Unsure if the holes are drilled in the right spot for proper alignment? An easy way to get a much better idea is to lay one end of the tarp at the edge of a line of drilled holes. Then steps far back, possibly to the porch of your home and assess the positioning from a distance. Alternatively, get a drone in the sky and look down at the positioning of the holes/tarp. You're doing great. Remember to take a little time to warm up in front of your wood burning stove.

Erin, from one editor to another, I am just constantly amazed at how good your story telling has gotten and all the little "aside" shots you do that always enhance the flow of your vids. I watch a lot of vids on youtube and I'm always interested in how the "films" are put together. Yours are always at the top of the list. Kudos for a job well done! Those little shots like the snow landing on the white down feather clinging to the bares stems in the grass... Shots like that make me pay more attention when it's just music playing. The animals all look so happy except for the naked necked turkeys. They just look cold.

Happy Birthday Erin and Ellie. I've used the ratchet strap method for years. I have found that on tires that have 10 plys or more that have stiff sidewalls, that a inflated bicycle inner tube between the tire and wheel, lubricated with soapy water works better. Bike tubes are cheap and easier than using a ratchet strap that now is under a lot of pressure to release. I've seen the, spray starting fluid in the tire wheel assembly and igniting trick before, but I'm not a fan of exploding a tire feet away from me.

JudithB LOL! I received a Jersey heifer for one of my birthdays! She had never been handled, had horns and was due to calf soon. I was scared but got her use to eating in a stansion, and I brushed her daily. One day, there was a calf and it was time to start milking. I asked my neighbor in his 70s for help, he just pushed her to the wall, sat down and started milking. It was amazing! I named her Chance after the Waltons cow, and we became good friends over the years. Good luck!!

I’ve done the ratchet-strap and “bazooka” trick to inflate tractor and other tires, and it’s always been a fight. Then my new favorite Tire Guy showed up to help, and he slathered that loose-bead section with a few pounds, of all things, canola grease. Kept the air in, the tire caught the bead, and he scooped up the grease for the next tire. Beats the heck out of that starting-fluid-and-a-match trick.

Nice to see you are building the farm up with your animals and Happy Birthday. One thing you will need to watch out for with the two cows is that the little one doesn't try to start nursing on the new cow. It doesn't have milk in her udder now but just the calf trying WILL have the larger cows hormones start trying to produce which will give the cow a dead quarter you can't milk once she does have a calf if her own. Or it will be problematic with mastitis.

Happy birthday Erin & Ellie. You can seal a tire bead onto the rim by spraying something combustible like WD40 into the tire and lighting it on fire. It’s called tire explosion bead setting. There are video’s on KZbin. You can also use ratchet straps.

Your new calf looks great. Watch the calf to make sure she's not trying to nurse off of the older heifer. If the calf does start trying to nurse off the older heifer, she can ruin the udder of the older heifer and you wouldn't be able to get milk from her. (My husband and I are 5th generation dairy farmers in upstate NY.) good luck and have fun.

What a shocker to see Frankie looking so BIG! He isn't a pup any more. Leon seems to be adjusting to life on the pasture. Not loving it, but not bucking it either. Still misses not being part of the family. Great fix on the tractor tire. Carter is learning the ropes from you Josh! Smart to cover the holes. Not sure everyone would think to do that. Spray some starter fluid around the inside rim and light it up, it will pop the tire back in place,it doesn't take much fluid so don't be too generous. I have seen someone put way to much and it blew the whole tire off the rim.

Hey Josh. In addition to the ratchet strap and the stuff to help seal the tire bead I found its helpful to have a heavy 3 lb hammer to hit the tire with while airing it up. Seems to flex the tire enough to "catch" more quickly. Keep up the awesome work guys.

Neat trick I learned as a truck driver, if you spray ether into the tire, then spray a small trail along the outside wall and light it, the gasses expanding as they rapidly combust will force the tire onto the bead.
