This is perfect timing. I’ve been wanting to add two more temp/humidity sensors for the bathrooms with showers for some automations. These look to be spot on for the job and I can tell that you’ve found these products to be well suited for you over the years.

Yes, I’ve been using them for a few years now, and even though you won’t get the kind of battery life found with the Aqara sensors, for example, the large display (and in my opinion lovely design) makes it worthwhile.

Any idea how troublesome it will be to get these in the States? Amazon needs like 6 weeks which, for Amazon to Los Angeles is astronomically long.

I checked the listing last week and it was previously showing as 2-3 months, so I suspect the time will change again soon. Some companies show as ‘unavailable’ until the last minute, whilst others do this long lead time that shortens rapidly, so I’m hoping it’ll be coming in the next week or so.

short battery life based on my experience, only 30% left after 2.5 months. I suspected this when I received the unit with two batteries...

3.5 month battery life

Interesting - and a competitor to this sensor is the Shelly Plus H&T. However what I do miss on the sensor is an interface where it's possible to set target temp and/or target humidity on the device, possibly also two levels where you have one level for living comfort and one level for freeze protection, which would be useful for weekend cabins and similar places.

I wonder why you say that Thread is overkill for temperature sensors, it is literally made for devices like that
@homekitnews

Thread is faster, but it’s really put to best use with devices that require that fast response time, like a motion or contact sensor. If the temperature drops it’s hardly ever going to be so sudden that it would require sub-second response times.

Is this more reliable compared to the older Homekit version? The older version updates very infrequently :/

Hard to say, but I find it to be more reliable in its connection due to the Thread connection, although some have expressed issues with the new model.

My T model is draining battery like crazy. Already at 50% after 1 week.

It sounds faulty. I’m not seeing any issues with battery drain.

You say that the data is limited to 30 days in the app. Is it possible to export the data to an excel file ?
@homekitnews
@homekitnews Жыл бұрын
Hi, yes you can export the data from the QingPing app. You have to go into the settings for the device, then export it to an email address of your choosing. You’ll then get an email with a link to download and .xlsx file from their server. The link is active for seven days.

can I use this to automate a smart plug window AC unit?
@homekitnews
@homekitnews Жыл бұрын
Yes you can. Just be aware that changes are not instant like you would get from a motion sensor, and if the changes are less than 1 degree it may not register.
