Nice to see a review of this card. I bought one earlier this year because I was constrained by power (no 6 pin) and small form factor. I just built a new computer that overcomes both of these constraints but carried the old card over for now. Also another feature of some of the GDDR6 1650s is the improved Nvidia encoder for livestreaming/video recording with programs such as OBS. Some of the 1650 GDDR6 cards use the Turing encoder vs the older Volta. The 1650 GDDR6 cards that use the newer Nvidia encoder are the TU116 and TU106 cards.

The original GDDR5 (and the first GDDR6) cards used the 200mm TU117 die. They had the 5th gen Volta encoder, and a TDP of 75w. On 6/18/20, they released a new variant of the GDDR6 1650 using the 445mm TU106 die from the 2070 that uses the 6th gen NVENC encoder and has a TDP of 90w. The TU116 die is used for the 1650 Super and 1660's.

For low end gamers, this is a beast. "Low end" can be different for different people. For example, I am a peasant gamer and consider 1050ti as entry level, 1060 as mid range and 2060 as high end, everything higher are divine hardware only gods can possess. But for some people, a gt1030 can be an entry level and might consider 1060 as a high end card. Meanwhile 3000 series cards owners might think 2080ti is obsolete.

Love the vids dude. Could you include in your testing how well the cards perform with a quick MSI overclock? Maybe you could make it a whole video showing how well different cards overclock. For example I would guess that a card that takes it's power from the mobo would be more limited in it's overclocking potential than one with a power supply? I was just thinking that the gddr6 gives a similar 5%-10% increase in fps, similar to the boost from an afterburner clock.

So strange to me that a full triple A gaming experience is perfectly achievable on such low tier hardware. I was astounded with the RX 5500XT I bought my girlfriend when I was running AC Valhalla in 1080p at the medium preset with textures set to high at roughly 40fps. My 5600XT can't even get those frames smoothly at 1440p. I'm planning on building a 60fps low-end gaming PC for the bedroom TV, and a card like this for a small form factor might do the trick. Absolutely love these videos, because never would I have looked at a 1650 of any kind and go "Yeah that'll play the newest games at high 1080p" until now. Appreciate this.

They're really good for specific use cases. Get a used SFF office PC with an i7, throw a low profile 1650 D6 in it, and you've got a capable gaming setup for less than you'd pay for a console. That's what I did for my kids. Got some PCs with 4770/4790 CPUs in them, finally found 1650 D6s on sale for less than the price of a DDR5 version, and done. More capable than they even need.

I was tempted to get one until I realized how weak it is. I don't think it's a bad card for the money, but it's one of those cards where I would save up a bit more and buy something like a 1660ti which was the card I got. overclocked it and very happy with it.
@OutlawedPoet
@OutlawedPoet 3 жыл бұрын
@Anand Shah you're right, which is why I said it would be better to save up more money. the 1660ti is about 70-80% faster than the 1650 plus it has more vram for $130 more which is a steal IMO. if we're talking about the 1650 super, that might be debatable but I would still save up for the 1660ti or the 1660 super since they have 6GB of VRAM and are a bit faster. by the way, instead of a 1660ti, I would go with a 1660 super since the performance is near the same as the 1660ti and is about 40$ cheaper which is an even bigger reason to save up more for that extra vram and faster performance.

I'm VERY curious to see if you can get your hands on a TU106-based GTX1650. It was launched July of 2020 and is based around a cut-down RTX 2070 core. According to Techpowerup, it still retains all of the Tensor cores and RT cores from its fully-unlocked version. All the cards based on this will have GDDR6 memory AND a 6-pin power connection, as this version holds a 90W TDP. Notable cards that have this chip include the Asus TUF GTX 1650 GDDR6 and the EVGA GTX1650 KO GDDR6. I'm mostly interested if this chip can support DLSS in supported titles, because if so, it could be a very exciting budget entry in order to use DLSS to hit playable framerates at 1080p in otherwise stuttery games.

I chose the gtx 1650 Kalmax from palit (completely passive card) for my father as a stop-gap solution until rtx 30 last year. The requirement was at least 3 displays at the same time and ideally useable as a test card (so no power connecter if possible) for other systems and fairly cheap. He even used it to play some Flightsim at 1080p and to my surprise, it did better than i thought and the card stayed at 70 degrees. I was really surprised what 75w low-end cards can do by now. But in January I got an rtx 3070 too many (for just 650€) which he is using now. He got incredibly lucky with his GPU buying, without even trying.

