You mentioned the motor got hot on four s Not likely has to also deal with the increased diameter of those tires when you put a larger tire on your car you’re technically gearing up probably should’ve dropped a tooth off your Pinyan or two but I’m glad to see that little truck didn’t disappoint
@DoRCАй бұрын
Yeah the increased tire size definitely didn't help though It got pretty warm on the speedruns too. That motor just isn't designed to handle that kind of power. I'm also skeptical of how long it would last just by how fast it's rotating on 4S. 4500 KV on 4S is a lot
@AlbertPerry-f9hАй бұрын
@ absolutely 4500 is a monster high kv on that many cells I know I get kinda sketched on a 3000 kv on 4 s But it was certainly a great experiment and I think it looks great on those larger wheels Thanks for what you do I really like the technical side of building and design of these cars I enjoy to run but not really to watch others run on video lol You blend enough of both together that it’s bearable. I’ve watched other guys who go over the cars like you do but it’s brief then more is them running the car I’d rather see what and why things work and how to learn different ways to do those kinds of upgrades As I’ve been into this since the 80 s and started in the time when rtr wasn’t a thing Everything was you build the kit I work as a tech at a shop and use tons of different techniques that I learn from others to repair broken cars on for service As I can’t afford to buy every model I am not always familiar on how they disassemble and have learned a lot from guys who do have these different cars. Great lil buggy...and, MUCH better than the original brushed version. Glad I didn't buy that one. Upgrading of would have cost was more. Btw, I'm guessing you weren't aware that Arrma makes a separate servo mount & ESC mount - Servo Mount/Radio Deck for Standalone ESC/Receiver: GROM. The part number is ARA320753.

Yep. If you check my very first granite Grom video I have one of them in there. I just failed to buy one for this project so I 3D printed it instead

Dying trying to choose between this and the mini maxx. I’m afaird the MM will be too big for me since I already have the Omni terminator.
@DoRCАй бұрын
If you already have the OT go for this. The mini Max will be a little bit smaller than the OT but pretty similar. This will give you a different experience.

At first I was like eh, this is nice but I like center diffs, I’ll try the mini maxx. But now the mini maxx is $269, + $84 for the center diff, and probably 30 a servo and who knows what aluminum. Maybe the typhon BLX isn’t that bad of an idea after all
@DoRCАй бұрын
Yeah if you want a center diff on the mini-max you're definitely going to be paying for it

@DoRC24 күн бұрын
I like the typhon better because you can easily put bigger tires on it but the Mojave does give you more room under the hood if you are planning on messing with the electronics.

Awesome video! We upgraded our Typhon Grom 2S to a KingVal 3S brushless system and swapped out the diffs for metal ones. Managed to get it up to 58 mph, the video is on our channel if you want to check it out. These are awesome little cars.

I dont get it they have something wrong idk. Maybe its not enough power or something but my typhon i built is a 4500kv with a 21t pinionand it does 65 at least i had about 1/4 throttle left.
@DoRCАй бұрын
What ESC?
@darkoneokcАй бұрын
@DoRC I'm not sure I just know it's a spektrum 3s. But if I'm being honest 65 was on bumpy back country side roads. On a smooth surface I bet I could get a lot more out of it. The part we seem to forget, myself included, is weight. My goal with mine was to keep it as factory looking as possible, success, mostly. Lol. As light as possible, so while I improved the shocks I did not put the aluminum ones on. Keep a front weight bias to keep the wheels on the ground, and reduce friction as much as possible. Originally I did swap to the Gen 3 diffs but it slowed the car a bit. So I went back to the Gen 2 grease filled ones and it really makes the difference. Obviously the 3rd gen are better overall but with 4 different diff sets the 2nd gen grease filled seemed to have the least resistance, by speed, of the 4. The 4 I tried were gen 1 2 and 3 and an aftermarket set of oil filled. All the same result. The 2nd gen grease was 65mph repeatedly while the 3rd gen were 60-62 repeatedly. Anyway have fun. I probably should be doing some kind of work. Lol

3s on this scale is plenty. Lacking the place to run this. Parks around here are rather rough. Trying below a 10 scale flies around like a toy
@DoRCАй бұрын
Yeah these small wheeled vehicles definitely have some limitations like that. I think that's why Traxxas is going for such large tires on the minimax
@Vel_178Ай бұрын
@@DoRC At 280 usd they can keep the mini maxx lmao. Let's wait for rpm to cook some nice parts for these new arrmas. I put my christmas paycheck down on a vorteks 2wd. Unbreakable. 15 feet pavment slapper and only bend a shock. Hammer it back and nothing else.
