I compare the KOKORO prototype to the Tenkarabum 36 and Anglo & Co Wasabi to see if this Korean made rod is as good as Japanese tenkara rods.

As always, an outstanding and through rod review Kris. A 5 gram increase in weight is insignificant for the rod’s added grip length over the other two rods. And, If you cast the rod with your first finger resting on the rod blank in front of the grip, any felt tip heaviness will all disappear. Brent and his rod engineers have done an outstanding job in designing the KOKORO Rod…Karl

You had mentioned Tom Davis putting tape on the handle of the TB rods to make it thicker. He holds his rod at the butt end of the handle. It is not that the handle is not thick enough at the butt end of the handle but that the thick part is not long enough at the butt end of the handle for Tom's liking so he makes it longer with the added tape.

Correct. Thanks for clarifying, Brent. Nothing wrong with the rod or design, just a personal preference.

Great information, like always…. I’ve watched your videos , Toms and Brent’s on this rod. This will be my 5th Dragontail (Nirvana) rod and my last rod purchase . Won’t be able to fish it until probably late September do to the temps in SE Pa. Always enjoy your videos…..

I do have a comment about swing weight, because you mentioned how the rod flex affects it. A larger diameter handle grip will also affect how swing weight feels. Use the T-USA Ito as an example, swing weight measures high but that beefy large diameter handle grip makes it not feel so heavy. A larger diameter grip provides more support when casting, something us fly fishers have stated for years to the fly rod manufacturers that insist on slimming down the cork diameter on their rods (for those of us that prefer holding a Tenkara rod at the largest diameter part). I have noticed the same with Tenkara. Maybe they can make a 400 cm version of the Kokoro, thanks for your comparisons.

Very true. A skinny grip requires more effort to hold onto and can be more tiring which people translate into swing weight. But the ito always felt very tip heavy to me at the longest length. The softness of it helps alleviate that a little bit

I will eventually make the 400cm version, that is my favorite length. But we will be doing a shorter version first as that is what most people are wanting.

@@DRAGONtailTenkaraWould a 400cm length naturally have a higher threshold for a little bigger fish size due to the extra leverage? I got your 360 version but definitely curious about when you come out with a longer version as well, due to living in more of a warm water, bigger bodies of water area of the country.
