This video is a detailed and comprehensive review of the Harder and Steenbeck Infinity CRplus equipped with the NEW Version 2.0 .15 needle. Within this buyer's guide we are looking at all the pros and cons of this airbrush. We are also comparing its spray pattern to the Iwata micron cm-b, the micron takumi, sotar 20/20, and the gsi creos ps-771. Thanks for watching!

I'm just starting out in airbrushing. After much research and deliberation, I shelled out for a siphon feed Infinity. I had seen nothing but good reviews from it. I am using watercolors with the .4mm nozzle/needle. I am still getting a feel for it, I have definitely noticed inconsistent paint flow start points. I figured it was either me, or that's the way airbrushes work. Glad to see someone knowledgeable address this.

As others have pointed out already, DRED FX CUSTOM PAINT channel has posted a couple of videos regarding a teflon ring mod/retrofit to the Infinity's trigger mechanism that apparently fixes the trigger response issue. The mod corrects the slack in the trigger response and closes the gap between the Infinity and Micron in terms of trigger response. I'd love to see a video of you trying out the the mod and hearing your thoughts! You do such a good job at showcasing these airbrushes and this mod may be what the Infinity needed to showcase its full potential!

I watched that, and I'm very tempted to get one now instead of a Creos PS270 or Iwata HP-B. I really like the H&S design, especially with that floating nozzle. I'd love to know if anyone else has tried it to confirm. A vid here would be very valuable info, as it sounds like a game changer.

In all honesty its kind of ridiculous that a mod like this has to be made, especially for an airbrush at its given price point. I'm surprised H&S didn't catch onto this early on. I'm glad there is solution out there now, I may give H&S another go..

Good to have seen your video. Yesterday I picked up my 15 year old Evolutions again for painting some miniatures…and the trigger action was exactly as you described it. I could remember that hey felt the same 15 years ago for illustrations, and I remember that my Iwatas ( old hpb series) felt like god mode in comparison to the Evolutions… after having encountered that problem yesterday I thought about getting the infinity now since it is the most beautiful airbrush there is and I always had an eye on it.. but your video demonstrated to me, that I’d rather save my bucks and give my Iwatas a good clean up :)…

I bought the CR+ v2 a few months ago knowing the problem with the inconsistent paint delivery but thought it wouldn't be that much of a problem to me. I was wrong. I paint models so although I require both accuracy and consistency the latter is problably a slightly higher requirement and this just doesn't cut it. That's a huge shame as the quality, innovation, feel, looks, ease of cleaning and parts cost are above excellent (£30+ for Iwata nozzles - £15 for H&S, £20+ for Iwata needles - £10 for H&S), much better than Iwata which was the deal maker and why I opted for this rather than the equivalent. I feel the problem is with the trigger design, the curved part behind the trigger rises as you pull back which generates a lot of wasted upward movement before the essential backward movement required to pull the needle back and deliver the paint, H&S as far as I am aware is the only manufacturer to use this unique design in the high end airbrush market and suffer this problem. If the trigger was a direct pull design as used by all others then I feel this problem would be eliminated and the brush would dominate its price band. C'mon H&S, this is a beautiful, top quality tool built like a Swiss watch, I really, really want to set my heart on using this as my long term, go-to brush and be able to confidently recommend it but the consistency in paint delivery is a huge disappointment....

I wanted to give my feedback after watching a lot of these airbrush review videos and my experience with my new infinity CR plus. I only found an inconsistency with the trigger pull when I was dealing with a liquidtex white ink for a long period of time. I simply flushed the needle and everything was back to normal. I haven't found any issues with the trigger pull. Seems very consistent for the inks and thinned scale75 arcylic paints I've sprayed so far through the. 15mm needle/nozzle. The v2 needles seem to feel the same for dry tipping and paint drying on the needle as my Iwata neos and HP-CS. Other than than. This is an amazing airbrush that I really needed!

I've owned many different airbrushes over the years from Sparmax to Iwata and I absolutely love the H & S Infinity airbrush. I have 3 x of the version 2 H & S Infinity and it is a beautiful airbrush to use and the build and finish is stunning. As mentioned, the only gripe is the paint not coming out every time which is due to the paint drying on the tip. If you keep an eye on it and keep lightly wiping it the issue is solved. I've also polished the needles and they seem to perform slightly better. I will be looking for a .6 needle and nozzle as I have one airbrush for metallics only.

Thanks. I've been saying the same for years. The inconsistency of the H&S makes that quick lock useless. Been debating on picking up another brush for more consistency as I rarely go below 0.2 needle. Could you compare the needles to figure out why this occurs on the H&S? Is it a manufacturing issue with the needles? I wonder what two of the same H&S needles under a microscope look like. As you pull the trigger, the needle is pulled into the nozzle and the resulting gap determines how much paint comes out. Would really love someone to figure out the problem with their system and you're the only person on YT to ever mention this. I asked spraygunner and they say it shouldn't happen which we all know is BS.
@theartworkshop
@theartworkshop Жыл бұрын
There is nothing wrong with the needles. H&S makes them perfectly and very well polished. I had a video of it under the microscope but forgot to add it in! The needle is perfect though. My guess is that it has something to do with the nozzle design and head assembly. I can speculate all day but it's about fluid mechanics and engineering, a subject I'm unqualified to talk about. I spoke with an engineer who is close to me and he had some interesting ideas of what might be happening.

