Folks, just remember this tech used to cost $80,000 30 years ago (Ikegami and RCA units) and it weighed a ton, along with the Gitzo tripod that weighed a ton and a half (thus, no women were in video field production, cuz they couldn't carry the gear, lol). For THIS price point and this size/weight, just buy the top of the line of each segment and be content. Any ENG camera less than 5 figures is a Godsend. btw, lenses have NOT advanced; we had 20:1 Fujinon lenses on each of the Ikegami cameras & each chunk of glass cost $20,000.

To anyone that might see this to access slow motion you go under recording settings in menu and click on fast and slow motion. If you want to access slow motion in 4k drop your frame rate from 29.97 p to 23.98 (which is the lowest) to record in 0.8 but if want to record even slower drop the resolution and frame even lower for the functions 0.5 or 0.4

People don't understand these devices. Just talking about frames per second. These are not action cams or slow motion work horses. Learn to use a specific device for specific purpose.

full frame low light camcorder is what i need to not buy the FX3 or FX6 by Sony for weddings. Without lowlight, there is a lot of grain at wedding receptions on the crane shot.

At least they should offer internal 10 bit 4.2.0 recording. This is basically the XA50 with the 3.5 inch display that should had come with the XA50 in the first place. If they don't change this the XF400 at least offers 4k 60p, 1080p 120fps and 10 bit recording trough HDMI

agreed.. the VERY least offer 4K60p. And it would have been a nice overall update. Yes the LCD on the XA50 was just horrible. Im glad they made it a lot better on this model. But.. the 4K60p woulda been the icing.

10 bit is the exclusive domain of broadcast (for the most part) and the mfr's want $4,000 to $8,000 for each platform flying out the retailer's door. Get used to it; these platforms cost $20k to $100k 5, 10, 15 years ago. Sure there might be one (Panasonic) then get 'dat one!

I read on your site that the USB cables (IFC-400U and IFC-150AB III) for live-streamingf do not support audio output. Has that changed? It seems pointless to offer livestream functionality without sound.

I'm a little surprised Canon did not respond to this question. The whole point of sending audio back to the camera immediately is to pair and sync it with video. If the camera can't send paired video and audio through USB from the camera to the computer for livestreaming, it's a huge fail.

@@spelunkerd I cannot understand the engineering explanation for this missing and essential function. I hope it’s not some ridiculous reason such as an import tax. I remember reading that some camcorders will not record a continuous single-file video clip beyond 30 minutes, otherwise it qualifies under an upgraded professional category for import taxes. Either way, Canon needs to correct this issue. This camera is excellent for portable and mobile ENG work. In 2023, full function streaming should be standard (or at least available on an upgraded version) on a camcorder like this.

Hi! The XA75 and XA70 are fixed-lens cameras, but you can attach the Tele-Converter TL-H58 or the Wide Attachment WA-H58 for longer or wider fields of view 👍

@@summerofsam99 of course it can be added in firmware update. But the secret is that Canon always cripple their prosumer models so if you want a little better you have to go for their PRO models like xf605. Those are bussines decisions for better profit which I understand

Headroom people!!!! xD But can I set costum color profiles? Best would be if I could export davinci resolve costum LUTS to the camera so I have no color post processing. SONY Z90 has great colors right off the camera but no USB-C. ... and 35mm as minimum wide angle is rather close for EB. Love the Infra red night mode on this camera. great selling point!

@@gurugamer8632 so where are the phantom power XLR inputs? I rigged a mirrorless camera up for TV work once. It looked ridiculous because it was more complex than any other rig I saw before. You couldn’t run with it or throw yourself on the ground. For TV, there is no script. Anything can happen.

get used to it; this product category is a dying segment; be happy with what you get and buy all the xtras. The 4k smart phone is the death knell for lots of camcorders. In a few years, there might not be any, xcept broadcast platforms.
