The problem I have with this new format is the increased amount of games, teams not really being incentivized to push for a rank just outside the top 8, the fact that there are now more teams to where a City, Madrid, Bayern Munich or other similarly sized teams, now face more teams which are practically easy pushovers. Yeah you pretty much knew those team would likely win their games against the two lesser teams in the group, but you know have 3-5 teams in which you would think that a lot of teams could dispatch them easily
@jmtz31494 ай бұрын
I agree with your first point, the extra games will cause problems. On your second point, the opposite is true as well. They 3-5 pushovers but they also pay 3-5 big teams.

In my opinion, this format gives lesser teams more chance to qualify to the knockouts or at least the playoffs, and who knows what'll happen there, and big teams HAVE to perform otherwise they'll have 2 extras matches (playoffs) which they probably don't want to, 2 losses could do all the difference between automatic qualification or playoffs, or even getting into playoffs or being eliminated, from my experience playing this format on Football Manager, this new UCL is great, I've had success with big teams and small teams, didn't win the whole thing yet because City and Madrid slaughter my team but the format overall is good

I was very against this new format at first, but i actually love it. It makes every big team face another big team 2 times, and in some cases, like PSG, 4 times. Also it gives smaller teams a chance to host a big team 2 times too (1 from pot 1 and 1 from pot 2, if they are lucky). It also gives more money to these smaller teams, which is really good and important for them. In my club, Sporting (i know we aren't small, but we are not a giant, like Barcelona or City, etc), but I LOVE the fact that we get the chance to host the 2 BEST TEAMS in the premier league right now (City and Arsenal). I'm really looking forward to see those 2 home games, and tbh, the way we are playing right now, I kinda fancy our chances vs City and Arsenal. We have knocked both of them out of the Europa League in the past (Arsenal being much more recently) and I know we can beat them if we play like I know we can. For the small teams, getting drawn against a big club, is actually good. Think of all the really small teams, that get the chance to say: We hosted Bayern in the UCL...for Bayern, is just another game, for the small teams, it's the biggest game of their club's history. Not to mention their fans get to go on away trips to Paris, Madrid and Milan... Personally, I really wanted Aston Villa to host Madrid or Barça. That would've been GLORIOUS for them, and I would've loved to see that match, but Bayern will do, tbh. And you never know, upsets can happen... Also, has a Sporting fan, I find it funny that Bologna has 2 away trips to Lisbon, to 2 different stadiums, that are seperated by a 5 min drive. The 2nd time they go there, they will be like: Haven't we been here before? 😂 Imagine telling a Girona fan, before the start of last season, that they would be hosting Liverpool and Arsenal, and have away trips to PSG and AC Milan... Imagine telling Brest at the start of last season, that they would play against Real Madrid and Barcelona in the UCL next season... Bratislava will play against City, Bayern, AC Milan and Atletico... I LOVE THIS NEW UCL FORMAT
@justinsm4 ай бұрын
Man, for Bratislava. This is the first time they got qualified to UCL and they're playing against every European giant possible. Brest got a chance to play against 2 biggest Spain and possibly team in the world (Should be when both dominating Europe but oh, well). Girona's manager Michel have a dream to play against Liverpool. It's not in ANFIELD it's in their home but, hey it came true. And the rest are like Bratislava as both of their debut in Europe. Aston Villa have great memories of Bayern in 1982. But, hey i also interested for PSG vs ATM because despite both always play in UCL in the last decade they're surprisingly never met in their history that's insane. Hope the best for Sporting. With the draws i believe you would at least appear in KO stages again. Amorim is an amazing young manager. winning 2 league titles in the last 3 years which is your 4th in 21st century..

I don't know but I believe the better teams will definitely rise to the top and this will also prevent some teams from cruising in the last two games as there's a bigger chance of dropping placements in the table while the reverse is also true as there will be more teams fighting for a qualifying spot. We'll see how it goes, there might be some surprises too. Let the games begin!

I’m kinda excited too, and I actually think it’s a fairer comp overall with less emphasis on pots 1-2 getting an easier run. The knockout playoffs for 9th-24th also should sift out teams who had an “easier league stage” so the teams in the final 16 should actually be the best 16 teams.

to have better player Well being. we need clubs to have more players and players to be limited on how much they can play each week and each month, like a player should be allowed to play 180(2full game) min each week but 540min(6full game) each month. or something like that which allows players to not miss important games and play 2 game in a row if they must and forces clubs to give players rest to avoid injuries. and clubs should be able to have more players as well. if they apply this system properly every club can play every 2 days or even every day(if they have more than 1 coach) and still be fine given they would have as much player as they need. at the end of the day the more famouse clubs play more games the more money will be generated by this

The intrigue will lie in the play off spots, matches like benfica vs club bruge not exactly upper echelon. The key to this competition being interesting will be in how the fixtures are organised. It's imperative they get the balance right
@maciejbala4774 ай бұрын
it won't be done any differently than it was done before. You'll expect to play 2 teams from pot 1, 2 from pot 2, and 3 and 4 and so on. Which is how the old UCL groups were drawn too, 1,2,3,4. So it will be just as balanced (or unbalanced) as if it was champions league groups, although i guess it advantages the minnows a bit more since e.g. a team from pot 4 before would only play one from 1, 2 and 3, now they'll also play 2 teams from pot 4. And big teams will also meet more often because pot 1 teams have to play other pot 1 teams in the league stage too. Of course the pot system with the club coefficients isn't perfect, but honestly it's probably good enough

It needs to be 16. Top 8 will face the winners of the 9-24 knockout phase. Leaving 16 teams for the round of 16.
