VW, please bring DCC, the seats with thigh extender, and small wheels to the US. We want comfort too! I rented a 2022 RWD with 20” wheels. Those killed the ride and added lots of road noise. Other than that and the weight, I was impressed. The tight turning circle of the RWD was useful.

Thanks for really good tests and videos in general. I am missing information on how your tested ID4 Pro is equipped. In particular, I wonder if the tested ID4 has a sports suspension? Lowered? Adjustable chassis? Which rims and tyres are fitted? I have watched some of your videos (very informative videos) but all of them lack the above information. In addition, I would like to see a detailed test of e.g. Skoda Enyaq and Audi Q4 e-tron if you have time one day. Here in Denmark, the Enyaq and ID 4/5 are very popular. The Q4 e-tron is a strange car as it doesn't feel like a ‘premium car’ like other Audis do. FDM, which is the Danish version of your ADAC, only gives 3 out of 6 stars to Q4 against 4 out of 6 stars to ID4/5 and Enyaq! I myself am getting ready for an electric car ... but I want to go down in class as I will soon retire (usually drive approx. 45,000 km / year in Mercedes E-class E220d) and must therefore go out and test drive e.g. ID5, Enyaq, Q4 e-tron, Volvo EX40 as there are probably some hurdles that I have to overcome :-) So thanks again for the great videos and I'd love to know a bit more about the cars' drivetrain and tires :-)

My daughter has an ID.3 from 2021. Unlike Tesla, it appears VW have no plans to provide meaningful updates. Will more recent ID.4 cars get any of these software updates? If my daughter bought another new VW ID.x, for how long will updates be offered? Your comments about "take the new one" sounds like a VW slogan. How long will it be "the new one"? The id3 has had updates but some features need updated hardware so there is a limit. Even Tesla went through phases like this.

@@timmurphy5541 I understand that hardware constraints apply. These hardware restraints have impacted 2 and 3 year old VW IDs so there is no comparison with the Tesla range. Tesla recently updated European models 3 and Y with adaptive headlights, as they had thought ahead about fitting the hardware long before they had the approval process completed needed. As someone who has worked in the IT industry for many years, it is evident that VW used low-powered components in their initial systems, saving probably $20 or $30 per car. As a result, early purchasers have faced serious depreciation.

I have the older 2023 ID4. I love the car, despite some of the criticism by journalists. The software is stable and the styling and build quality is great. Has a number of advantages over my old Tesla MY IMO.

For the charger in the navigation software. It would also be nice to have a setting to use only/mainly chargers on the highway. Because now it sometimes sends you to a charger some km's away of the highway

Great video. I have been driving the ID.4 1:st (Pro) for three years now and enjoy the car very much except the software that so has far been disappointing but I believe in the new hardware and software so I have ordered the new GTX. I have test driven the ID.7 and know roughly what is new but it was still fun to see the new 12.9 inch screen with its new features. I will ask my local VW dealer if they have any ID.4 2024 in stock so I can try it myself. The sad thing is that I have to wait until September for my new GTX.

The difference in regen power you're feeling could have to do with the weight and weight transfer. Being a taller vehicle they may have tune it down a bit more for the ID.4 vs 7

The EU spec ID4 looks much better compared to a fully loaded US spec ID4. Does anyone know where retrofit kits are available for things like the AR HUD or the foot motion activated rear hatch, let alone the really attractive options like the DCC and DDC?

Have you tried the 2024 Skoda Enyaq with he same drive train? The danish motor journalist all agree, that the Enyaq is a better buy than the ID4 - mainly because of the exterior styling and the cabin quality.

I've had my 2024 ID.4 since March (placed the order in January). Maximized all the equipment except for the sport seats which felt very comfortable to my back, but very uncomfortable to my thighs. I'm very satisfied with my choice so far. I love the HUD (#1 reason why I rejected all Teslas), and I absolutely love the panoramic roof, which I wouldn't have ordered if it wasn't bundled in one package with the laminated noise-suppressing windows.

I've had 2 id.4's the car itself is very well made, but the interior designs, capacitative buttons for everything, has always been trash and this new hand controls are terrible and much worse - not sure how they managed this. and the main letdown of the computer and software being garbage, frankly I'm not expecting much now at all. as been mentioned multiple times, VW should really be making a effort to get their early adopters whole and replace comptuers/software - but given VW management, they're not going to do that.

Unfortunately, I am inclined to agree. I have received one software update since our purchase in February 2023. The only things that I don't like: one, likewise, software could be better a FAR MORE consistent; two, access to the VW Service Center in limited, and that by far is the most frustrating part about ownership for me. I so want VW to produce a GOOD version of the MEB. My company 2022 Tesla M3LR lease runs out in 18 mths, and I don't like the changes on the current version. If I could have a VAG MEB rwd with the new motor, for a comparable price to the rwd TM3, I'd opt for that over another Tesla. And I genuinely very rarely go out of Chill mode anyway, so 6.5 is absolutely fine to keep my licence...

But to be honest, the first edition cars still had good ride quality, etc. At least they didn't made updates that made the experience worse, like Tesla - which at some point removed support for sensors installed in cars, and nerfed autopilot on highways

frankly I agree, we had a first, it got totaled, replaced it with a newer one, it's a phoenomally well made car, but the onboard computer and software is just not good and although they should be replacing them, I don't see VW doing that

Interesting view...the old Hardware still receives Updates...think 3.7 is the latest. And it was always the case for any OEM and car, that new Hardware meant new and better Software, too. As long all Features of a car are working it is OK. A Golf 7 will never get Software of the Golf 8...a Facelift of a BMW gets OS 8.5, but older never. Better than Tesla, which asked for 7500 and never delivered a working Autopilot..and will never work with Vision Only...no USS, no Radar. Even the Rain Sensor and traffic sign recognition is still not working at all.

If you don't like... Parking Sensor, Radar, Display at Steering Wheel, Headup, capacitive Steering Wheel, Matrix LED, Really working Rain Sensor, Travel Assist which is at 50 at the beginning of City, DCC etc...a Model Y is for you. If the ID4 would be as naked, without any Feature of a modern car like the Y, it could be 15k cheaper.

The words "best" and "VW" cannot be used in the sam sentence. Had bought new Tiguan 2 years ago and sold it only after 4 months due to reccuring issues with the car. VW made last good car in 2017, from there it only went downhill.
