Loving this podcast. I have used a tarpaulin bathroom in a village near the Karla Bhaja caves during a college field trip. As a city woman I was mortified, more so as the other more private option at the back of a house had a hole over a hillside crevice!!

Untrue , many upper castes still side with regional parties to enforce their own rule , jats , rajputs etc etc. Brahmins and baniyas have been staunch since janata party

I have gone through one podcast which discussed the paper he mentions on BJP and quickly realised that data presented in a way to reach at pre decided conclusion. That paper mostly focus on upper caste and neglect OBC voting trend. This author is great that he found out the missing part and proved the thesis wrong. Like Mark Twain said, "lies, damn lies and statistics"

@1.08.45 nalin says the ruthlessness of the party to remove 113 sitting MLAs and BJP did the same thing in uttarakhand in 2022 they removed 23 of the existing MLAs and 1 MLA was given a new assembly to contest

Alas, they couldn't show the same ruthlessness in UP. They were on course to do this, but I think the poaching of ~10 sitting ministers and MLAs by the SP made them stick with the sitting legislators to avoid rebellion.

I think BJP uses Hindus and Hindutva so that other parties be messed up in that, while they focus more on welfare, electricity, water supply, police, and roads. For a low average wealth state like India, these are really important issues. Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs also states the same, the lowest 2 of it that is physiological needs and safety needs which are basic needs are really important for an average Indian. Hindutva is for higher income (upper-middle-class and middle-class Hindu) who aren't that much based on population, but yea is really into this as it serves their self-actualization and psychological needs.

It is very wrong assumption, from 2014-19goverment has maintain inflation very well in single digit as comparing to upa double digit, gdp growth was phenomenal from 14- 18 , but 19 was bad period for our economy because this was the year that reflects the after math of demonotisation and gst implementation, somehow far, I can say gst was must reform but demonotisation can be debatable , people who supports government says , it helps in digitalisation and formalization of economy and reduce corruption, but it also drenched our msme and private sector, which leads to mass unemployment and insisted people to go back to agriculture, which is very low yelding sector.
