The Marker is a farming technique. Whenever a species reaches a certain level of intelligence, they will spread out across the stars. The issue is, as they do this, they will invariably discover the marker that was guiding their species from the beginning. The marker makes them a wasteful species and almost stops them from finding new forms of energy. So the species becomes reliant on the marker. Over time, this will mold the species into monsters to be consumed by the Brethren moons. Eventually, a new moon is formed, and the world is destroyed as the next species to be harvested advances. In todays episode, we will discuss how some have remained apparently immune from the signal!

That would explain why Isaac was relatively sane up until the point it's revealed that Nicole is dead. His sheer will and determination to save his girfriend was all he had, and once he finds out he's already too late, that's when the marker's hallucinations really start to become aggressive.

I'd argue to say it became aggressive because he failed to bring and keep the marker on the pedestal. Nicole was helping him bring the marker back to where it originally was but since Kendra interfered it was all for nothing, and since it unfortunately got destroyed it's almost like it cursed him since he was the only one who last had contact with a sentient obelisk.

This village although fictional is probably the most perfect example of how humans will settle down literally anywhere they conceivably could. I mean do you honestly think that if it weren’t for a military-enforced exclusion zone that people wouldn’t go back to Pripyat? Hell some people still do live there. It’s absolutely nuts. That and how the Romans saw Vesuvius erupt and they went “whelp, looks like quarrymen and brickyards are gonna be busy getting us new building materials” as if they didn’t just watch a mountain eat two thriving cities. It’s not that we don’t ask if we should, it’s that deep down we all know that we honestly just don’t give a shit.

Those things arnt infinite. The markers are basically energy receivers for the Moons. If the moon dies, so does the energy. At the end of 3, we learn that they were starving since the residence of Tau Volantis cut off their last supply line and freeze their relay essentially. So they might died out if that motherfukin Danik didnt revive that moon.

Guilt and trauma were big things in Deadspace also. The more people who died around a person, the more they would hallucinated. But all the scientists in the book who became warped , means the signal affected those intelligent people in ways we don’t quite understand

Higher processing power. Their brains can handle more of the the load of the transmitted data. Dumber people have to push more of this data to the subconscious or even dump it entirely. So in intelligent people it would come down to them being able to pin point what is the real them and what is a hallucination caused by being bombarded by a hostile signal 24/7 when part of the effect of the signal is no doubt loosening their grip on what is really real and what is delusion.

The Market probably overloads the brain and that is why it happens like exactly as you said. My grandmother's distant aunt lived to be 114 years old. By 110 though.. she could no longer walk. Up until her late 90s, she could still walk, do prayer stuff at the prayer shrine, peel garlic.. and even reorganize her closet from time to time. Yeah.. and as for the rest of us.. we either dropped in late 80s or late 70s.. rarely in the late 90s.

I think it might have to do with mindset. For example someone with a rational worldview that's aware of the possibility of hallucinations might have a tendency to filter or view their experiences with a certain lense. Maybe not soo much willpower as a sort of tunnel vision.

It would be interesting to see you take on the anatomy of a space marine. As in how realistically a second heart would work, Sinew Coils or really any of the implants.

If you get a transplant, they sometimes leave you the old, damaged heart, if it still works. There are something like 100 cases worldwide. So 2 hearts seem to work fine 🤷‍♂️

Actually, do you think it might be time to do videos about the space stations and space ships themselves? @Terrell Durocher seeing hallucinations isnt insanity especially when alien markers are the cause, he has been fighting against them, too and somehow after years and years remained the same, even directly fighting the newborn brother moon which seemingly had a much stronger telepathic ability then the markers

@@thedrifter5531 I played all three games over the space of the last couple of days he built the marker of he's own free will if you don't remember building a structure the size of big Ben have multiple different logs talking about how you are blacked out mental then you are insane I have yet to play the remake (probably never will) but it makes it a lot more clearer it shows that issac was completely under. The influence of the marker during ds1 you have to remember that we play from he's pov the wii game weirdly (played it off a emulator) shows these effects a lot. More clearer you may think you sound calm and rational but to everyone else you sound like you've gone off the rails if you play the dlc for dead space 3 that whole thing is him clearly being baited to go back to earth so the moons can know where earth is I imagine it's to get even even for losing one of their brothers/ that's the whole point of the moons anyway I think it makes the series more interesting knowing issac may not be himself all the time and the player has to try and spot that Edit: first game loses he's mind and can't accept Nicole's death so builds the marker as a gift to her in he's confused mind dead space 2 accepts she's gone and breaks free mostly dead space 3 he fails again and leads em to earth and the ending scene with the moons is a hallucination/warning to issac that they are coming for revenge

I have always wondered, the more "Toughened" Individual's of humanity. Such as soldiers, suvivor's of traumatic situation's. Such as abuse in all it's wide ranges. Survivor's of war, law enforcement personal who has seen some really messed up stuff. Homeless folk's who had to survive without the creature comfort's most humans manage to enjoy, probably going without and causing a great willpower to stir. I wonder if these type of people would be more resistant to the Marker's will with their own, or would they be more susceptible to the Marker's dominance? I would like to say some people, such as soldier's and law enforcement. Would probably be more resistant to it, if we take into account the USA's own military doctrine's. And use that as a baseline example, I think plenty of soldiers would be able to stave off the initial bout's of the Marker's influence. But as soldier's see the terrible things happening to the populace, the adherent creatures formed and the slaughter. Many would probably have their will's faulter and fall under the sway of the Marker. People with PTSD. Probably would fall easier to the marker's influence, just because of the traumatic event's that forever scared the individual's mind. And with how intelligent the marker is and will continue to be with the added mass of human's. They could probably use the fear's of the person, along with all the horrible crap that would be happening. And drive them insane. Homeless folk's. Depends heavily on how abused, how neglected and how the homeless person came to be. There's so many ways to end up homeless already in the USA with plenty of homeless folk's just trying to live on. But if we look to the South America's, where death squad's are formed in great number's for social cleansing, killing homeless to criminal's, to all walk's of human life. A homeless person who survives that crap on the daily. May have a strong enough will power to resist, or maybe it makes them easier for the marker to fill their mind with rage. Thoughts of justice and sends them on a suicidal charge. Who know's. I figured I'd share my thought on this subject, getting into what kinds of people from different walks of life could either resist or fall easier to the Marker's influence, from the life style's we could see and assume. I think it's an easy subject, I mean. Look to the Soldier's on Tideman's station. There's sizable groups of soldiers who are seemingly unaffected, government worker's. Tideman himself. Along with other folk's, civilian's too. When the outbreak first happened, there's plenty of human's running and gettin' away.

14:55 I have a great aunt that lived to the ripe old age of 103 (or was it 104?) and I was told she had been an avid smoker for much of her adult life. And yet we hear about athletes who did everything by the book to live long healthy lives and still essentially spontaneously dropped dead in their mid-thirties from a freak heart attack or some aggressive auto-immune disease.

You just answered one of the questions I had about one of your other videos. I think it’s interesting that people closer to the marker would be less effected by it and you brought up the reason why they don’t last as long leaving the less effected by the marker’s signals. It seems even with people who are immune, have the right genes, and having immense willpower still looks like humanity doesn’t stand one bit of a chance with such variables.
