The New 2024 Porsche Cayenne review // New engines, interior and design!

This is a Motormouth couple car review of the newly updated 2024 Porsche Cayenne SUV. What’s New? Porsche says this new 2024 Cayenne is one of the most extensive product upgrades in Porsche history. With updates to the chassis, powertrain, design and equipment. This has extended to on-road and off-road performance along with everyday comfort and luxury. It gets a new digitalized display, available HD Matrix LED headlights, an air quality system and for the very first time in the Cayenne, front passengers get their own available infotainment display.
The new 2024 Porsche Cayenne debuts with four different powertrain options with a newly developed 4L V8 bi-turbo engine which replaces the previous V6 in the Cayenne S. It has 468 horsepower 442 lb-ft of torque. That’s 34 horsepower and 37 lb-ft of torque more than the previous model. All models have an 8-speed Tiptronic S transmission.
The base Porsche Cayenne engine is a 3L V6 turbo, it now generates 348 horsepower and 368 lb-ft of torque, up an extra 13 horsepower and 36 lb-ft of torque. This six-cylinder engine also forms the basis for the powertrain of the Cayenne E-Hybrid. In combination with a new electric motor that has been improved by 40 horsepower to 174 horsepower, the combined output increases to 463 horsepower. The battery increases in size from 17.9 kWh to 25.9 kWh. The E-Hybrid gets a new 9.6 kW onboard charger.
The Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT is the top model and available exclusively as a coupe. It has a 4L V8 twin-turbo engine with an increase of 19 horsepower to 650 horsepower. Unfortunately, we don’t have the opportunity to drive the base model this time, we’ll be driving the Cayenne S and Turbo GT Coupe at this drive event.
In Canada, the Porsche Cayenne starts at $89,800 CAD, Cayenne E-Hybrid $104,800 CAD, Cayenne S $107,500 CAD, Cayenne Turbo GT $218,300 CAD. In the US, it starts at $79,200 USD, Cayenne E-Hybrid $91,700 USD, Cayenne S $95,700 USD, Cayenne Turbo GT $188,700 USD.

I picked up my new 2023 Porsche Cayenne GTS Coupe on the 3rd March this year. It has a proper shifter and I wouldn't be without the analog Rev counter. It is a special vehicle and I definitely prefer the interior over the new model. Sunroof is standard in my model in NZ.

Andrea, Zack, It's not a shifter, it's a gear selector. You use the paddles if you want to shift gears; use the gear selector to choose, park, drive, neutral and reverse. My 2022 911GTS has the same issue. I use the paddles to shift gears if needed. Thanks for your excellent videos.

Ordered my 2024 Cayenne Coupe about a month ago. Hate that we can't get the new HD Matrix headlights in the US. Also was told if I wanted the Passenger Video Screen I'd be waiting for delivery into 2024. While I like some of the new interior colors, I absolutely hate that you're forced to get a contrasting black all the way through the center column to the back seat, so I went with all black interior to avoid the contrast. Still, very excited to get my first Porsche.

You get the matrix lights for the USA, they’re disabled though. NHTSA will never approve them to be activated. Also the light output is about 1/3 lower for the USA. We will always be behind the rest of the world in safety.

just ordered one v6 this is our 4th cayenne but 6th Porsches glad they have added a space for a phone and shifted the gear stick as the current model is lacking storage space have also add heads up display

Hey @motormouth, not sure if you came across this, but Porsche wants to continue to keep their gas engine tradition for as long as possible. This is why they are currently developing the car tech space to have "efuel". It is essentially reasimilating excess carbon in the environment into "efuel" for their cars. Technically zero waste in the sense that the carbon was already in the atmosphere and made to be re-used. Though efuel is currently very energy inefficient (unlike electric cars) and expensive, they are trying to improve it and bring this tech into the future in order to continue to have gas engines for their fanbase who must have gas engines. They want to maintain their heritage and their loyal fanbase who simply do not want major changes in their products. CNBC did a feature on it recently, you can search it on youtube!

I love my E-hybrid. The electric motor shines in stop and go traffic. It is much nicer than the auto start stop in a regular ICE Cayenne. The power steering and air conditioner keep working even when the gas engine is off.

