Do you know if your Cage for the Pocket Pro works on the new 6k Full Frame? Thank you for the video.

Very good question - - from what I can tell on a few threads on Reddit, it looks like the small rig 6K pro cage should also fit the new cinema camera 6K full frame. Thanks again for watching and if you do decide to get the full frame, I’d love to hear your thoughts on it!

Hello, I have a Nikon Z6, and I primarily use it for shooting weddings, real estate, and hotel advertising. I'm planning to upgrade my equipment, and I'm considering getting the Blackmagic 6K full-frame cinema camera. What is your opinion?
@JosephMcBrayer

Hey thanks for asking here-I don’t know the Nikon Z6, but I use the canon R6, which is a similar capacity photo/video full frame mirrorless. A few thoughts: 1) the new full frame blackmagic camera will be excellent for video, but he’s not used for still photography. So that’s a very different type of thing. 2) the black magic cinema camera is a full manual focus camera, which would be a big difference from the auto focus present in our Cannon/Nikon systems. So unless you’re experienced in other ways with manual, focus, that’s going to be one of the biggest things for you to consider. In wedding videography there are many things that happen only once and if it’s out of focus, then that’s bad for your client and ultimately, the bottom line. 3) Additionally, lenses for the L mount system are going to be different than your current Nikon set up. (I use a lot of EF glass adapted on canon mirrorless & is native to the Pocket 6k pro) 4) I do think the video image will be superior and look much more cinematic on the black magic camera, but it’s a very different system than Nikon, as well as editing in b raw as opposed to h.264/265 from Nikon.

I got one... I'm sending it back.. rolling shutter on it is insane, and I'm already having HDMI issues
@JosephMcBrayer

Oh no-I’m sorry to hear that. Rolling shutter is something I’ve heard of being pretty jello-y. The gyro data in daVinci can do something but I’m sorry to hear the issues. And also hdmi?! That’s no good. Hope you can get things resolved!

Actually the dropped the "P" in the name of the new Full Frame. 🙂 Anyway, thank you for sharing your thoughts! I love that the switched to L-Mount and I swapped my R6 for a S5 already. Having the 6K G2 only instead of the Pro though... 😀

Haha. Hard to break the BmPcc habit. I’m glad to hear your experience and going over all the way to L mount on the S5- so you miss anything from the Canon side of things? (I have some nice EF glass that I adapt for the R6 and would just get an adapter for the L mount full frame…maybe someday. Anyway, thanks for watching & commenting.

I do have some EF glass as well and I do have the SIGMA EF-L adapter, as a leftover from my fp. But to be honest Joseph @@JosephMcBrayer, I did not test the S5 too much until now, but the only thing I would miss would be the lenses anyway. As I am able to keep these, I am pretty happy. 🙂

Firmware updates with this camera are going to be great. Looking back on the release video was the emphasis on new and powerful electronics. This will go toe to toe with the Komodo x, I’m sure of it.

I'm hoping that BM continues to deliver on firmware updates and the like. Thanks again for watching and the comments here!

Been looking for this comment! I think the same. I know Panasonic and BM have released firmware updates that have added features further down the line. When I first got my BMPCC4k it didn't do 4K 2:4:1 75fps so am hopeful they add some higher frame rates in the future. I am still updecided whether I am going to add this to my set uo yet!

@@damiansciberras yes, I’m hopeful too that BM might give some further upgrades to the bmcc6K full frame. Thanks for watching & commenting.

I shoot with several BM cameras, but wanted to lighten up my gimbal package, and also wanted to understand the benefits of full-frame open gate cinematography, so I picked up an S5IIx for testing. It’s not a bad camera, and by chance the L-mount situation matched up with BM’s latest mount decision, but as soon as you add a Video Assist (I only have a 7”) that small gimbal setup starts getting heavy again, not to mention the lag coming out of the Lumix HDMI port. So to me the CC 6K fits my goals surprisingly well. I can shed the external SSD, and begin to plan shoots around the cloud workflow BM has introduced. Now if BM and DJI can work together to pass LiDAR data through the CC and control the Lumix lenses in the same way the S5IIx can, then I really will have a simple setup for certain kinds of active shooting (no word on that yet obviously). Regardless, adding a follow focus these days for small lenses does not add all that much bulk or complexity. Bottom line, as soon as my copy of the CC comes in, the Lumix will be sold or traded. Internal BRAW with a full frame, open gate capable sensor, that’s pretty much all I need.

Hey thanks for this info-glad to hear your experience with the S5IIx. The internal card recording is something I’m a big fan of as well. Sounds like the CC will hit well for your work! Thanks for the insights & thoughts!

I kinda feel the urge to get new FF 6k. But I bet there will be also Pro version with ND (hope electronic one) and probably new URSA model with same sensor (or even better one). L-mount offers cheap anamorphic glass, so this opens new array of possibilities.
@JosephMcBrayer
@JosephMcBrayer Жыл бұрын
Good thoughts here as always from you JoATTech. Anamorphic on this new camera should be a real win and thanks for pointing out that this may be the pre-pro version. The NDs on the 6k pro are definitely one of my favorite parts.

I used final cut for the first time today it took me like 20 minutes to get all my usual cutting and basic stuff the button layouts the same so it's really easy to adapt to DaVinci this is a DaVinci user talking by the way😅
