Would love to see an updated M1 2.0 all-in-one rack with 4-way, numbered 1" holes on all the uprights (so rear ones as well) and smaller 2" on-center hole spacing! Keep the more standard 2" x 2" (50mm x 50mm) tube sizing too! Don't use 70mm x 50mm. Keep the larger ROM of the smith machine and hook pegs on the outside so it can get low to the ground and has more elbow room inside for pressing. Add a proper foot plate for low rows that's adjustable forward/back to get more distance from the pulley and easily removable. Add a leg press plate to the smith bar. Include leg holders for doing pulldowns. Make the pulley ratio switchable 2:1 and 1:1 with dual pulleys on each side. Increase the max and minimum pulley height for more ROM in pulldowns and low cable exercises. Lastly, add a weight stack option with dual 200lb+ stacks that include built-in plate horns on top of the stack to easily load heavier (see the MAXUM Fitness SX2). Price the weight stack version ideally only $500 to $1K max more but hopefully closer to the $500 (keep plate-loaded option around the same price as now). That would KILL on the market I think right now.

Thank you for your unbiased review!! Really appreciate the level of detail you always bring to your videos. Honestly so hard to tell with the marketing of budget pieces what's actually worthwhile!! The noise and wobble where you can't even do single leg are deal-breakers for me. Honestly surprised this is a gen 3 and has these problems. Would be curious to see a review of the RitKeep Thunderbolt A10 Leg Press Hack Squat Combo. It seems to have the biggest foot plate of all the budget options I've seen and calls out the quite nylon rollers in their product photos! Also has more plate storage posts and seemingly an easier to adjust bottom foot plate! Though one thing I do wonder is why does nobody make a vertical hack squat + leg press combo so you don't have to load as many plates to reach the desired resistance. The mechanics should be almost exactly the same just rotating everything from 45° to 90°! I guess it's kind-of like a smith machine but with the back rest support and shoulder padding. I feel like the footprint may be able to shrink! At least on the ground, it would probably be taller vertically.
@HomeGymHacksandReviews4 күн бұрын
@@killerkhatiby009 I really appreciate that. Thank you. I just looked at the RitKeep for the first time; there are some decent features on that machine. I am personally not a fan of vertical leg presses. When I have tried them in the past, they have always aggravated my lower back, but you’re right, the greater the angle, the less weight required.
@killerkhatiby0094 күн бұрын
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews Yea the RitKeep definitely seems like an interesting option! Just wish it had linear bearings. And I agree most vertical leg presses are not designed well and kind-of suck. Have you tried with a smith machine and bench? I've found if you use a smith machine with an adjustable bench you can incline the back and seat pad slightly and lay backwards on the bench (head towards the seat so it holds you in place) which ends up angling the torso away from the bar/plate allowing more ROM with less back rounding and the vertical leg press becomes significantly better! You can also slide the bench forward or backwards in the smith to mimic higher/lower foot placement on a leg press plate if you're just using the bar. It basically becomes one of the most adjustable leg press options you could have since most benches have more settings than any leg press back rest and you have infinite positions forward/backwards to place the bench. It's just interesting that if you're able to do regular leg press at 45° I would think that taking the same comfortable setup for you and rotating everything (including the back rest and such) to 90° shouldn't really change much biomechanically, I would think you'd basically end up in the same positions! Would be really interesting if a company made a combo vertical hack squat and leg press like that. Especially if it's setup in a way to still allow declining the back rest and maybe having shoulder pads there as well to hold you in place so you can really angle your torso away from the sled to maximize ROM and minimize hip flexion which is what often leads to back rounding and discomfort when ankle mobility is limited and you can't drive the knees forward more.
@HomeGymHacksandReviews3 күн бұрын
@ when I had the IM 2000 and Leg Press footplate, I tried vertical leg presses with various bench positions; unfortunately, nothing worked for me. I have to be very careful with 45 degree leg presses. If I don’t have the squat wedge on the platform and the ab mat behind me, I will tweak my lower back. I will mention, my lower back is a unique case: I can’t even do seated cable rows.

If you want to check out the exact model of wedge and the Velcro I use, they are linked in my Amazon Affiliate Store (description of this video). Although, as you mentioned, the footplate on this model is quite a bit bigger so my wedge won’t fit on your model as well. Sorry to hear you got hurt on a Cybex hack. I use one of the newer models (round tubing) at my commercial gym and I love it. I wear squat shoes and I can get a very deep range of motion (I’m 5’9”) and I can just barely bottom it out safely if I had to. That said, I always ask for a spot just in case because I don’t want to take the risk of getting pinned. That’s why I’m quite skeptical of most home gym, especially budget, leg machines. Anything that I’d use quite a lot of weight and could crush me (hacks, pendulum, even leg press) is not something I want to take the risk with. I went with the GMWD belt squat because it was so small, only $700, and I could always rack it or safely bottom it out. I found it worth it (although one benefit of the BoS model is that you can pull against the safety for a bit extra stability and it may require less plates).

@HomeGymHacksandReviews it's clearly 14 gauge, you are right. I have a GMWD leg rollers which is 14 gauge and it is featherweight compared to other things in my gym that I know to be 11 and 12 gauge. That's fine for something like a leg rollers which won't support much weight and, even if it fails, won't cause significant injury. But for exercises where the machine will get loaded with 300, 400, 700 pounds? That is extremely dangerous and no one should ever buy a product like that.
