The AI seems very useful for explaining code, great for beginners. I have tested it on some of my own code (that I know what it does already) and it was pretty much spot on. However, for generating code, its hit or miss.

I actually think AI for Roblox studio is an amazing idea. It being able to explain what certain bits of code does can really help beginners get into coding. My only problem is if beginners rely on it too much, like creating Roblox games purely off AI and profiting on it. (Note that I have not watched the video yet)
@Pyrolite

I could see how AI could be used to produce more simple games but in terms of more "complex" projects, you'd definitely need a bit more knowledge on how the Roblox engine works. Also maintenance is an issue as well especially since Roblox deprecates built in functions from time to time, debugging code without knowledge of how it works let alone code that's not written by you is going to be difficult without knowing programming

I'm learning Lua in Roblox Studio, with the programming fundamentals found in the Roblox API, at times when I don't understand how some function or logic works, I ask the AI to explain it to me and teach me how to use it, I also ask it to show other ways to use it that same function, and then I create a field of ideas of how I could use that specific function This is helping me a lot (obviously there is chatgpt that does the same thing, but it seems that this Roblox AI is more accurate when portraying the LUA language within Roblox Studio

Seems cool, but most likely if you start asking it for more complicated prompts, like "Insert a script and localscript into the handle of this tool which makes it so that when the player clicks, it shoots a slowly moving red laser beam towards where they clicked which damages players" it completely breaks down and can't figure out what you want it to do whatsoever.

the material generator is good for quickly throwing textures on stuff, and the script assistant can be helpful for optimizing scripts and finding improved ways to do things, along with fixing old broken scripts and teaching new developers new methods, but it might also replace developers, only requiring someone with basic knowledge to make everything that was generated work together it'll help and hurt devs at the same time

It won't eliminate the need to hire a scripter. This AI is created just like any other AI today. It uses pre-existing data and generates a response. It was cool to watch you learn about the AI hands on. A common misconception about AI and LLMs in particular, is that it knows things. It doesn’t know anything. Keep the prompts simple. Write multiple prompts if you need. I made it recreate the FastCast module with 6 sentences. The FastCast module is an open source ray marching, physics simulated, projectile system.

When I asked the AI to make an npc follow me, it didn't work. I think the ai has problems with script that involves npcs.

Its using wait instead of task.wait, I wouldnt let the thing even close to my code
@bbnmm8720
@bbnmm8720 Жыл бұрын
@freerobux49 wait is deprecated and the lowest time it can yield is 1/30 or 30 times per second and task.wait 60, so double speed and also wait can cause delays because bad performance, it also returns os.time() ( the time it finished yield ) but you can just use os.time when you finished yielding

Task.wait() is faster and more efficient than wait()

@freerobux49 I have difficulty understanding task.wait(), it seems very complex, I asked BotAI how this function worked, the only thing I understood is: It is an Asynchronous function, when it arrives at its line, it has to wait a few seconds before continuing, however the script still continues reading the rest of the code, and when the seconds are up, it returns to task.wait() and continues to the bottom line From what I understand, it can help in situations where several things need to happen at the same time, and helps avoid useless crashes when these things need to happen, thus making them happen simultaneously without crashing

honestly, I didn't understand anything, I prefer to believe that task.wait() is a wait() but premium lol@freerobux49

honestly, the inbuilt ai into studio is complete garbage, it struggles with basic formulas, thinks you're talking about something outside of roblox and then refuses to help, once you do playtest it just clears memory, and other bad stuff like dat edit: this just makes the average developer worse by letting them be lazier
