When you started unscrewing the screws for the top panel. The plastic actually broke. The front of the 2ds unit with the black diagonal lines is an adhesive sticker. Under that is the screws

This needs to be removed. That is not how to remove the top screen!!! THIS WILL DAMAGE YOUR DEVICE! You need to remove the black ribbed plastic from the outer lid to expose the screws before removing the lid housing. This is really poor iFixit. Sort it out!!

DO NOT use this video for instructions if you want to disassemble LCD shell! You are supposed to unlid the black plastic cover first then unscrew blue bezel, not the other way around like featured in the video!

DONT USE A PICK TO TAKE THE UPPER LIP OFF as you can see they BROKE IT, the screws on the top have blue casing stuck to them. BE CAREFUL. the top is glued down, use a heat gun or heat pad to remove the top pad. dont use a pick and dont do it like they did. under the thin top lid are screws to remove it without destroying the system.

Thanks for this guys, your videos are trendy but maybe a bit too fast and glossed over. I was able to remove the back cover though. Those lithium batteries are not going to be fun to replace at all! I think this is the most nightmarish console I've come across from Nintendo recently - this is not going to be an easy one for those of us that repair for fun/living. Even getting at the lithium battery is stressful.

I had to do this because it was an emergency! Well at least for my 3ds. The charger spring was loose and it was nearly dead. Were still fixing it hope it works.

I want to know where the fuses if any? are located on 2ds xl. mine got dropped and ribbon cable and wifi cable that route in hinge sheared in half! Now it doesnt turn on, just blue light then faint pop. Thought it would still work as its just the top screen hardware thats damaged, i think

Please take this video down immediately. Pay attention at 1:55 as he incorrectly removes the top plastic cover. (Evidence = the broken teal coloured plastic around the screws at 1:57) I’m currently researching painting my own 2DS gold and silver, (GS-DS) but this video only shows you how to break a DS beyond any hope of repair. Thankfully, I’ve planned on taking all month to learn from the mistakes of others, however, not everyone will be as SMRT about such things. All I’m trying to say here is if watching this video led to me breaking my beloved DS, I’d find where this guy lives and make sure he stopped breathing. So to reiterate, take down this video. Xstradon Gaming Yes, just like every other 3DS or 2DS. It would be challenging to make a device that would be compatible to only 3DS-Games, since the cartridges are physically identical (except for the little knob on the top of 3DS-Games) and Nintendo always aims for physical incompatibility, which is easier for kids to understand than a software side solution.

for april 1st could you do a full tear down an reassembly of a modern pc? sounds like it would be tough as hell to complete and still have a functional pc afterwards. sure with some planning and careful choices it would be possible. maybe even have a false video release at the beginning of the day that has the tear down. rewinds the tear down for the reassembly part. then cuts to the working product. maybe even with a warranty void sticker still intact that you shredded while dissembling. with the real video released at 11:59pm april 1st by whatever the last timezone is to experience that.
