My advice to all Master Techs, Get yourself a personal borescope. The Teslongs' have a ton of value vs competitors. in my opinion. That said, MY diagnosis ALWAYS includes a visual inspection of the component in question. Unless of course it is impossible. Yes I cannot do a visual on everything, but even if something is normally buried or hard to see, my scope can usually get me there. It can save time in diagnosis, and after turning the wheels of expertise in your head- it can confirm hunches, or feelings about what is problematic. A Master Tech without one is missing out on a great tool.

But damn you can see so well. I bought the AMES 3.5" from Harbor Freight for 175 today and the date stamp was from 2010!!!! The picture was so horrible. I'm going to have to return it and eat the 20% return charge but after I'm done cleaning the valves :D ! I'm so dumb for not doing my research first and finding you! I'm lookin looking to buy a 2013 Prius hybrid with 80-100k. Do these cars have head gasket failure eventually? or theres a way to prevent it? Thanks
@LetsDriftMedia2 жыл бұрын
Not all of them but a lot of them do. Look for one that has properly serviced and not abused. It’s usually cause by either driving the vehicle low on coolant or a failed water pump. If the previous owner has not invested into regular coolant services and replaced the water pump your taking a gamble. The mileage your looking at is pretty low though. I would rec getting the water pump replaced after purchase just for peace of mind
@subgyu56932 жыл бұрын
@@LetsDriftMedia Thanks for the reply back. How about the EGR cooler and EGR valve? Do they need to be replace too?
@LetsDriftMedia2 жыл бұрын
@@subgyu5693 they dont NEED to be replaced at that mileage but if I was buying a used Prius I would go ahead and replace them both for preventative mait. since they are also a problem part with these engines. As well as clean the dust out of the hybrid battery filter located on the passenger side rear seats. Common for dust layer build up that will set a "check hybrid cooling system" warning.
@subgyu56932 жыл бұрын

Yo Yo For the price that really puts the snap on borescope to shame. My only question is and maybe I missed it, what’s the diameter of the camera? I’m wondering if it would fit down an ISB injector bore for cylinder inspections. Snap on wants almost 400 for just the 3mm camera not even with the display.
@LetsDriftMedia2 жыл бұрын
I forgot to mention that. The diameter of the probe is .33 inch
@dasphoenixable2 жыл бұрын
@@LetsDriftMedia Once I saw the comparison next to your finger kinda figured it wouldn’t fit, but still a handy borescope at a fraction of what the truck brands run.
@LetsDriftMedia2 жыл бұрын
@@dasphoenixable yea that’s the only thing I wish was better but I’m sure they will make a skinnier version next model.
@dasphoenixable2 жыл бұрын
@@LetsDriftMedia I’m guessing the diameter is because of the articulation, they have to fit the cable or whatever they are using in the sleeve of the camera.