Great review! I am long time BMW owner (currently X3) and thinking of potentially shifting to Porsche. I am stunned at home much the price of those two brands have skyrocketed vs. what I paid for my 2013 X3! OUCH!! Coming from a 35i model X3, I feel like I will want a 6 cylinder Porsche if I go that route. What do you guys think? Will the base model Cayenne or Macan be something as enticing as the musical 6-cylinder in my BMW or will I need to go up market even more? I also wonder what the reliability will be like of a Porsche SUV vs. BMW.

The b58 cant really be replaced by the 2.9 v6 in the base cayenne. its a bit muffled but the handling is very decent and more in line with my taste id say.

I'm really interested in a Cayenne base V6, but I'd really like to know the truth as to how different it is from it's Audi or VW cousins, besides the price. Is it not on the same chassis with the same engine/tranny etc and even the same 4 wheel drive system as any of the Audi or VWs with the 3L V6/8speed?

Have a 2008 S and the return of the v8 is the way to go but the shifter is a bad decision and tired of manufacturers using screens for gauges. But otherwise it looks like a winner. The shifter in the 955/957 was substantial why mess with it

I’ll never own one of these, and probably not a Porsche either, since I wouldn’t sink that much into a vehicle. That doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate them! I think I’d prefer the Macan, but it was great hearing Zack go through the gears. I get the interior looking more sporty, but I would think it would little a look more refined inside. Not fan of the big center consoles (Mercedes look awful). And I get the all digital displays are a thing of the future, but I still love the analog clusters or the appearance of them. Curious how reliable Porsches are generally. I can’t imagine they’re cheap to service.

It took me 2 days to get used to the Taycan's dash-mounted shifter and now it's very natural to me. You don't use the shifter much in an EV, so I like that it takes up less space.

Agree on the shifter, what WERE they thinking. I always used to rest my free hand on the top of mine on my old Cayenne diesel, and still do in my Macan S. I don't know if I could live with it on the dash like that. Must say, I miss my Cayenne d. The low down torque was superb.

I drive a 2022 Audi Q7. Really looking forward to having the PHEV option there as well with a range of about 100 Kms. That will be perfect for most of the commutes. Don't need any EVs in that case.

I have a 2022 Mercedes GLE350. Thinking about trading it in for a Macan or Cayenne. Is this a good move and which one would be better? I know Macan has less space. But l lve heard it is more agile than the Cayenne. The Cayenna would stretch my budget a bit.

I guess I'm in the minority but I don't need the engine sound. Whether it is a V8, 6 (inline or V) or otherwise, I really enjoy the near silent, smoother acceleration of a BEV. That's not to say I love everything about a BEV but engine and exhaust tone isn't something that I go for. Engines are going away so going back to a V8 is nice for V8 fans, but really not necessary for good performance. As far as the vehicle goes, it looks like a Cayenne. All these screens in new cars are getting tiring. Time for a new paradigm if we have to have all this "tech." A Porsche is a Porsche due to dynamic qualities and it sounds like they haven't been compromised.

Porsche should offer an analog option for dials and gauges. Screens are ok but dials are classy. If you can spec $7,000 headlamps then you should get your choice of dials. Hmmm. Where are they in California? I think it’s near the Rock Store as the nav showed Sierra Creek Rd which shows up in Maps.

I like the Porsche Le Mans starter rather than the push button. They could still have that in an EV. I don't like the very reflective plastic in the center console. When the sun hits it just right it is blinding.

Vacillating between the Cayenne and Audi Q8...but on a different note, will NEVER buy a fully electric vehicle. Impractical and inconvenient. Hybridized maybe but not full EV. Great review (this is the 3rd time I've watched it lol!)

I bet the average base unit will be ~$120,000 CDN with options. Add in ridiculous BC taxes and you are probably ~$135,000. Add in silly parts and servicing costs and it gets to be simply too much when it is only worth $100,000 on a trade-in after one year!

The headlamp rules in the us are screwed up. I'm sick of being blinded while driving at night. Sure the new leds are nice and bright for the driver but whoever the regulators are that decided this didn't consider oncoming traffic. horrific glare, stupid government
