This is a great choice for the one watch guy that's active in their work. A bartender, police officer, paramedic, fireman, shipmate..... The tough mat surface, easy to grab bezel, and all business looks, just work. And you smack up a 575 dollar watch a bit, it's easier to call it character than on say that Sinn or Tudor. A watch you can wear like a tool. I like it.

Hi Bruce - thank you for covering this watch, and great job on the lighting in this video. I’m quite happy with the $575 price tag, and although I’d love a Selita at $750 or so, I recognize that there is a benefit to just dumping the NH35 for a new movement if there is an issue.

People bitching about the movement, but they'll buy a King Turtle all day for nearly the same price...Considering today's inflated prices, I don't think that's a bad price at all.

I caught a quick glimpse of it in a quick video passing by their table from a Wind-Up ... I think NY?... And I immediately was like "...wait, what's that?! I think that's new!..." I see 62mas/Pelagos style dial , Seiko Tuna hands, Sinn style colors & bezel, Sinn/Pelagos/Willard style crown, 62mas style case/lugs. The only thing that's maybe missing is if this were in titanium. Then you got a very decent and original alternative to a Tudor Pelagos... And Sinn and Seiko, as u mentioned. As it is, this looks pretty sweet already. Oh, the clasp extension... I believe Zelos had a similar design and they recently fixed that extension gap and break in the aesthetics in their new Blacktip GMT. The extension portion is still external. BUT, they redesigned the extension portion to look like a smoother less jarring section between the clasp and links. Basically filling in the sides of the extensions it looks fuller and a little more complete. Maybe Nodus will update this to sometime similar later along with additional colors.

Thanks for stopping by the booth! You were one of the very first to see this watch. Yes - we are working on re-tooling the NodeX. Creating a modular extension was not easy, so it comes with teething issues. The early adopters will understand the grand plan in a few years.

I love what Nodus is doing. Paying respect to Sinn, Tudor, Seiko, Omega while still maintaining a lot of originality. This watch is awesome. For those unpleased with the NH35 at this price, I’d say two things. This is a really good movement. It is mass produced and there are some dudes, but Nodus does test and regulate every single one. This is very important, and ads cost (for any manufacturer) but gives you the piece of mind. Second, many people are comparing these NH35/36 Nodus watches with others like Islanders. With all due respect to Marc, and I like the Islanders (which are indeed significantly cheaper) but if you’d hold a Nodus and an Islander in your hands, you’d not only understand the price difference, I bet anything you’d gladly pay it. They are just in a different league. So I don’t think it’s fair when people are comparing a Nodus with other run of the mill NH35 watches, it’s really apples to oranges. Get a Nodus and you’ll see.

First batch sold out in fifteen minutes... I guess people don't mind the NH35 movement 🤷. I ordered mine and am excited what nodus will do next. Maybe throw an nh34 movement with all that bezel real-estate it could look really interesting 🤔 👀 👍

Love the watch, but agree I have a hard time at this juncture in my collecting, buying watches with Seiko NH 35 or 36 movements. The 34A gets a pass at his point, though the Sellita’s seem the best value all the way around.

In my opinion, an NH35 is perfect in this case. This is made to be a tool watch, and like any tool, you don't pay more just for tiny things like 3 seconds of difference per day. There's also the fact it's basically the most serviceable movement, and the among the cheapest to replace in case of failure from extreme shock or water damage.
@noduswatches5980
@noduswatches5980 Жыл бұрын
Agreed. NH35 is a tool movement for a tool watch. One of our favorites as it consistently outperforms entry-level Swiss movements that we have tested.

The Deep continues to sell out every time there’s a release, so not sure how many people feel it’s overpriced. I personally feel the movement is appropriate for this style watch. I notice my watches with Seiko movements, while less refined than Miyota, don’t get magnetized as often. I magnetize my watches every once in awhile working on my 3d printer (I don’t mind, I have a demagnetizer) and the Seiko movements don’t seem to be as affected as often

Hi Bruce. I'm generally not a fan of small-diameter watches (my wrist measures +-22cm) but the fact that the bezel is oversized would suit me better. In agreement with you, a Miyota 9015 would have been a little more "premium" than this basic NH35. It's a cool watch, with a nice depth rating. Nodus is a brand that has interested me for some time now. Very informative video.👍

Great review Bruce. That bezel overhang will take a little getting used to, 40mm might have been more proportional IMO. Also agree that this seems a bit steep at $575, I feel $499 would have been a better price for this watch.

The large bezel is there to protect the crown, as the majority of inadvertent impacts are from the top, not the sides or bottom. Duly noted on the pricing. Won't change due to costs going up, but will consider pushing the movement up if we have a good alternative that passes our tests.
@WatchRob

@@noduswatches5980 Thanks for the reply! That's a new approach using the bezel as a crown guard, any risk of something catching the underside of the bezel and popping it off? Also understand cost increases, I guess I just have to get used to NH35 watches at price points above $500, I'm sure the quality of the rest of the watch certainly justifies the price.

This looks like a really good design. Yes, everyone can see certain elements of other watch brands (the cut out indices in the chapter ring are very similar to my Pelagos) but this watch does look to be it's own overall design. Good for Nodus! But now the old watch snob in me wants a better movement. And I can't really tell you why. The NH 35 movement is probably a workhorse that may even outlast a Rolex in terms of when it will need a service or replacement but for some reason I still want a Swiss movement. But even this may not detract me from a purchase as I see this a great value tool watch. Good luck to Nodus!

@@timmanion7459 We have tested just under a thousand entry level Swiss movements against Japanese movements and they just couldn't compare as far as durability and longevity. Reverser gears in 2824s are the main culprit for so many failures, and as a start up, the cost-benefit just didn't make sense to us. Maybe down the line we'll try it out again.

I totally get what y'all are doing there and champion your success. I fully understand why you're using the particular movements that you're using as well . And I also think that you're building a very clean product with extra attention to detail and regulation . Don't for a minute think that I'm ranking on your watches. If I came off that way , my apologies. I was just verbalizing what I've heard on many occasions when talking to others when your watches come up . I don't personally own a Nodus but have a few freinds that do . I've followed you guys since your first day and have been very impressed with everything that you've done . @@ericgrafton652 a miyota 9series movement is just better in all regard, if you don't want to go ETA or Sellita for a bit more. It can be much slimmer too. And not a lot in it in terms of price. Seiko NH movements are just super outdated in my opinion, but are fun workhorses for a watch around 300usd.

Yeah I think this watch is just about $100 overpriced. You can get a Baltic Aquascaphe with a miyota 9039 in it for this price OR you can get a zelos with the same nh35 movement for 400 bucks. I think $475 would be a solid price - especially as an incentive to early orderers. I guess the biggest argument here would be the better water resistance, but seeing as how the deepest dive ever recorded by a human is less than 200m, I think this is something that really doesn't need to be as much of a focus as it is in the dive watch world. I'll take the $400-$475 watch with 200m water resistance.

Too expensive for the spec. There is a brand call Ocean X, they have high quality dive watches at ~$200, with ceramics bezel(Nodus do not have), domed sapphire crystal(Nodus do not have) and 500 meters water resistance(same with Nodus). So, why should I spend $575 on a Nodus?
