I met the Canadian Ukrainian volunteer Denys at my neighbourhood pub and he was a regular there. We've all been wondering where he's been since the war broke out and he went missing (one could assume) and now he shows up on the Vice video I'm watching. Mind Blown

You have to be careful when volunteering for foreign armed conflicts, alot of men who volunteered to help the Kurds in the middle east (yanno, the one with the women fighters which all of our medias praised) got arrested or at the least detained when they got back home. Most of the British volunteers were arrested and sentenced, if any of them tried to go through Turkey (shithole country) they were arrested and sentenced. I imagine if you make your intentions publicly known you'll get no-fly'd on airliners and harassed by your government and law enforcement, never mind the risk you'd place on yourself when you enter Ukraine especially if you don't take your sim card or something out right away.

Showing respect for an enemy's dead by sending them home Is honorable and such a sign of respect to the dead and the living (words fall short in the true value of the act). I wonder if the enemy is just dumping them... To hide evidence of what's going on. I believe the truth will be made known either way to those that lost loved ones for Russia or any nation led by its own selfish ambitions....the pain of loss through deceit and lies will only rot a citizens trust in it's country when discovered and it will spread quickly among it's people who will desire retribution.

Russians don't collect their dead, because 1) they don't want to spend resources on this and want to burden ukrainians. 2) If soldier is reported missing, the government doesn't need to pay 7 000 000 rubles of compensation. 3) Each real body and funeral gives a clue to how big casualties are. The state doesn't want people to know this. Because it paints a very bleak picture of russian success in Ukraine and shows that ukrainians are not at all inferior to russians as russian propaganda made people to believe for many years. And, frankly, russians as imperial nation always looked at all other nations of their empire as inferior, a "little brothers", although some of them are older and has own developed culture and comparable historical background. 4) Russian state loves to say that "русские своих не бросают" - russians don't leave behind, don't forget their own people, but in practice they almost always do. In critical situations and every day. They have no respect or concern of their fellow man and citizens. The concept of citizen and it's rights itself is pretty alien for them. Their rights begin to matter only when masses get very angry, which is a rare thing, russians have infinite patience and learned helplesness, because the state teached them to obey for a very long time.

I recall years ago in undergrad watching yall cover the war along the border while in one of my classes. I was a Poli Sci major and I told my peers this is good journalism this is something to keep an eye on. I also recall Russian professors visiting from Moscow they didn’t appreciate that we challenged them in the Q&A portion of the panel and were deeply offended our university did not intervene and informed them that is the western college experience to encourage to challenge everything and test it over and over. Needless to say the Russians never came back or at least those ones didn’t.

Please people in this world, be thankful for your life every morning you wake up. I remember as a child being very happy to live in independent Ukraine and being Ukrainian. I was happy that all the wars were over. There is not a single family here whose grandparents and relatives did not suffer from World War II and the Moscow regime decades ago so every time looking at the warm sun in the middle of the garden I was feeling the truest happiness as a child. It is just an incredible memory, where it was impossible to believe that the war would come again. There are hard years ahead for my country and for the world too. Please stay human, remember that life can change negatively at any time. Please support Ukraine, if not financially, then with sharing truthful information, don't let russian propaganda swallow the opinions of your entourage. Remember all of our brave military men and women fighting for the truth. Please fight for truth, freedom and kindness in every situation of your life and always stay safe. I commend the Ukrainian people for their willingness to try and their heart to care about trying to get the bodies back into Russia to their families. Given the experience, the war, I would not be doing this, that. It shows that they have a heart that goes beyond their call of duty. All the more reason, it'll make a person want to pummel the enemy for trying to hurt these people and mess their land. That said, it is nice that it shows the enemy an extension of humanity, of love, in that way. It also has an notion of 'leaving the dead bury the dead' yet it is a war zone and they have done so much, worked so tirelessly. They deserve to win. Highest of hopes.

The LNR/DNR have been conscripting HUGE proportions of their population -which are legally recognized as Ukrainian, with minimal training and minimal equipment from the Russians. as a former infantry marine who fought the entire iraq war i can whole heartedly say that its not the old weapons the russians are using thats causing them to loose, its the training. in the marine corps we had m249 saws aka light infantry machine guns that were being held together with creative ways. the door came off the hinges on the humvee i was in and i had to hold it up till we got back to base. another humvee had broken down on us in the middle of a fire fight so we toed it back, after we advanced and closed in on the enemy of course. the marine corps as explained to me by higher ranking officials has a small budget so we focus on training rather than up to date gear. some of our items were from vietnam.

