I generally prefer for guys that don’t have great play strength to be very great shooters but I think flag is the truth. Great athlete, tough and very skilled outside of his long range shooting. He knows how to get to spots where he has “go-to’s” and a lot of guys with great traits can’t do that. They might beat a guy off the bounce but when they get to the rim they just pick a side to lay up on or dunk if they can. Flag knows based on a defenders position that he can use a spin and that guy will be out of the picture to contest and he has that spacial awareness consistently and in real time. Not only from correctly anticipating the defensive rotation. Although he’s not a great passer he doesn’t get tunnel vision so even if he doesn’t see the optimal pass you can’t overcommit defensively because he can may you pay with the basics. Simply put he can react in real time rather than picking his approach at the top of the key and hoping his plan goes exactly as he thinks it will

Most Americans did not think that foreign players from outside the mainland United States would struggle for a while before they could adjust to the new environment, culture and language. All these facts show that they struggled from the start. Even Wembanyama continued to struggle, although he received the full support of the Spurs through all his problems. The American college players do not have to adapt at all, they just have to go on the field and play, that's why they have always been better than foreign players from the beginning on.

Honestly, we need to see them all play this year. Flagg IS only 17... a year at Duke and we'll see if his game translates to the next level enough to make him a lottery pick much less the number one. Also, number one is NOT always the best player. Teams pick what they need. Given that if there is a clear number one and he doesn't fit the team who gets the #1 pick's needs they trade down to where they can get what they need and try to 'squeeze the juice' out of the pick. So if the number one team needs a really athletic 2-way wing scorer at the rim... today Flagg goes first. If they need a distributing guard it won't be. Let's just play that list out... Nets would take Flagg today. After all when you suck that bad and are in full-blown rebuild mode you take the biggest and most athletic player on the board no matter the position needs you might have since they need.. well.. all of them bluntly. Wizards would likely look at Traore as Poole's eventual replacement at the PG letting him run the 2nd team and the first guard off the bench. They have Kuz and Sarr at the SF and PF respectively already. Blazers would trade down to get future picks and maybe some cap money and give up Flagg/Bailey because they have bigger needs in other positions with Deni and Shaedon at the SF spot and Jerami Grant at the PF Flagg/Bailey wouldn't see much playing time. They just got Scoot at the PG and Anfernee Simons has been near All-Star quality at the SG. So there biggest need, by far, is not out of this draft year. Pistons though... definitely take Flagg/Bailey... move Ausar Thomson to the PF (bumping Tobias Harris into the 2nd squad) and you slide Flag/Bailey in at the 3 and you just upgraded your athleticism and 2 way play dramatically. Bulls I could see going for Flagg or Bailey at the number one pick for sure and play them at the PF spot. Patrick Williams has been solid, but is a defensive liability on a team who just traded away Captain Caruso the heart of their defense. So adding in a more athletic 2 way like Flag or Bailey to then use Williams as a trade piece makes a LOT of sense with Torrey Craig as a very serviceable veteran backing him up. Jazz just picked up Hendricks last year, but honestly in 40 games last season averaging 20 mins off the bench... meh... his offense was fine but not spectacular... his defense can only be described as 'sub-par' for the Western Conference. So I could easily see them trading up for Flagg/Bailey. Now imagine either Flagg or Bailey playing with Lauri in a motion offense where the SF and PF are just fluid non-positional style. 7' Lauri and 6'9" Flagg flying around the court on both ends? I could definitely see a deal where Utah trades Kessler and a pick swap to say Raptors to get Flagg. Hornets would trade up to get Flagg/Bailey because the SF is a big weak spot for them. Raptors trade down for sure. They've got RJ Barret at the SF and Gradey Dick at the SG, and Immanuel Q at the PG. I could only see them take one of these five players if it were part of a deal to say get Kessler out of Utah to replace Poeltl. After all a guy who shoots 55% at the FT and didn't even attempt a 3pt shot last season is VERY replaceable. Spurs would definitely trade-up to get Flagg or Bailey to replace Harrison Barnes. No shade on Barnes... been a solid contributor for more than a decade, but 12pt, 3rb, and .1 blks ain't keeping your spot when Cooper shows up in the building. Hawks literally just drafted a SF with Risacher so they wouldn't take Flagg/Bailey at the number 1. They would almost certainly take Harper now that they traded away Murray. Bogie helps to mentor the kid who will eventually replace him.

There’s no chance flagg isn’t number 1 😂 Even an average season will see him lock up the 1 spot. He has every single physical tool to go number 1, but what separates him from the rest is his mentality. Carrying a B team in the USA scrimmage to almost beating the main team is something high school players just don’t do.