I've had a low profile GTX 1650 (GDDR5) for a few weeks now. I like building in SFF cases so it was pretty much my best option. WIth an i7-4790S, I get 120fps on Rocket League at 1080p. Killing Floor 2, 1080p, 40-60fps with nearly maxed settings + Nvidia Flex turned on. Bioshock Infinite at 1440p/60fps. Skyrim SE @ 1440p/60. Warzone at 1080p/60 even if by slightly going over the recommended VRAM usage. I think this card gets a lot of undeserved hate. Nvidia should've marketed this as only a low profile/sff card, as that's pretty much the only scenario in which it makes sense to go with this card. For regular sized builds, you'll obviously want a 1660 minimum, but I'm beyond happy with the performance this offers.

I just got a GTX 1650 a few days ago- the Zotac with one fan. Very small form factor. Figured I'd drop a cheap card into my old prebuilt (had a 745 OEM which was not handling ANYTHING) to extend the lifespan while I wait for the market to stop being untenable so that I can build something more impressive. It does the job. I can play pretty much anything so long as I keep graphical settings low, which is what you'd expect. For anyone with a crappy old PC that needs a small, low power card that can be powered directly from the PCI slot, I guess I'd recommend this. Yes, it's underpowered for a modern card and at 230 quid it's more than I would want to pay for something of this power, but for old PCs with low power PSUs and cramped space, this is one of the few available options.

we are talking about a *75watt* TDP GPU , so the bad/good point of view depends on the creteria each one is using. For example ,this card is *perfect* for people with crappy quality or very low-capacity PSUs . (Many customers who don't have a clue about building their own PCs ,and rely to 3rd people or local shops for choosing/building them a PC , they often fall victims of poor component selection , and the PSUs are the perfect example) ---P.S. The GTX1650 is around 15% slower than the RX570 , while consuming *less than HALF* the power while gaming *64watt Vs 167watt* (from @Techpowerup Palit GTX 1650 StormX OC review ). *So according to my own criteria that i set as a customer ,i don't agree with all those reviewers praising the RX570 , since for me ,an extra +15% for gaming performance isn't woth a +250% increase in power consumption*

I've got the 2070 Mini version of this card & looks near enough identical, I believe Asus originally released it solely for Intel to use in their new NUC machines but since made them retail. Great cards for the money and handle the thermals well considering it's a Mini variant - but the card really only likes to be used in the vertical position and not in the standard horizontal config as such used in ATX cases. When placed horizontally, the fans really make some horrific catching noises when they are ramping up from like 500rpm - 2000rpm & only for a few seconds, the same goes when the fans slow down as well. Strangely and when in the vertical position which is 100% the time now (SG13 case), no strange noises from the fans at all.

Since I bought before the Gddr6 versions released I can't say any regrets so far. Unfortunately it looks like I won't be getting anything better till I build a new PC for at least another 4-6 months if Fortune falls my way. plus you can overclock these cards a bit for some extra frames giving you that stock 1650 super performance if you're lucky.

I just bought an MSI ITX 1650 on ebay. Honestly the 75w version is pretty great! I am very satisfied with it. I mostly use my pc on a TV with 60fps refresh rate, and that distance makes some finer graphics options that take up more resources (fxaa, etc) don't need to be nearly as sharp and I won't even notice. The thing runs smooth and I have been playing (and even streaming) GTA V and having a blast. When I upgrade my PC with a 3060ti in, like, a decade, I am hoping to stuff this lil guy in a console-equivalent itx case with a ryzen 1200 I have hiding around my house somewhere.

I believe this is the strongest graphics card you can buy new currently that doesn't need an additional power connector, making it the most powerful card you can use in a lot of older used or budget systems that don't have a sufficiently strong PSU or a PSU that doesn't have additional cables, which is the perfect consumer target for this card if you're looking for something new or really need lower power consumption. Neat little overhated card imo. I hope the next gen brings us another connector-less 75 watter, those are a blessing for the right market.

Here in early 2022, the GTX 1650 is hovering around $300. The 1650 Super is selling for $400-500. I'm not a heavy gamer, and I'm not too keen about spending significantly more for a graphics card than a CPU, so $300 is about my limit. I have it paired with an i5 12600k (not overclocked) and 32 gigs of DDR4, running Windows 11. It's fine for my needs, and should last me a good while (4-8 years is my hope). I can always upgrade the graphics card along the way, should I have a need to, of course. Currently, you can get an RX 6500XT for a tiny bit less than a GTX 1650, so that would probably be a better choice, but when I first purchased my card, the AMD option was not to be seen. If I had waited a couple of months longer, I may have opted for it instead.
