This is 100% worth it. With these, all of the weakpoints and issues with the Groms are gone. No weak diffs, driveshafts, or sluggish electronics. Plus we get the upgraded shocks and adjustable links. This is exactly what we needed. Now I gotta sell both my Mojave Groms 😂

I just recently gotten into the hobby and I started with the gorgon, then I purchased a fury and the vortex all the 550 mega brushed love them all my fourth one was the Omni Terminator great powerhouse just too small. I’ve ordered the big rock three SBX will be picking that up today. Don’t think I wanna go smaller than the terminator, especially for the price point

Yeah a lot of it just depends on where you bash. I do a lot of camping and have found that even small intense scale vehicles tend to get frowned upon by your neighbors but no one gives these little guys a second glance.

I’m with you on the value for money aspect. But keep in mind when it comes to bigger brand names, their msrp markup is always going to be higher to cover hobby shop retail price, unlike Chinese brands which have less markup to sell only through places like Aliexpress, Amazon, etc.

Wish they would do something about cooling the Mojave better. That body gets absolutely no air flow and my furitek system constantly overheats even with an upgraded fan. Take the body off, and no issues at all. Gonna have to retro fit some fans into the body. Maybe that’s a good video idea for you! I’m sure a lot of people are having the same issue

Yeah these only really make sense if you either just really like small trucks or are limited where you can bash sometimes. I love these things because I go camping a lot and I have found that people tend to frown when you break out of 1/10 scale but he's a little guys just look like tiny toys and no one cares.

Damn, they come with brushless motor ($53), a more powerful 3S ESC with built in receiver and gyro ($66), Aluminum shocks ($45), all metal/oil filled diffs ($45), adjustable turnbuckles ($8), steel axles and aluminum hexes ($30). That’s $247 worth of quality Arrma upgrade parts and you still get the same radio, 2S and charger, plus several fly new color combos and a full Arrma warranty for only $200 or about $50 more than the brushed model. It will go over twice as fast as “50+mph” with optional 3S LiPO vs about 18-20mph of the brushed ones on 2S. You give up only the stock brushed motor and 2S brushed ESC, something most of of have no use for after upgrading our Groms. I spent $149 for the brushed car, $70 for an ESC (4s but tiny), $29 for a bigger brushless motor, $45 for diffs, $8 for links, $20 for receiver with gyro, $30 for two 3S 2200mAh CNHL LiPos, $10 for a servo saver, $8 ESC plate, $6 20mm fan, $6 bigger pinion, and probably more just to have one without the $30 metal axles/hexes or the $45 aluminum shocks. So, I gladly spent more money for a car with about the same power and speed, $75+ less in upgrades, no cool pastel or black and gold body, or Arrma’s great warranty. The GROM223S cars are a SMOKIN’ deal and anyone who doesn’t immediately see that is not thinking straight. Now, I wish I’d waited two more months and bought the 223S version but, who really cares. I got what I wanted sooner and I don’t care if I had to pay more and build it myself. Anyone who balks at the higher price if the 223S versions and buys a brushed model Grom now should have their head examined though. Seriously good deal here!

I used my rlaarlo battery because it fits perfectly in the tray of my typhon grom and used a xt60 to ec2 adaptor. Ec2 to Ic2 is a tight fit but it works great!

This really makes me regret being an early adopter. The got the price right, because I have more money than that in the brushed version just with upgrading the axles and diffs. And now with these, they just murdered any resale value I had. Dang it! I might as well just do the preorder (although the Mojava preorder was quite the cluster). I do with they had something between the current Mojave Grom size and the 1/10 scale. Just a tad larger would help with grass/terrain. Will probably end up getting the Typhon, too. I don't know how I will justify either of these, but it is about what I would have spent putting the Furitek system in what I have and having to get Rx/Tx. I think I am girl mathing this into existence.

Yeah I think that's where the mini Max will have a big advantage. It's only a little bit larger than these but the tire diameter is a lot bigger which is going to give it quite a bit more ground clearance and make it more versatile.

@@DoRC Fair point. I was already considering getting one of those. I may try to talk myself off the ledge and just get that and wait until the BL Groms generally release. ALTHOUGH, my stepdaughter said she wanted an RC for Christmas - and that purple colored Mojave might pique her interest. If that does, I can swap the body and wheels between that new one and the red/black brushed one I have never ran - and we both get what we want. But also considering pushing her toward one of the new Arrma 1/10 models as they seem to be more versatile for around our yard. Or maybe TRX will do a Mini Max Slash, which would probably solve my problem.

As someone that very recently went down the brushless upgrade pipeline for the Typhon Grom: that's actually an excellent price. I even went very budget with my ESC/motor and by the time you factor in necessary metal upgrades...that price is fantastic. Surprised the motor is 4500Kv. My 3800Kv is already a beast on 3S, but definitely feels somewhat lacking on 2S.

I probably won't get one of these. But I will say it is a really nice option if you want a fast mini from a big name brand. At 50 mph with plenty of metal parts it doesn't seem like this is begging for upgrades the same way as the base model. Also I love that pink, purple, and blue color scheme on the Mojave. The '90s never died!

Ohhh I'm conflicted about these....i like an arrma and would love a brushless grom but bought a 4s mojave and the centre drive shaft didn't even last a battery pack. Now I'm having issues getting it sorted because I'm in the UK. Kinda not willing to give Arrma any more money till I get my money's worth from the broken £450 car....

Yeah fortunately it's not too difficult to swap out but I really would have liked to have seen the IC3. I think they pigeonholed themselves into the IC2 with the brushed version.

@@DoRC I found an IC2 to XT60 adapter cable so looks like there are alternative options out there. Spektrum don’t even make a decent capacity 3S battery with an IC2 connector which is a joke.

Soldering is pretty easy, and it's not like swapping the connector will void your warranty. Every Arrma warranty replacement I've got they don't want me to send in the broken part, they just ask for a picture and send me a new one. Just don't show the new connector in the picture and you're good to go!

You can but buying from Horizon has its advantages. The warranty is going to be easier to implement if you have to part support is guaranteed for a lot longer and upgrades if you're into them are going to be a lot more available.

@@DoRC on another note. Can you do a video on tires? I have the fury, vorteks and a few other cars. I am looking for something in the lines of good tires for track use and tires for bashing on the fury and vorteks. Kinda like a why a style/tire works for 1 situation. I feel like tires are a trade secret in the rc world.
