While the animation was a bit iffy in the deathstalker fight, that final sequence of the nevermore fight was INCREDIBLY COOL.

Arnold, old friend........ Sorry for not commenting on the first episode. It was just so surreal seeing you react to it with that glow. And I felt the same thing watching this series the first time...... They did the original RWBY great justice and added so much more!!! And the animation style was beyond EPIC!!! I cried watching their version of the cliff battle!! SO WELL DONE!!! But, you guys haven't seen nothing yet, trust me. I can't wait for your reactions to the next one!!! This was so needed after the news of RT's end....... And keeps my belief that the RWBY universe will have a future!! There's many 'what if's' stories out here...... Like this series!!! This is why I actually find these first two episodes to be more accurate, canonical and overall better than the original 8 episodes of RWBY. Not only is the context and storytelling leagues higher, but they even add things that would have helped a lot in understanding the world more compared to the original. It took everything that was great in volume 1, and just raised the bar. Are the fight scenes better than volume 1? No. Monty’s fighting choreography is second to none, and to recreate it in 2D is damn near impossible unless you’re studio Ufotable or Mappa something. But they got very close nonetheless. And I couldn’t be happier.

They did one thing I really don't like, and that's that they had Jaune say he doesn't like pumpkin pete's. He's even wearing the hoodie from the show, the PUMPKIN PETE'S hoodie he's always had, and yet he says he doesn't like the cereal, even stating he thinks it's unhealthy. Why i don't like it: He's wearing the hoodie lmao, and also because it's taking away from Jaune's lovable, dorky self. His character was stripped a little bit, and it only gets worse from here... *I do not like ice queendom. Cool animation but I really don't like the story they tried to tell.

Episode 2 did phenomenal at condensing down several episodes into one without it losing much in the progress. It knew precisely what was needed and the animation served its role, the Nevermore fight in particular stunning. And the ending just serves as a great jaw dropping moment to intriguing new fans while making old fans go "what the hell?!" Also, I don't know if you have reactions for them recorded, but I'd love to see some on the dub if you ever get the chance. ^_^

I'm considering doing a compilation rewatch of Episodes 1-3 (Idk if 1-6 would be too much) of the English dub since I would've watched it dubbed if it was available at launch. I also think it would give me the true "nostalgia trip" from the first 3 episodes, at least.

They had to establish things quickly for this series, plus they already had a base of several volumes to work from when creating this so it would've been easy for them to expand on somethings that the series proper didn't establish til later in the series and cut out things that aren't necessary for this story going forward

My grip with the nevermore scene is that the part where Weiss had to raise ruby up to the bird's neck kinda broke the flow. It would be better if the nevermore broke the ice and tried to lunge at the flying ruby, who ends up meeting its neck anyways

I miss the motion and momentum of Monty’s fight scene animations in IQ, but that has to be incredibly hard to animate in 2D. Not a deal breaker but that and the missing music leaves a bit of an empty feeling. Really enjoying the reboot though

I don't want to spoil. I know in Episode 1 you noted that you already watched episode 1-6 so this should be fine to say. After finishing the dhow I really feel like th middle of the story is a little bit draged out and they would have finished the story with maybe 2 less episodes, but what WWE got was pretty good. I also want to say i really like this Au and want more from it. The original was good, but I did not like the direction with went with the story telling and stuff after volume 4. There were ups and downs after but there were more downs than ups to me. This AU seemed to have some interesting developments by the end that it can branch off on its own and have it's own story.

I watched this series and I like it but not as much OG RWBY, as someone who studied animation I can see some unusual animations in this series. I won’t say any more until you reached the end 😤

While it looks gorgeous, even if the animation had issues at places ... over all it looked stunning ... but it did reinforce for me how important music is for a scene ... as while the sound design is great the score does not even reach ankles of Jeffs brilliant work ... and as such it lacks the charm that comes from the action flowing in tune with that music.... Which I cant fault them for it was Montys trademark ... but it does detract for the scenes that mirror the originals ...

While I think the efficiency is nice, one criticism I have is that many of the gags and extra "humorous fluff" is gone in order to save time, which I guess is fine for this, but I think it would be a loss for the main show.

I think in the original weiss treated rubys i hate you as a child with tantrum but in this you can clearly see weiss did got hurt by that statement. Then again rwby vol1 had barely any facial expressions.
