this and the AP201 by ASUS are my favorite recently released mATX cases by far, just imagine an all-black dual radiator custom loop with black soft tubing and quick disconnects 🤤

I just ordered the pop mini case in white for a non-gaming i5 12400 build without graphics card. It was between this case and the AP201, both similar price but in the end chose the pop mini because I like the clear glass panel and 3 ARGB fans that are included.
@gracefulhunter6479
@gracefulhunter6479 10 ай бұрын
Only downside of AP201 is the vertical airflow that doesn't go well with cpu air coolers. It forces you to get AIO which is a considerable budget investment that could go to the gpu instead. That also might not be a case for budget builds despite its price point...

I think it's a tiny bit suboptimal (ironic, as you will see) that the lower front fan doesn't quite reach down to below the graphics card. Because that is probably where it is needed most. Those are the kinds of details one may need to pay extra attention to with a cramped space (unless one just doesn't care, of course).

I've got the mid-sized version of this case and it is amazing. Thinking about doing a build in the mini version for my mom.

11:48 Probably not intended, but if one could somehow manage to install a small fan there, it could probably boost the graphics card cooling quite a bit. It might even be a method to pursue in the future, along with a special channel leading to the front, it could greatly improve small cases, eliminating any graphics card cooling concerns. Either that, or they stop putting the damn PSU right underneath the GPU.

I don't get the hate for optical drive bays nowadays. it's way better to have one and use it a couple of times a year than it is to get something on a disc and not have an optical drive to be able to use it. I buy special edition blu-rays and CDs that have more content on them than the equivalent streamable content so without a drive bay, I'd be missing out.
@DannysTechChannel
@DannysTechChannel Жыл бұрын
It’s outdated technology and is being phased out. Even some motherboard manufacturers are switching to USB thumb drives for their drivers. I have a portable optical drive for a just in case and haven’t used it. It’s all thumb drives and external hard drives in 2023. As far as the extra movie content, you don’t have a Blue-Ray player or a console?

agreed, the 5 1/4 bays is the reason I got the case. Plenty of other useful things to mount there as well even if you don't use an optical drive.

Nice review Danny, as I'm watching this in 2024. But I must say, even now I still use and Optical Drive (many DVD's) ! Nice that you did an Air Cooled variant, most reviewers do AIO's (which I personally hate). So it would have been nice if you had done a server variant w/ optical drive, 3.5", and 2.5" drive installed.

Just a note that the front panel is limited to 2x120mm fans or 1x140mm fan due to the smaller size. I'm looking for a possible matx case as an alternative if/when i need to transport my pc anywhere but the options seem to be limited. I like this case although I'd prefer if that compartment wasn't there at the bottom if it mean I could fit another 120mm fan in the front or 2x140mm fans. I'm also considering the Deepcool CH370 as an alternative although it's not as nearly as good for build quality. Ended up getting the Asus AP201, which is my favourite matx case. It's a completedly different form factor and I don't mind the power supply being located at the front.

I don't understand this attitude of removing possible expansion in desktop cases. This is like Apple laptops where they remove all kinds of old ports. One of the clear uses of 5.25" bay is for card readers which is certainly in wide use today. Another good use for this expansion is to add display. And I'm sure there are plenty more. But now that everyone is acting like Apple buyers, manufacturers have less reason to add such expansion feature.

If one turns on RGB (probably a bad idea), at least one should choose a white case. Otherwise the whole thing looks like a piece of garbage (like RGB tends to anyway, but especially mixed with black). However if one can make the light white, it could look relatively neat in black.

They're pretty close. There is a 3.5% difference in clock speed, which results in 3.5% performance difference. Besides that no meaningful overclocking and limited RAM overclocking. Otherwise they're the same, except for the non-k coming with a cooler in the box. Hope this helps.

Hey, Danny! Thanks so much for this video! It's great and has earned you a new subcriber! I'm putting together an upgrade list that's almost identical to what you've built here (I'm looking at the non-WiFi Mortar, 2-fan 3070 and smaller, 750W PSU). Is it essential to go to 1000W for this build?
@DannysTechChannel

No, not at all. 750w is plenty for a build like that. Thanks for joining the community!

Anyone know of any smallish matx cases with a handle? I travel a lot for work and I like to bring my pc with me and hook it up to my hotel room tv with an extra long hdmi cable. I got tired of lugging around my trusty Cooler Master Q300L, so I went looking for a more easily portable matx case. I ordered a Bitfenix Prodigy M, but the plastic handles were so incredibly uncomfortable that it was almost impressive. I returned it and wound up buying a Lian Li Tu150 instead, which meant I had to switch to an itx mb and a smaller psu. My new rig is much easier to travel with but I wish I hadn't needed to spend the extra money on compatibility. The closest thing I was able to find to a highly portable matx case was the SGPC K20, but I don't think they make it anymore, or maybe just not for the Western market or something. When I search for it now, all I find is the K29 and that doesn't have support for a discrete GPU.
