I believe Skylark, the original singers, have a much better version. New Birth's version is a bit over the top. It's a good version but not as clean as Skylark. The lead singer in Skylark, Donny Gerrard, has an amazing voice. He went on to be a backup singer for Mavis Staples. He died in 2022.

I cry happy tears everytime I hear music from my childhood. For me, the sounds produced during the 1960s to 1990s were just authentic! The 1970s was by far the greatest for me. You felt the the singers' voices and those instruments would hit deep within your soul. It only takes one video to drop in my feed and off I go into binge mode, searching for, listening to and watching as much as I can. Love it!

Melvin passed and time is moving so fast.

I saw New Birth in 1985 in LA and they gave me body chills! Especially when they sang Wildflower and Dream Merchant. Leslie, Melvin and their woman singer Londee were onstage with a band. They attracted alot of people at that downtown festival. Memories!
