The truth about defending Men with records of all Races especially the Black Race is the taking advantage that comes with this defense. If we defend our Men and ask them to be straight with us. That becomes the most difficult task at hand for them. The Police will see how we are being used and come after us for always getting them out of trouble. If Men know that they are always going to have Someone to get them out of trouble. The Men are more inclined to be nonchalant about being responsible. The same for this Administration today March 18, 2022. This Administration feels like they are supported Democrats and Republicans so they are comfortable going after People and illegally having us wait in a justice system they appointed. Therefore, they are the ones not moving us forward because they have appointed these Supreme Court Justices. We are far from stupid. The issue I have with defending Men is behind your back they will cross you like you never did anything but wrong to them. They will play both sides to discredit you if they get caught red handedly doing wrong. The Police is their twins. If you speak to the Police. They will behave as if you are working for them and telling on People. It is very difficult to trust any of them. Most of them have their own agendas. Most often that agenda is self absorbed. That is what the biggest problem is in America with helping People. These are the twins of our history that set good People back all the time. These People expect us to keep fighting for them while they keep disrespecting us like we are weak. I cannot respect these types. I am going to fight for Myself because I have self control. I know how to do right. I know how to mind my business and manage my own money without getting into unnecessary trouble. The troublemakers are transparent. They will not take my kindness for weakness or my life with their immature games. This dysfunctional and reckless game should be called. "Grow the hell up!" How many People have to keep dying for childish People. How about that.

Lies! No one was lynched for knowing how to read and write! They were lynched for being disgusting criminals often raping White women and children and black supremacist organizations would hire them great lawyers to get them off. Justice would not be served in the court of law so some individuals took justice into their own hands! Who can blame them? Why should a rapist or murderer be able to go free?

Bella's Light RIGHT! Sadly even as our white counterparts preach how everything is fair and level to this day, and racism is dead; the Supreme Court still has black people listed as cattle. Not even humans in 2015. I wonder why although we are told to let the past go, move on and forget about the past, it is just fine for them to pursue and carry out daily the core hatred they have toward us. NOT ALL, but the numbers increasingly dangerous.

I think there is one difference, even if it's a small one and that's awareness. Mainly because of cellphones and social media more people are becoming aware of how America is two different countries. Also the opioid crisis may have helped show more people that the "War on Drugs" has done jackshit. Unfortunately awareness has also increased among people who wish to perpetuate the system. The language has changed once again even if the meanings are the same. So while things have definitely changed, I honestly don't know if we're better off as a country than when this talk was given.

The racism is sytemic, police have been in their jobs long enough to know how to stick it to you real good. If they want to make your lives hell they can. Thank God for the ones who have morals, principles and integrity. To hell with the ones who dont!. Karma will get you all in the end. The reason so many blacks are in jail is an issue of power and economics. They know you dont have money to throw at a lawyer or to fight these cases. If we did, they wont be exhibiting the behaviors they do towards us. We all are getting an education here. God bless her, may he allow her to continue to use her gifts to speak truth to the powers that be and to this unjust society.

Prof Michelle Alexander, you are not only of one the best orators of our time, you are an outstanding advocate for social, economic and political justice. Beautiful inside out. Thank you for such a lecture. I watched everything and we promise to be ambassadors for change........A speech made in 2013 can still make headline news in America in 2020 because nothing seems to have changed over there.

I'm so glad I watched this and listened to the New Jim crow audio book. In the wake of the black lives matter movement in the UK as a white person I decided to educate my self on the plight of minority's. After learning more from the speakers book as well as other material I will never underestimate the disadvantages black people are faced with. I wish I had a company to hire and give an ex offender a chance, but i don't. Instead i will go forward being careful that I don't display any unconscious bias my self and will no longer believe racism in UK is all but gone. Its not, its real and I will never be a part of it. PS: Any book, or talk recommendations on this subject?

Now I can no longer claim ignorance. Now it's a conscious decision. Am I, now that the dust and sleep have been taken from my eyes, a racist or a person of integrity and moral courage?

You maybe both. But that's only if you have the courage to challenge your racism and do the neverending work of rejecting implicit bias (racist ideas) and promoting and espousing anti-racist ideas.

this is a really important lecture. the manner in which she lays out the facts of this argument is so clear that any person of good faith will be persuaded. i have seen this a long time coming, but it is tough convincing people bc they don't want to see their society in this light. regardless we have to make this right.

A great book that should be required reading for anyone who thinks freedom came in 1865, but hardly anyone reads history these days. That's a big problem if you want to know the details about where you came from and how you got to where you are now.

I applaud you on your research and effort to do, what may be perceive as the impossible by human standard, but as a child of God, I know you was given this to you while you was yet in the womb, because Almighty God had equipped you to do this work for him to help the helpless. Thank you for giving hope to the hopeless and insight to the unknowing. God bless you and family!! Love And Peace.
