I'm just setting up an old school (alva) deck and I was going to get them but went with a pair of Stage 4's just for the full old school vibe. I love the look of the Lurpiv's though. They remind me of old Motobilts a little bit. It's a shame they couldn't figure out a way to keep the manufacturing out of China. I'd prefer to support made anywhere else, but at least the quality is good. I'm somewhere where it's hard to get a good selection so it was only big brand options for me or the Lurpivs. Next set I may try them but I'm also tempted by a set of Trackers. Still made in the USA. Good review. Thanks!

What ive noticed is that they are a Indy T hanger truck. Exactly the same with different material. Indy is the most copied truck company.
@skate_oasis3 ай бұрын
I don't disagree! Indy nailed like 99% of the design years ago and all the other panies are pretty much coming up with their own spin on the 1% left over. I do really like the wheelbite stopper, and I love how the hangers look. Very retro futuristic. Thanks for watching and commenting! I'm super interested to hear your thoughts.

Got the hollow 140s for my 8.25” deck. Their sizing is a bit weird, with axel widths between common board sizes… but my local shop had hollow 140s or regular 145s, and I actually prefer my trucks slightly more narrow than my deck. And yeah, they feel amazing! Love that the standard bushings are 92a… on every other truck, I have to swap to 92a or 94a bushings before they feel right, but these really did feel great out of the box, with maybe one turn on tightening. They feel excellent for ollies, pop shuvs, kickflips, and 50-50s (basically my entire bag of tricks so far). They are surfy and turny in a great way. I still get some wheelbite, but I’ve definitely landed tricks off center, and they’ve prevented wheelbite where lower trucks wouldn’t have. I do wonder if any tall trucks (like indies) may work about the same on that front, but it doesn’t really matter. These feel great! I’m trying to learn to slappy grind, and that is the one area where I’m unsure of these. At least for my local slappy ledge thing, the front axel will scrape on the way up, which sounds and feels kind of terrible. I wasn’t experiencing this issue on some 8.5” aces. I assume a seasoned slappy grinder wouldn’t have much issue here, but I don’t know. I’m lucky to have a couple of setups, though, so I’ll just the aces for learning slappies.

Hey thanks for watching and commenting. Glad to hear you like them! I'm garbage at slappys so I can't comment on them, but I do find that they grind like butter.

just a fun fact. I feel kind of grateful and a slight sense of pride knowing that Lurpiv trucks are designed in Sweden, Where i grew up. Not the smallest country in Europe. but like some parts of Canada way up closer to the pole.
@skate_oasis19 күн бұрын
Yes dude! As a Canadian I've always felt a cultural attachement to Sweden lol. They are awesome trucks! Super simple but elegant geometry and really high-quality constuction. Thanks so much for your comments! Looking forward to your next one.

@@skate_oasis Perhaps you should come to sweden or at very least one of the majour citys. stockholm has many skate parks of all sizes both in the city and around the suburbs. I would suggest High walley skatepark as one of the bigger skateparks. or in Swedish Högdalen(High walley). But even if your a seasoned and tough canadian . out door skating is less than great when snow and ice is covering the ground and pools and ramps.

@skate_oasis they're here. They're rad. I threw them straight on with no adjustments. They are super carvy, but don't just fly to wheelbite. I use a 1/8" riser. I have them on a 9" Powell Flight popsicle (so, no wheel wells), and I'm rolling on brand new 54mm Bones X-Formula 99a wheels that came in the same box as the Lurpivs today. Huge thumbs up in the first couple hours.

i had a problem with the reverse kingpin on the grind king trucks. i think that design is to hard on the nylon in the nut and that allows them to work loose. i bet thats why they didnt go with it in these

I also had grind kings with reverse kingpins but that was like 24 years ago 😂 It definitely says something that they’ve been around for that long and they haven’t replaced the standard kingpin. Thanks for watching and commenting!

@skate_oasis3 ай бұрын
How wide is your deck? I’m riding the 160s on a 9.75” but I also have wide offset wheels. I used to add extra washers between the wheel and the truck to squeeze extra space out of them

@@skate_oasis That's good to know. I have a bunch of decks and swap things around a lot. It seems like Indy is the only brand with a dedicated size for something above 9.0. I am a huge fan of wheel wells, so I can always make things work. But it just seems like big boards are popular yet nobody is making big ass trucks to match.

Neither Lurpivs or stage 4’s are 57mm tall…they’re both 55mm. Same as a standard stage 11 Indy. Not sure where you got 57 from lol🤔 I don’t know a single street truck that tall. Tactics shows both are 55mm, as well as lurpivs site and videos on the stage 4 from nhs

@skate_oasis3 ай бұрын
Hey friend, thanks so much for watching and commenting! I partially agree with you. Ideally, all skateboard parts would be made closer to the countries they supply. However, we have to acknowledge the reality of the global economic and manufacturing infrastructure we’re dealing with. During my research, I discovered that the original plant in Sweden was an automotive parts manufacturer and was on the verge of going under, which is why they took on Lurpiv as a customer. It seems that their manufacturing quality was below industry standards as noted in the 2022 release. The factory in China they moved to specializes in producing skate trucks, and they have the technology and expertise to build some of the best trucks on Earth, like Indy and Ace. I’m not familiar with the working conditions at that factory or their parent company. While some parts of the world do have worse working conditions than others (and I can't say if that's the case here), I'm not trying to tackle that complex issue in a KZbin video, right? Additionally, I believe referring to China as 'Chinko' is disrespectful at best. China and her people have a rich culture and history, and it's important to see beyond what our media often portrays. Again, I truly appreciate your thoughts. Stay rad, friend!
