I totally understand when you explained the “dead zone” response that the MK7 GTI has when you get on the throttle. It’s just the nature of a turbo car. Funny thing is, is that I recently went to the VW Golf GTI forums to explain how I can’t stand this “dead zone” that the GTI has, as I come from an E46 M3 that has an amazing throttle response. Well, people in the forums started blasting me saying the car doesn’t have hardly any turbo lag or turbo threshold. I knew at that moment that none of the guys responding to me have ever owned a good N/A sports car before, because when you do, and then you drive a turbo car, you feel the difference immediately!

You can have variable camber through a double wishbone suspension. If the two wishbones are different lengths the camber will change throughout the travel. If the bottom wishbone is longer the camber will go more negative as the suspension loads and go positive as it unloads. Vice versa for longer top wishbone.
@OVER5TEER4 жыл бұрын

Double wishbone *does* change camber through the suspension stroke. The upper control arm is shorter than the lower one, so negative camber is increased as the suspension compresses. This is desirable so chassis roll and tire carcass flex are compensated for, keeping the contact patch parallel with the ground.

Hey LEXUS. Life long lover here. Here’s a great tip to really cause some excitement for your brand. Take this exact design on the 2021 IS. Give it the 5.0 V8. Carbon ceramic brakes from Brembo. Michelin pilot sport tires or Goddyear Eagle F1. DONT use augmented sounds for the engine. Use carbon fiber genuinely. And be bold. Offer a manual. Yeah I like that. And of course a ELSD. The car would take it to the Germans.

The lexus makes a bit of a comeback in my eyes thanks to those looks, at the very least it's miles from BMW grills apocalypse. Also the side look of this car is apsolutely stunning.

incorrect about the double wishbone, in cars they're typically setup to gain negative camber under compression, and thats why they handle better than McStruts (all else being equal). The best you can hope for in a McStrut car is for no camber change, most gain positive camber. High suspension travel double wishbones (such as in trucks and offroad buggies) can be setup little to no camber change, but thats not what you want in a car
@maxsale29274 жыл бұрын
McPherson strut is basically tracing the arc of a circle as you go through travel. The bottom of the wheel will be farthest out (most negative camber) when the arm is parallel to the ground. When the arm starts to point upward, you lose negative camber as the arm is pulling the bottom of the wheel back toward the center of the car. So, depending on the angle of the arm at neutral and fully compressed positions, you can have negative camber gain. A well designed McPherson setup will just never be able to achieve as much camber gain as a well designed double wishbone or multilink.

I wouldn’t really care that by dropping in the 5.0L V8 in the new IS, it would still be slower than the competition. Honestly, I think I’d be content if they just offered a manual on the Fsport AWD.

What is up with the 'if you need to turn TC off on a public road, your over driving the car' thing at 7:40? In the 2014 IS F-Sport review you said turning the TC off was needed for spirited driving as it was way to invasive and did not let you hit the rev limiter without shifting on it's own....

Any is350 owner is screaming to push the traction control button for ten seconds. Put it in sport plus or sport and u shift into second or third gear befor going into turns.. or put it in manual mode and ride out 3rd gear or 4th lol. Also. The computer in this car learns your driving so doing a ecu reset before testing the car would make a big difference in how the throttle responds. It sounds like a lot. But it’s worth it. The traction control is the first thing to do. You don’t over drive it. It just now handles how it should.
