The coolest thing about all the off-season additions is that when Irving is injured or needs to take a couple games off here and there, you still have solid offense and better defense on the floor whether you’re moving Thompson to the SG with Naji at SF, or using Grimes as a starter. No more losing streaks because they don’t have enough offense without Irving on the floor .

They added Klay Naji & Grimes. All amazing 3poimt shooters and defenders even though klay has slightly digressed but still great roster and one of the deepest bench ITL. Also spence, great ball handler and can create shots and clutch and was a huge part of that 2022 WCF run. Also a 7’5 defensive stopper. They were just a few pieces away from beating Boston and I think they’ll be able to this time with hopefully a HEALTHY Luka and Kyrie getting over the hump. Was DJJ up for DPOY? Did DJJ make first or second team all-nba defensive team? I’m not trying to understand anyone who has any excuses as to why DJJ didn’t receive any of the before mentioned awards, the truth is he didn’t win any of those awards that make him a household defensive name. Again not trying to debate why a guy who played as many games as DJJ did not receive any defensive nba awards. To debate why is tremendously utterly irrelevant and quite stupid. He either did or he didn’t and of course he didn’t receive any NBA awards. The truth is that nobody wants to discuss is that DJJ’s defensive rating was not anywhere close to being what it was until after the trades of Washington and Gafford. There’s a lot of false narratives being pushed to spike up the potential of one player in particular on the Mavs but the honest truth is that the Mavs were an awesome team defensively after the two trades mid season. Not trying to debate with anyone who thinks that the additions of Klay Naji Spencer & Grimes isn’t an upgrade over DJJ THJ and Green. Not going to take 11 points off my IQ just because some ignorant guy’s opinion is that DJJ was a high end defender. Not saying DJJ isn’t a decent player but I am saying that all DJJ is is decent and that’s it. Naji Marshall is a good defensive player but some idiot is going to say he isn’t just to keep the false narrative going. All they can do is lie about the Mavs and their depth. They can’t tell the truth that they look frightening so they have to lie big and create negative hypotheticals and have hopes of Dallas not being nearly as good as last season. I have never seen people go out their ways to lie and create negative scenarios just to create a false perception or point of view about the Mavs. Dallas beat the #1 seed in the western conference and lots of people refuse to admit that Dallas did that so they lie and say OKC is a better team even though they had home court advantage and the Mavs easily adjusted and eliminated them. Don’t debate or argue with people like that, all they’re going to do is not look at the end results of Dallas winning and that’s when they’re reduced to their hating lies.

Losing his cutting on offense is tough, but the cutting didn’t even show up during the finals. Spacing the floor is what was needed to allow for his cutting to the basket to be more effective. The defensive loss of his is what’s most important, that’s why it’s what is touched on.

I think its interesting how people make the Mavs some much greater team when they replaced Derrick Jones (their primary defender) with Klay Thompson (a dude that just shot 0-10 in an elimination game, and doesn't defend at a high level anymore). The amount of pressure on Derrick Lively Jr to be basically a top 5 defender in the NBA to somehow carry a team with almost no good defensive starters is incredible. They are lucky they hit on Lively cause otherwise they would be so much worse off. This is still an offensive first team but if Klay can hit open shots more often it might be worth it. Lets see how in shape Luka is to start the year

@@BossMkII I don't think its an obvious upgrade. Klay was really bad at long stretches. How is he going to play with Ky and Luka when teams are already targeting Luka. Now they can target Klay too. @@blablablaa14 Klay is worse than his prime of course but he’s not a bad defender, I’d say he’s only slightly worse than DJJ and based off of how much he’s been appearing at scrims he’s looking for his respect back after how he ended his run with the warriors. J Kidd is just able to get more out of his defenders with his scheme and hopefully that applies to the new guys on the roster. The funny part is they actually never got hot during the playoffs. They grinded games out with the lack of offensive consistency by beating teams with one of if not the best defense in the league (held every team below their avg throughout the playoffs with even the celtics only cracking 100 a couple times. Their centers disappeared at times, their 6th man was a literal no show dnp , backup 4 broke his shoulder, backup point never could find his shot coming off injury, all this and their rook player who was in the g-leugue was one of their most consistent guards of the bench on offense. Also while their number 1 player was battle through a rib bruise, and two literally bloody knees. AND YET THEY STILL DOMINATED EVERY SINGLE TITLE CONTENDER THEY FACED LOSING NO MORE THAN 2 GAMES IN ANY SERIES HEADED INTO THE FINALS. Yet somehow, you formulate that to be them being lucky, and then improving their roster across the board to be overrated when no one in the sports media is even talking about them? My, what a world we live in.
@micahcraig38982 ай бұрын
