Those doubledecker IC-trains are originally made for regional traffic, hence the small legroom. And as for Dresden main station one can see that the size and layout of the station reflects the time before WWII when Dresden was more important and busy as it is today (despite being the Capital of Saxony). In Leipzig - a major city near Dresden - the situation is similar. Its main station is even bigger than that of Frankfurt/M. but much less busy.
@outdoorolli57544 жыл бұрын
Dresden and Leipzig Central stayed busy after WWII, because trains were the main means of passenger transport in the GDR until it's fall. Late in the 90s people switched to cars and many moved to the West, so these stations only today seem to be inadequately large. But as public transport is promoted to have a comeback in the next years, one should be glad, that at least some of the central stations seem to have the capacity to do more business - unlike Colone, Hamburg and Hannover for example.

Bench seating on the ends of the upper floor is unavoidable because the door is right below and its drive needs some space that would prevent putting regular window seats there. These benches aren't reserved, but at times of high demand I'm sure they are used by passengers who haven't booked a seat. They also offer a way for groups to come together. I like the little brochure specifically for that line. But they should modify the snack and drink machines to accept credit cards.

What really strikes me as odd is that German intercity trains always also stop at the weirdest small stations. Surely some stations are explainable, there might be an airport nearby, a big event or a city that just doesn't connect to the line but often this doesn't seem the case. Do local governments lobby to have these intercity connections?

Nowadays (from November 20) instead of Schoenefeld (now named Terminal5 of BER) the train stops and turns at BER Terminal 1&2. It enters the airport tunnel from the west and starts in the same direction again (Reference e.g: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pnOUpYeFbdpljac)So most probalby it did it on your trip in October in Schoenefeld. The IC/s should be speedy trains. So my question is, how long did it take to change from the top of the train to the end, to change the direction, so relatively short before the stops downtown in Berlin (SouthCross and Main station...). The impact on the continuation to Rostock(Warnemuende) might be less important... Thanks!

@@SuperalbsTravels Well, in Germany You say „Nur bares ist wahres“ which means „Only cash is the real deal“ I think that summarizes it pretty well. People want to keep track of their purchases, and that is best done if you give away something. You will spend more money if you just have a plastic card that you swipe, or put in a snack machine and pull back out, you just don’t feel like you are loosing, or giving away something. There was a survey that showed 80% of Germans only use credit cards foronline shopping, and barely take them outside, and for the normal Debit cards, they are just used if there isn‘t enough cash in your wallet, or if you want to get cash form the ATM.

We should stop using Stadler trains because they behave very inappropriately. First FLIRT then KISS.😑😑🙄🙄

It's a pity that they didn't name the EC250 Giruno "SEX" :D (could have been an acronym of "Super Express"). Instead, they named it SMILE.

Next thing you know, we'll be riding BANG units.

@@markoobid2005 That's even weird😫First FLIRT, then KISS, then SMILE. The combination in the same order is weird. Good thing they didn't name it SEX, otherwise...😨
