Little did we know, this was the beginning of the end for Mitsubishi and Nissan...

Neat video. My next car will probably be a CVT of some sort.

Good video, although I do not quite learn which of the new features are for small engines CVT and which for the larger engines CVT. As I bought a small engine CVT car, I would love to know.

This CVT is for Nissan vehicles for 4 cylinder 2 liters and 3.5 liter v6 engines

Drawbacks: 1) Poor Torque Capacity (trucks/SUVs/buses won't use them) 2) Poor Off-Road Performance (can't transfer engine power quite as easily because of less friction) 3) Poor Reliability (example: Ford Freestye, low torque capacity, belts not as durable as metal gears) And no 7.000 is not the worlds largest ratio coverage, the current ZF 8 speed has coverage of 7.07. The 8 speed auto used in the Volkswagen Touareg has a range of 7.25. The upcoming nine speed auto will have about 9.8.
@Universal.G10 жыл бұрын
With mitsubishi you can lock it into a ratio you need in manual mode, and it will keep the torque in the sweet spot, works great off road actually.

+ExactlyPrecisely The Main Battle Tank of the Japanese Army has CVT.... So, poor torque capacity?? Poor off road performance?? On reliability maybe you are right. Jatco CVT was tested in the laboratory under extreme stress. 6 were tested, 3 broke down after 150.000 km (so three did not) and again it was a test under extreme conditions, so variable input of torque all the time, high speed and so on.

We all know the CVT in Nissan is so FU. If Mitsubishi shares the same with Nissan.... 🤐
@ronaldderooij17746 жыл бұрын
Except that Mitsubishi uses it smarter than Nissan by adding a two speed conventional automatic (planetary gear) to the CVT. This greatly reduces the job of the CVT. Less wear an tear therefore. Furthermore. Mitsubishi uses less powerful engines for the same CVT, thereby again causing less stress for the CVT.

@@ronaldderooij1774 Completely agree. Ive called transmission repair specialists im my area. They all say the same thing. "I rarely see a Mirage with a failed CVT under a 180k miles. Only time I replace them is when they put the wrong fluid in the CVT, destroying it in the process. The dual gears added was a great thought. Did you read that somewhere?
@paulrakis6 жыл бұрын
CVTs should only be used in small engines like only 4 cylinders NA or turbos. V6 since now we already know that CVT dont hold up will with larger engines. I have a 2016 outlander great CVT and very good on gas. Nissan is having alot of trouble with pathfinder and maxima. SO STAY AWAY FROM THOSE CARS.
@kylemas20055 жыл бұрын
I agree completely. My 2014 Mirage has a Jatco CVT7. Mitsubishi reprogramming accounts alot for their better reputation of reliability than say a Nissan programmed CVT. It also helps my hp is a laughable 74 and car weight is 2000 lbs. Thats a lot less stress on my CVT. Love the money Im saving in fuel cost from the efficiency of the CVT7. Cheers man!

Stick Shift or nothing
@olegs797 жыл бұрын
Ok buddy. Stick shift on the interstate with stop and go traffic.
@barryervin85365 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, it's a fact that today only a very small percentage of car buyers want or will buy a stick shift. So any company that makes only stick shift vehicles will rapidly go out of business, leaving you with no vehicles to buy.
