We went to look at Cross and Rav4s and ended up getting two Trax for the price of one Rav4. Insurance is cheaper, and we dont have to worry about it getting stolen as much in our area where Rav4s get stolen almost daily.

I’m not currently in the market for a new vehicle, but I am more excited about this car than any car in the last 10 years. I’m sure that a lot of people will find it odd to be attracted to an entry level car. I have been stalking the local dealers to see one and when I tracked one down it was parked to a new Blazer in the same black. Granted the Blazer is a lot more vehicle but I thought that at $49,000, I could buy two Trax. The difference in vehicle size and features is just not worth the additional cost. I am retired and no longer drive long trips so even living in Wisconsin I don’t require all wheel drive.

But, the hate for them is kind of funny! People really want to see a budget car fail! Why? Makes me want one even more! I want to see what making one last a long time, just because! I lived in Europe, and we had teeny, tiny cars all over, with several thousands of miles on, those vehicles! In Japan they have millions of Kei Cars ( 660 cc. Or less.). Maintenance will work wonders!

GM transmissions are typically the learning type and tend to be a little rough shifting until they learn your driving style. This is a description from GM I found on a Cadillac forum: What GM says about Adaptive Learning: “According to past (very brief) GM Media/GM Marketing comment, the purpose of the adaptive self-learning feature of our 6 speed auto transmissions is to tailor/fine-tune the transmission's shifting characteristics, over time, in response to the individual's particular driving style. GM Powertrain refer to the routine as Adaptive Shift Time.”

You can’t change the display on the speedometer screen? My 2024 RS Trax has 5 or 6 different looks I just have to hold the right side steering wheel rolling knob between music and phone button

I just bought one and the suggested oil change is 7500 miles I am going with 5000 due to the wet belt.

This is a nice car and all but what concerns me is the 3cyl engine and the fact that it uses a wet belt for the overhead cams. This is a rubber belt that runs through the oil and if anyone is familiar with Fords 3cyl and how its wet belt degrades and gets caught in the oil pickup basically destroys the engine.

Manuel says to change timing belt, oil pump and drive belt at 150,000 miles or 15 years whichever comes first. May want to do all that sooner to be safe than sorry.

Don’t listen to this idiot in the comment. He’s just another GM hater. My mother has a 2020 Chevy Trailblazer with the same 1.2 engine as the trax and has had 0 problems. She has 61k miles on it and is happy with her vehicle. She changes the oil every 3k miles with that new gf-6 oil that is made for engines like the trax.

You can get almost all the goodies on the LT. I just bought mine on Monday, and it is a loaded LT got it 25k out the door. Sunroof, wireless charging, heated seats, heated steering wheel, keyless entry, auto start, lane assist, blind spot detection, auto lights, 11" Infotainment, and I am probably missing some things. The only thing the higher trim (Activ or 2RS - same cost for either just slightly different appearance package - basically a side grade) offers is the full leatherette seats (LT has partially cloth), badging, drivers side electric seat, and bigger wheels.

If you are a fan of Sirius XM there is no playback function installed in the software in the 2024 Trax. Chevrolet "cheapened out" on the Sirius software.

Great review. I really like the looks of the new Trax but I'm concerned they are not AWD/FWD. Living in WNY snow is an issue and FWD is not a great option.
