The 41 Mag has been my favorite cartridge for 30+ years. I'm definitely excited to see this new model on the 357 frame, and a flat-top no less!

That is gonna be a slick field gun. Loads put up in .41 Special brass will probably allow the longer bullets if you are determined to use them. That cartridge sort of makes me think of .300 Savage inasmuch that both have all the sauce you need for most normal applications in the lower 48 for sure.

I always had an interest in the Ruger .41 Magnum when I graduated from High School (1969) my folks gave me a Ruger Blackhawk .357 Magnum, I still have it. (Along with two Colt SAA in .45 Colt).I was a Reserve Police Officer and carried my .41 S&W Model 58. I have had several since then in .41 Magnum including the Model 57 and got another Model 58 having traded LONG AGO the one I carried. Did use a .41 off duty as a Deputy Sheriff as well. Always liked the cartridge along with the .44 Magnum and .45 Colt plus a fan of the .44 Special as well in cartridges larger than .357 Magnum.

Well...my Accurate Molds .41-250F handloads will fit, but my NOE H&G #258 Keith's won't fit. I am well pleased to see Ruger and Lipseys showing .41 Magnum some attention like it deserves. I may end up adding one of these to my stable of two new 2024 Blackhawks (4-5/8" and 6.5") and no dash 4" Model 57.

As someone who only recently discovered the joy of 41 magnum a couple of years back I am very much looking forward to acquiring one of these. Handloading has certainly opened up all sorts of opportunities for revolver aficionados in this caliber. Thank you, Ruger!

Great review as always Brian! Really appreciated the comparison against the larger frame 5.5" Bisley that i own in 41Mag as well. I dont own any of these smaller frame guns so its uncharted territory for me. Look forward to some handloading ideas once you've spent some time with it. Glad Lipseys got you an advance copy for your early impressions! Jason is a great guy!

Great info, thank you, big fan of your articles here in France :-) mine is the regular Blackhawk in .41 Mag, and I really hope they make the regular medium grip frame. I never warmed up to the Bisley type for some reason, though I never shot one..

Great video! I read something once in a book not completely related to guns that leads me to suspect that early factory ammo was pretty hot, and may have had an effect on LE embracing the cartridge. I like that manufacturers have been giving the rear sight bases a rounded front. I think it's a big improvement.

Dang it, .41 magnum (along with.45 Colt) is my favorite handgun cartridge, but all my useful moulds need a longer length than that. My LBT 250 grain WFN’s seat slightly longer than 1.650; I suppose I could trim my brass back an extra.005.”
@PearceBrothersGearGuide
@PearceBrothersGearGuide 18 күн бұрын
It will actually accept cartridges with an overall length of 1.660 inch, but I recommend the extra .010 inch for cartridges that tend to grow in length when subjected to recoil. Thanks for the comment and for taking the time to watch our channel.

@ You’re welcome, it’s greatly appreciated. My 250 grains WFN’s are seating at 1.652; I’m sure I can squeeze them down .002.” This is a gun I’ve been hoping Ruger would build for a while.

Glad to see the .41 making a comeback. And, I’ve enjoyed the company of a couple of Blackhawks (.357 and .45 convertible) One thought I’d like to put out there. I have large hands. It would be great if Ruger would offer a version with an 1860 style grip frame.

This Ruger should be absolutely perfect for those of us who load and enjoy .41 Special loads . It also seems like it'll be a good way to load our Keith bullets all the way out using special brass . I have the full sized frame just like this , so if I want to shoot full house magnums with one sight setting and lighter specials with another , instead of relying on Kentucky windage or changing my sight settings , I could just switch bislys . My .41 magnum bisly is the 5 1/2 inch , but I hope they also offer this in the shorter 4 5/8ths length version like my bisly .44 specials as I like the balance better . One thing bothers me . I have a bunch of Ruger single actions , all 3 screws except for my bislys . The ONLY ones ive ever had any problems with are both Ruger 5 1/2 inch stainless bisly distributor models . My .45 convertible bisly wouldn't hold cock on the hammer and my .41 magnum model has the gripframe drilled way off center to the mainframe making it shy on one side and proud on the other . All my other bislys appear to have both frames finished together and you can't even feel the connection point with your fingernail , but this one is way off . I'd be afraid to simply order one of these new ones because I'd be afraid of anything I couldn't personally examine before buying . You know what they say about once burned , well I've been twice burned and I don't like it ! I would like to have one of these though , if I could make sure I got one that was put together the way it should be .

I've long felt that the .41 mag. is a better all-around caliber that either the .357, or 44 magnums. Especially in my area. I'm a DA revolver man so the 41 Blackhawk probably won't happen for me, but I'd sure be interested in a true mid-sized revolver for calibers like the .41.

Dear Brian, I’m not willing you what to do, but I did want to share my own experience. After 5 decades of shooting, loading, casting & lubing, shooting, and then cleaning leaded bores, etc. (and more recently heavily fouled rimfire suppressors), a routine blood check revealed highly elevated lead levels. Well, duh! Hope you’re monitoring your lead levels too.

Too bad the 265 grain WFN load cannot fit in the cylinder of this Lipsey model. But the 41 magnum on the 44 magnum Bisley large frame can use the 265 grain 41 magnum load.

You guys would probably know. Can .41 Magnum be "reinvented" commercially, using just the 10mm "bullets" in revolver "cases"? I know a bunch of people are going to ask why I'm curious about that. Right now, I'm just asking if it's feasible using the 10mm "bullets" currently produced for autos. I also realize there would also be a need to make revolver specific bullets.
