I honestly hope they do something about the Rollers because they're more meta centralizing to the tire meta compared to how Waluigi and Wiggler were to the character and vehicle metas respectively. Like at least with the old meta we had the Biddy Buggy competing pretty respectably to the Wiggler. With tires, it was and still is just a matter of pick the rollers or be at a noticeable disadvantage.

I don't think the difference is actually that huge. I've switched to Standard Tires for my main set up with the Jet Bike because the Mini Turbo buffs make it the same as it was before pre patch with the Rollers while now having much more Speed

@@BlackKyurem5 Yeah now that I think about it, I think I remember hearing that the Standard Tires, Leaf Tires, and Sponge are starting to see some use after this last patch. I personally would just like to see a universal buff to every tire's mini turbo stat because it feels like many tires become unusable on 200cc and even some 150cc tracks that have tons of turns.

wheels are hardly noticable (physically) so seeing a full race of rollers noone really cares. where as everyone using the same racer or car is just way more obnoxious and boring. (not disagreeing with you, but just saying the reasoning)

Honestly I feel like the using one of the characters you mentioned (+ the mario/ludwig class) and one of the kart frames you mentioned are all great options. The differences are very small so it's up to the individual player to prioritize surtain stats over others.

As an Inward drift guy, This new balance patch has been awesome, I've been rocking the yoshi bike with Luigi and lemmy and dry bones. It's actually able to hold its own against these combos and I'm having a blast online again.

Peach was my main so I love that she's viable now. I will say, something I've noticed using the Cat Cruiser/Teddy Buggy is that the hitbox on them is HUGE compared to Wild Wiggler. I've gotten hit by so many more green shells while trailing an item than I ever did before, even when driving straight and not taking a turn.

I’ve been using Luigi + Inkstriker because they felt better to me after starting out with King Boo + Teddy Buggy. Could be the smaller hitbox and even how the kart looks, since I used to play with DK + Standard Bike, so jumping up to the Teddy Buggy is a massive hitbox and visual change, whereas the Inkstriker is still pretty skinny and feels much more like the Wiggler and Standard Bike

Lightweight enthusiast here, and I'm currently using Toad/Streetle/Sponge. Good speed+mt combo for my weight class and amazing traction, which really helps with the influx of so many slippery tracks. And, like others have said, skill matters more, so even though it's a bit wack, it's possible to win at a decent rate.

Question - why the Inkstriker and not Standard/Duke/300 Roadster? From my reckoning, they're just better than the Inkstriker because they maintain the same speed and mini turbo as the Inkstriker, but trade points in weight and traction, for the more crucial (I think) acceleration and handling. Edit: they also have more invincibility. Check it out on the builder - any reason why? The Inkstriker just seems worse and I can't figure out why?

I feel like you are using an weird builder or aren't noticing some stat changes? for example the "maintain the same speed" is actually wrong, here is the exact list of what standard gains/loses compares to inkstriker Standard loses: 0.25 Air Speed 0.5 Anti-Grav Speed 0.25 Weight 0.25 Anti-Grav Handling 0.25 Traction Standard Gains: 0.25 Accel 0.25 Ground Handling 0.25 Air Handling (0.25 Invincibility if using 300 Roadster) overall the speed loss hurts a pretty decent amount compared to the accel & ground/air handling and while the 300 has higher invincibility its also an decent hitbox increase so its more of an equal-ish win/lose situation, standard is still an pretty good kart overall but i cant see how it would be better then ink in most situations.

Agreed. If you want Yoshi class with Rosa speed, I think this is the best build for it. It's barely "worse" than the Rosa build, but it has some advantages. The differences are negligible.

The stats are not as good but apart from that inside drifting bikes have a couple of disadvantages. One being the drifting itself. It's too rigid, and karts generally can take better lines (unless we're talking Toad's Turnpike). The other reason is to do with counter hopping for realignment. Inside drift bikes simply cannot really do this. Hope this helps

Before my main was DK/Roy/Waluigi in Biddy Buggy/Mr Scooty. I tried a bunch of combos and found that Birdo/Yoshi/Peach/Daisy in Biddy Buggy/Mr Scooty is what works best for me now. I also really like Baby Mario/Baby Luigi/Dry Bones on Mr Scooty because I find it really fun riding around in that trying to get all the mini turbos.

Waluigi The Duke is still viable with .25 more speed whilst maintaining the same miniturbo as Waluwiggler! Hitbox is abyssmal, sure, but it's still dope!

The problem with the balance patch is that it didn't do enough... the wheels for one... and also the lighter and heavier weights are now inferior to the middleweights. They just shifted things over slightly. But I think in order to get a big enough change, more than just stats need to be altered. Lightweights will always suck as acceleration doesn't matter when anywhere but 1st or 2nd you get overloaded with mushrooms. Huge speed from heavies also won't matter when it takes them a year to get a drift off, and they handle like doggie doodie. They need to change how items work (and imo should bring the fake box back, 1st place gets wayyyy too many defensive options) and coins are just literally there to sandbag 1st... and if you're me, 2nd and 3rd as well.

i kinda hope that by the end of this there will be a fair amount of characters and combos that are viable in the meta, with no true best combo existing and players instead having to decide what works best for them. the thing that always bothered me with waluigi wiggler was that it was pretty much only one thing you ever saw, players hardly had to think about what kart to pick because it was just immediately this is the best, therefore use it. It felt dull pretty fast, and also made looking at the map a bit confusing

while i think its impossible to not have an true best combo i can pretty happily tell you that after this patch we actually have a pretty giant amount of things be viable because the difference between best and "just" good builds got a lot smaller, for example depending on how you define it either all or all except 3 character types are viable (the 3 worst char types are technically viable but only "good" instead of "great" basically)

Looking back at the video, I will also have to say that the Yoshi Bike (or Comet…I prefer Yoshi Bike) is a top tier vehicle. It’s statistically the same as the Teddybuggy (and cat car), but with a much smaller hit box. However, it is much harder to master as it is inside drift.

acceleration isn't actually that important of a stat, its definitely not useless or anything don't get me wrong but the main 2 stats people care about when making builds are speed and mini-turbo and for those 2 you generally either want a relatively equal balance or an focus towards mini-turbo depending on playstyle (or for time trials depending on map)
