Mickey, just came back to this video to hear that sweet tone of your playing and that MSA into a Fender Twin with JBLs. The tone is so awesome that all the pickups sound great. I have 3 steels with 705s and that seems to be my tastes. But that 409 is interesting too. Thanks for sharing.

Mickey, I seriously enjoyed this comparison. All of your videos are awesome and so helpful, plus your mannerism is excellent. I have several pedal steels and I l9ve the tone options. Thanks again for your time and effort to expand the steel guitar knowledge.

I glad I came across this video - I didn't realize my "subscription bell" wasn't set for "all". I will have to look for the future video you were talking about. Thanks

Mickey, it's hard for me to tell which pickup sounds best because you're playing different stuff with each one. Also, I feel that the only way to get a good idea of what a pickup can do for a guitar is to optimize the amp settings for each pickup. JMHO, thanks for the comparison!

You have a great technique and to my ears, it didn’t make a difference which pup you used.

From what I could tell, I thought the XR-16 sounded fuller, all the way around, with good highs, not thin. I actually thought the 710 sounded thinner, not as much body/mid, as the XR-16. Yeah, I found it to be the other way around, as opposed to what Mickey said, but that’s why tone is SO subjective, and amazing how we can all hear things differently. But I’m very impressed with the way the XR-16 sounds, great note separation, warm and crisp on the low end, and still plenty of highs, that cuts through without being too harsh and too thin. But if you like an even brighter sound, the 710’s do sound great

I always wanted to learn to play. I was told there hard to play. Is this true? Awesome sounds you know what you are doing for sure. Thanks for sharing.

Thomas Tommy Like most things, if you like a challenge, you should do well. With the pedal steel, there is a lot going on. With a lot of dedicated practice and perseverance, you'll get there. My guitar teacher mentioned if it was easy, everyone would be doing it. The goal is to enjoy what you are doing.

What is the name of the song you started to play when you put in the alumitone?
@timboh.5337 жыл бұрын
That's the opening to Look At Us; Vince Gill's song with the late, great John Hughey on steel.
