We’ve also had ours about a year now and I’ve finally done the front diff after tons of bashing. The esc also holds up to running on 3S (35mph). A really good wheel upgrade are the LC Racing MTs which are a bit bigger and have the perfect offset but aren’t too heavy.They hook up better on and off road. I run 40wt Shock oil in ours as it does a lot of skatepark bashing. The shocks can leak so suggest getting a pair of spares in as they’re a very cheap replacement. Due to the lower body and different mounting position of the rear shocks it actually handles slightly better than the hbx pro

Hey Ben, I love what you've done to your DR8, it looks sweet.!! (your den too).!! I got mine before they became cool. 😂 😂 It's well over two & a half years old now & I still use it regularly.! (a couple of times a week) I've jumped it to ridiculous (for me anyway) heights onto tarmac. I've GPS'd it at 78 mph with a Surpass rocket 4282/2060kv motor & 160A ESC in it.(Before it went up in flames inside my Hobao GT ).!! I've crashed it so many times at high speed & sent it tumbling & scraping down the road & it's been fine.! So after all that abuse I'm thinking of giving it a freshen up.... Because it's worth it.! 😂 I'm still on the original bearings, the motor went bad about 2 months ago, the ESC died 5 months ago, I'm nearly through the 2nd set of oem tyres, it's still got 3 original arms. I've replaced the hinge pin holders a few times & I've just replaced the rear hub mounts because they were a bit wobbly. I think it's hands down the best 6S, 1/8th scale off road RC you can buy today.! A big thing for me is diffs, I hate dealing with them.! I've only needed to open the DR8's diffs to put oil in them, that's it.!! I'm addicted to full trigger starts, I love watching & filming them, I also drive on tarmac a lot so you can imagine how many diffs I blow through (FTX 1/10'th diffs I'm looking at you).! Sorry for the mega long comment but before I go I just want to say how good your channel is becoming, I've been subbed since you started & it's awesome to see you get more confident & more polished.! I've thought about doing an RC channel, I've got tons of video that I could edit but unfortunately I have PTSD, anxiety & severe depression & I often struggle just to get up, washed & dressed. Because it's so hard for me to focus & concentrate, by the time I've worked on my RCs & taken them out for an hour or so I'm thoroughly exhausted.! Watching guys like yourself gives me the confidence & drive to get up & go outside with my RCs.! RC is actually therapeutic for me, I picked the hobby back up about three years ago when my illnesses coupled with self medicating with alcohol landed me in hospital on deaths door, the Doctor asked about my life & when I told him how little I did week after week, he basically ordered me to find something that would engage & reward me... So I chose RC & I immediately became addicted to it.! The money I've saved by not drinking now gets spent on RCs, it's so good to actually have something to show instead of an empty bottle in the bin.! This hobby has brought me happiness, fulfillment, purpose, a sense of achievement & most importantly... a future.!! It's not an over exaggeration to say that RC saved my life & by extension, guys like yourself on KZbin helped too.! THANKS MATE.!!! Stay safe out there & best wishes from Scotland 🏴 🙏 ❤️ 📻 🕹️ 🔋 🚗 🚖 🚕 🚔 🚚 🚙 🚘 🚓 🚒 🚑 🚐 🚎 🚤 🚁 🛩️.!

Hi Alan sorry for the late reply I've had a crazy week at work. Thank you for the comment it's the nicest one I've had. I had a similar experience I had been furloed from work which ended up with me becoming depressed I didn't see the point of getting up in the morning or even really being here. I had consultations with doctors and was put on anti depressants and told to find a hobby. I set about fixing some old tamiyas I had and went to KZbin for tips and I found tomley RC and watching made me think hey I could give that ago and the rest is history as they say I'm not on any drugs now and it really has turned my life around. I owe RC and Phil at tomley alot. The story is a bit more complicated than I've written here as I don't want to make it too long but this was The basics. Might do a video on it one day. Thank you very much for the kind words and for watching and I would say if you want to make a channel just do it and upload anything you have don't worry too much about the editing it's a real feel good moment getting even 1 view and it's exciting to see if people think it's any good, you always have people that like to say negative things but I've found it just washes over me now and I find them kinda funny. Right that's it I've gone on long enough keep safe, keep happy and I hope you carry on enjoying this great hobby.

I think the best 1/8 basher is still the E maxx, althoug its a i think 24 year old design! But once you put the rpm upgrades on it, and the steel center driveshafts, you simply cant break it! And the diff are even holding up to the worst thing you can do to them: driving on when you lost the diff bearings! I've done it, and when i opened it, i was surprised to find the bearingparts crushed to dust between the gears, and the diff still almost as new, just a few scratches. And there are still people actually complaining about the e maxx stock diffs...

There are minor differences, but if you didn’t any of the earlier HBX variations you would not know. I have 600 and a 1602. Other than issues with the bodies that I just fix. They have taken a beating for awhile from kids to new adults that want to try them. Not one broken part, and I ran both right out of the box.

Silly question (this is my very 1st rc arrived today)...when you pull/push back is a geary/grindy noise on the back wheels normal (i guess so? Will run it later). Great vid btw
@noobrccars43922 жыл бұрын
Hi there. All questions are good ones. congrats on your first rc car. i would say yes that is normal it sounds like the noise your hearing is the motor turning it makes a weird geary noise it gets louder the bigger the motor.

I searched specifically for this. I unboxed this RC few minutes back and first thought was damn I have broken rear differential... But I see I am not the only one who have this "problem" so I guess this is normal on this car, rear differential is little different than the front and has this cracking sound before it spins the other wheel? Also it would be really good if the author mentioned this in the video.

I just received mine in the mail, first “nicer” RC I’ve ever had. Followed the instructions exactly for assembly and charging the battery, etc., but the remote doesn’t connect to the car. I have a green light on the remote, but the ESC continues blinking. Anyone have suggestions? Classic Christmas gift that ends in tears when it doesn’t work 😂

This is a really fun toy! I bought one for Christmas and didn't follow advice from everyone about using loctite for the wheel hubs. Does anyone know how to find a replacement? I've been searching all over and I've not found something I'm confident will work.