VICE's coverage is misleading. They confuse Russian forces and DPR forces. The dead bodies in the beginning are the DPR forces, because they ill equipped. Plus, some other mistakes.

He has tons of videos that actually show the ethnic russians in E Ukraine talking about what the Ukrainian military and neo nazi militias have been doing to them since 2014. ⭐️⭐️⭐️Many of the oligarchs that back Putin have direct ties to ISR, as do many of the oligarchs in the US. ⭐️The invasion of Ukraine allows the oligarchs ON BOTH SIDES to profit from dramatically increased defense spending in Europe, with billions in taxpayer dollars being diverted to defense companies in the US/EU and Russia. ⭐️When the conflict is over, they will buy more assets in Russia/ Ukraine that have depreciated in value (real estate, natural resources, etc). ⭐️⭐️The oligarchs always profit from conflicts, since they own large stakes in all of the major defense contractor companies.

I like that you show the things as they are. People have to see the bodies. Like you did in the intro. The amount of Death, Sickness and Stress of War. Dont edit those things out. Most documentaries try to make it "children friendly" so that EVERYONE can watch it? But if you dont see Death, you cant really imagine it. I mean here you just FEEL it. Its gruesome and has to end. Edit: I hope VICE gets back on Track maing those amazing documenatries. I hoped it would be a bit longer, but yeah kudos to Mr Solomon. And the pure amount of CHADNESS of the ukrainian people is unbelievable. The foreign soldiers too. I respect them so much, its nearly idealistic. Slava ukraini and i hope the russian people wake up and end putins regime. Greetings from Germany. I hope my country racks up more support and doesnt cave in under russian pressure,

You speak righteously. And it is an "idealistic war," with true Evil on one side, and innocence [relatively] on the other. Politicians in both Germany and the US are slow as hell; kick them in the ass please. Ukriane needed SAM's months ago, and heavy tanks and artillery -- much more.

Westerners and NATO, the inory of accusing Russia. While stepping on the Iraqi's corpse. UN unauthorised invasion by America and NATO puppets months after when oil companies in Iraq and the government wanted to sell oils not by USD, only with Euro. Man, on 1st day they killed 66,081 innocent civilians that includes children and women. According to their own culture, the Iraqi citizen was literally living in peace just like Saudi. But, when Iraq government stopped using 'petrodollar' you what happened. They brought freedom and democracy to that country with destroyed civilian infrastructure. Intially, 66,081 innocent civilians. By the way, the 'weapon of mass destruction' no even found which was then main (fake) reason to invade Iraq. Similarly Gaddafi, stopped using Petrodollar got killed by NATO. By, same dictatorship and socialist ideas are prevail in Saudi,UAE. why the West is not attacking Saudi? As long as you're with America and you use the petrodollar currency you're okay to do war crimes. Hypocrites westerners lol.

It all breaks my heart, so many brave relentless people respectfully gathering the bodies of invaders hell bent on taking the Ukraine, more defending against the living that still come, the man that gave up university to help fight, others unarming bombs that did not do the job but still could, the aged lady refusing to leave her home surrounded by nature and what's still good for her soul hoping for the day it's all over. It's both heartbreaking and beautiful to see the strength of these people in peril. Russia should give up because the Ukrainian people never will, and I respect them all. Thank you Ben Solomon for joining them to share their stories to show the world. I'm so glad you made it out unscathed. As a history lover and avid reader I would at times close my eyes an imagine what it would be like during times of war, etc. Today it's very scary to think we could be on the brink of a 3rd world war in the works. My son is a US Marine too ready and willing to stand up to the evils that threaten our world, so it's a fear I pray we never have to face. My prayers are with Ukraine, those there defending, families that had to leave, separated by war with no home anymore, and the mercenary defenders that volunteer to defend, and you.

For their schools and infrastructure to cease function and when we leave terror groups fill the power vacuum. All at our tax payer expense thanks for nothing.
