I always liked that the New Camp was the only one that bothered with agriculture and being self-sufficient. They built a dam, they set up rice fields to feed themselves, they ran their own mine, etc. The Old Camp just traded food for ore with the outside world and the Swamp Camp traded food for weed with the other camps. Those two bypassed the food production issue via trade. But since the New Camp collected all their ore for their escape plan, trade was out of the question.

You happened to forget the regular raids by bandits and mercs on the convoys from the exchange to the old camp. They had a source of food, yes. But those few tiny rice fields could have never supplied the entire new camp and mine combined. And some of it was even diverted to make booze out of it.

​@vortimerofkent128 They had 3 hunters while the old camp had only cavalorn who joined the water mages in 2 so we can assume he often traded with the new camp.

@@vortimerofkent128 Correct, there were the raids on OC caravans to and from the exchange site (starting point of the game). But the NC, meaning mainly the bandits, couldn't overdo it, as it would risk open war with the OC. If the OC was squeezed too hard, then the Ore Barons could feasibly hit back hard.