Great review. I love detail airbrushes and have all of them pictured but the H&S. I just can't bring myself to pay for a brush I know will just sit. For me the trigger response is what makes a detail brush, it can atomize perfect and make miles of beautiful lines but if I don't know exactly when that starts its all rather pointless to me. I bought this airbrush for scale modelling, especially preshading panel lines and mottling on WW II aircraft. I can't get it to work with Vallejo Model Air and Ammo Mig paints....it's the worst buy I've ever made with regards to modelling tools. The paints don't really go through the nozzle out of the box (which is how they are meant to be sprayed most of the time), when thinning the paints, I get spiderwebs galore. I've tried a lot of combinations when it comes to spraying distance (very limited when doing mottling, you have to be close, otherwise you get overspray), air pressure and paint viscosity. I didn't find a combination that works for me. It's fine when I put on the 0.4 mm nozzle and spray at around 20 psi, like the wings or fuselage, but as soon as I put on the 0.15 mm nozzle for pre shading and mottling, this airbrush doesn't work for me. It might be a great tool for artists, using specific airbrush paints (not modelling paints), but gosh I hate this airbrush for my modelling works. A cheap Fengda 0.25 mm worked better for me doing mottling, until it broke :)

The Evolution trigger (solid) seems to have a more circular arc that articulates with the needle housing. I switched them out and only use the Evolution trigger in the Infinity. It seems to me the Evolution trigger has a better response/feel to it. The Infinity trigger (holes) has a delay for releasing paint.

I wonder what would cause inconsistency on the pull-back. Maybe it's slipping in the trigger a bit sometimes? Maybe there's a way to tighten that up a bit.
@theartworkshop
@theartworkshop Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately that is not the problem. The trigger is well connected to the needle via the chuck. When you pull back on the trigger, the needle is perfectly in sync and moves along with it. The problem has something to do with the nozzle I think. Possibly pressure that builds up within the head and pushes some paint back a tiny amount which would affect the start of each trigger pull. I'm no engineer and know nothing of fluid mechanics so I'm just speculating.

I"m very disappointed with cr+ with inconsistency of the trigger. I bought this airbrush for detail painting and it is impossible to paint fine details There is a workaround on KZbin how to solve this problem - putting the extra ring for better trigger response, but hey i paid 300 euros to make it work.. Nonsense

A micron isn’t half as good as the harder steenbeck. The quality, feel and paint is just better. I own both and I have t used my micron in 2+ years. Truthfully I use my sotar moe then any airbrush.

This version 2.0 is actually not new. I think it has been on the market for several years now. I bought the same airbrush this spring and I got this needle and by then it was in airbrush shops here available for quite some time. Speaking about build quality, I think the first half of the airbrush from its nozzle to back is well engineered, but I didn’t like the fact that cover of the second half is from cheap plastic and while it works it looks and feels cheap. I believe that considering the price they should have made it all metal. I have cheaper airbrushes, which are all metal, this one is expensive and yet fells like some crapy 40 USD Fengda. 😢

That's correct. It was announced in late 2018 and released in 2019 I believe. It's new for me though as my last review of this airbrush was with the old needle design. I believe the rear handle is aluminum, making it very light. Def not plastic! I actually love the way it's made.

I have the Micron Sb, HP BH and HP-CH. The Infinity 0.15 is better than them by far. With the 0.20 needle the same as the HP. The atomisation is smoother and without any droplets. If I had bought the Infinity earlier, I wouldn't have bought Iwata. Important, with acrylics, high dilutions and retarder. If you work freehand without stencils, it handles like a pencil.

well said! It does have that pencil feel to it which I love. The atomization is incredible, I agree.

Beautiful looking airbrush but has only caused nightmares for me, clogging very very fast even with lacquer type paints and 0,4 mm nozzle and needle, i wonder if they're even tested like the Iwatas, a huge disappointment for me but i can understand i'm in the huge minority
@xample222

I would understand getting tip dry and clogging with the .15 since it's tiny. But if you are getting clogs with lacquer paint and a 0.4 needle the problem isn't the AB (unless something is broken), it's either, you are doing something wrong or the paint isn't thinned correctly.
@kromysol2189

@@xample222 Yes but i tried multiple ways even thining until water like consistency to see and it always clog or nothing came out, spend 30 minutes airbrushing and 1 hour cleaning to unclog it every time, tried advices on multiples forum nothing worked, even bought multiple needled and nozzle to see where the problem was so i just sold it and gave up
@xample222
@xample222 Жыл бұрын
@@kromysol2189 That's weird specially since lacquer shouldn't clog at all (on big needles at least) because the solvent/thinner in the fresh pain will reactivate the dry paint. So maybe you got unlucky and got a defective AB.

the problems with H&S is exactly the difference between German and Japanese engineering. Germain stuff are great IF you use it as THEY intended. Japanese engineer stuff as how YOU would use it. this 'problem' is not a problem to H&S, this is how they designed their airbrush to work, which is why rather than "fixing" the problem, they charge you for a couple of teflon washers instead of sending them to you for you. hard pass on H&S, I'll stick to my Procon

After watching this review No thank You. There will be NO Harder & Steenbeck of any type or model for me. I'll stick to the old IWATA Elipse HP - CS Work Horse. Even a Badger and especially the Badger Patriot 105 looks like a better choice and both of them are a lot cheaper in price too but put out just about the same great results without different fluctuating paint spraying starting points. This review I can give a thumbs up but to the Infinity I will have to give a thumbs down.
