What the whole Covid-19 episode is shown up in stark relief is the fact that the world is not prepared for an episode like this. Most of us do not have a direct experience with a disease that can take a lot of people out. It has also pointed up what is important to us as individuals. Worst in all this is the way a huge number of our fellows live such a tenuous existence. Stay safe Peter

Hey peter. The self isolating thing sucks , as does the panic buying but at the moment , in the western world that is a supply chain issue . I haven't checked in with your progress in some time .good to see thing's are going well . The boat looks very nice , so much hard work , time , money , energy , and love for that old rig good on you , I'm on my rig in Florida people are out and running the river to the Island's heavy . Beaches are closed but they tell us the sidewalks are safe and the jogging walking path' s are also safe and the virus apparently is only dangerous on the sand and after 10:00 in the evening ✌️As I said I'm on my rig and feel bad for others , very easy to be quarantined when you love the water and your boat. Good luck to all from Florida 🌴⚓️⛵️😎🍻

hate gas; maybe '' popular topic. The heat output from an Origo burner vs. a propane burner is not that different. In a recent test I did, it took 4:15 min (alcohol) vs. 3:35 min (propane) to heat a certain amount of water in a pot. In reality the difference is small. However, both solutions are expensive. Origo stoves cost a fortune and installing a propane system is not simple either. If you cook occasionally, I suggest you go for alcohol. The benefits are safety, there is always alcohol on board (either for projects or you can even use drinking alcohol if denatured runs out. Now if you run our of drinking alcohol on a boat, then you have much bigger problems , and when not in use there is no fuel in the system as the alcohol evaporates over a few days. If you cook frequently, then alcohol gets expensive and you are better off with propane. Whatever you do, please install a proper, gimballed, stove/burner inside the boat. If you want to use portable gas canisters, leave those for the barbeque on the rail. Just take my word for it, it is not worth arguing the point.
@TravelsWithGeordie4 жыл бұрын
Thank you, all good advice. I've used Origo stoves on previous boats. And as you say for occasional use they're great. These boats are homes, Complex, multi burner cooking, oven and broiler. I am wary of propane too but accept that with full system integration it is safe. We have new Force 10 marine stoves, integrated sensors to shut off, all new and certified installation. I'm not at all concerned.
@nicholaspappas97123 жыл бұрын
My only concern that propane sinks and will fine the lowest part of your boat. I know you have the tanks outside so hopefully the propane will disperse in the wind before it fine a way in to bilge. I know you know this but, I did not hear you talk about it. Also I know I’m a year late! 😀

I'm guessing that stuff you used is gripfill ... great stuff so long as you NEVER want to take it apart :D I would however be inclined to drill some holes in that box to encourage air flow ... if the gas leaks and there is no ventilation then it becomes a fuel-air bomb ... normally I'd suggest holes at the bottom to let the gas fall out, but that could turn the bilge into a fuel air bomb :o
