Great request Blueeyedkansan! I’m always speechless when I hear Aaron Neville’s voice. The control is amazing. Thanks Harri and Blueeyedkansan. 🌺✌️Note: Aaron and Linda never dated. They were close friends with great affection and respect for each other. Aaron was actuslly married to his wife, Joel, for 66 years until her death in 2007. 🌸

A fantastic song and Aaron Neville is a gift to humanity.

I was fortunate to see the Nevilles countless times.....the best at a small venue that held about 250 people. Low stage with a dance floor in front of it.......BEST EVER. Met them afterward and they were gracious enough to sign their autobiography for me. Cyril was a sweet heart. Aaron scared the hell out of me simply because of his sheer presence. His arms were like tree trunks and he was so solemn. It breaks my heart that they are no more. Cyril I believe is still active but Aaron has retired to his farm in upstate NY. Check more of their stuff out Harri....none of it disappoints.

Growing up I had the hugest talent crush on Aaron Neville. For context, he's nearly 40yrs older than me, haha. I was an angry (and horrendously depressed) teen in the 90's who listened to angry rock and angry rap. To modulate I'd listen to reggae because I could sing political but feel good at the same time. I loved a band called Spearhead who fused funk, jazz, folk, hip hop, and had amazing socially conscious music, but they were a 90's group. Those were the only things you'd find in my Walkman when I was out and about. Mostly loud, mostly angry, but sometimes funky and pissed off. At home in my room though, it was the Neville Brothers, Sam Cooke, blues, jazz, the classical station on AM radio, just way different stuff. Everything I listened to at home was older than I was and if I'd been a girl who let herself cry, Aaron's vocal skill probably would have cracked me. Sam was my idol, but Aaron was not far off him. I've never known another popular music singer who could control their vibrato like Aaron. Apart from Linda singing at the Grammys with him and she adjusts her vibrato at a couple of points so they're matching. There's only one voice that sounds like this though. What a blessing he's been and continues to be to listen to.

If you search a little, you'll find another live performance of The Neville Bros doing this with Gregg Allman. You'll also find a great arrangement of them playing with Gregg on Midnight Rider from the same show.

I saw them in 1969, they were fabulous then too.

The Nevilles opened for the Grateful dead and played with them too. I am sure those recordings are available. The Deads audiance bring great performances out.

Harri, you must react to The Neville Brothers live performance of Hey Pocky Way at The Municipal Auditorium in New Orleans, 1991. This is a New Orleans funk classic and you’ll see more of the brothers’ talents.

I have been a huge fan since 78, serious talent in this family. It's a shame that they only live on in their recordings though I believe Aaron and Cyril are still around, though not working much if at all. 40 years was not nearly enough.

He sings a live duet with Linda Ronstadt [I Don't Know Much] that is fire! You should react to it.

There's a version of this song with Aaron & Cyril Neville, Bonnie Raitt & Gregg Allman that'll knock you out!

I have always thought his unique singing voice was due to multiple personalities. He is much too sane for this to be true, but where does all these vocal nuances come from? Freddy Mercury had some of these tendencies. I guess when Freddy was at his best on stage, he was simply channeling his inner Aaron. Both are musical geniuses, and we will be introducing their music to future generations decades after they are called home.

It's the worst kind of a cliche saying he/her has "a very unique voice" i know but if it can apply to anyone it certainly is Aaron!

👍 Yes this was an Oldie in the early 70’s and I loved it. Forty years ago I was transferred to N’Awlins and hung out at Tipitinas bar where they played regularly. THEN I got sent to Cajun Country Lafayette and found out about Cajun Chank A Chank music. Check out Wayne Toups! kzbin.info/www/bejne/qWfNlWt6rq5rfMUsi=uRZw6N-QDyDQRXdz
