I picked up a kit over this past Black Friday sale..... (Hammer-Drill, impact, charger, 2ea 5amp batteries and a bag) This was $399 plus tax, but you also got to pick two more 18v tools at zero cost. I picked the Jigsaw and the Oscillating tool. - All of this was about $1k worth of tools for $400, so I was totally happy. I have already used everything, and they are great for DIY folks, but likely not spectacular for professional, all-day contractor type use. (They would work fine for the job, I am just not sure how long they would last under very heavy use) I was surprised at how little vibration was felt in both the jigsaw and the oscillating tool - very smooth for all the action taking place.

Tried this unit out. Base is not Metal to Metal. There is angular wobble and play in the base. Shaft of blade holder is half the size of the older unit (Older unit has the same drive shaft as the premium BL Models) Older model now has variable speed and is metal to metal, though not brushless. New one can deactivate the soft start, if you prefer. Locking full speed trigger on the new one is a nice feature. You can use it kind of like a barrel model as the locked trigger keeps it on. Very smooth and low vibration.

Nice vid.....I got the barrel grip version, DJV185Z body only, it came with the dust extraction nozzel. Not sure why the d handle doesn't.

Hey Tom. thanks for the video. Quick question. what about 90 degree cut accuracy? Is it accurate or angle is not really 90 degree? Thanks
@TomMagicWoodworking10 ай бұрын
Hi I have found it to be very good on Accuracy at 90° But of course, that's all relative to the blade you are using too. Hope this helps thanks for watching.

Hello, im looking to buy a new Makita jigsaw, what would you recommend djv181z or djv184z?
@quickfirefred34 Жыл бұрын
Hi, I have not used the djv181z, but it is very similar to the djv184z, which is a good bit of kit. But the slow start on that jigsaw is a little annoying. I still prefer the older dvj280z. I think it's a tool you need to pick up and decide which feels better to you. As they all perform well, just down to preference. Thanks for watching

is he better than the competition? DeWALT dcs334?

I prefer the makita to the dewalt, but if I'm honest, I still think the old version of the makita jigsaw is better. Thanks for watching

No I did not mention about batteries because you watch me take everything out of the box and the batteries are not part of it self explanatory there are none!

@@TomMagicWoodworking Honestly, others like Dewalt have tool-free base adjust, comes with extractor and less fiddly blade change imo. Can't help but feeling Makita is a bit stuck in the past. I own Makita tools, but no Dewalts.

My work mate has the DeWalt jigsaw trust me when I say this tool is is much better. When we are working next to each other he grabs the Makita.

@@TomMagicWoodworking I appreciate your response. You actually swayed me towards this saw which I have just ordered. I hope I won’t be disappointed 😄 When I also saw some negative comments about DeWalt accuracy, my decision was made.
