I've had numerous T/C products over the years. The Contender was always a favorite in 357 Rem. Max. with the Super 14 barrel and their proprietary 2.5X scope and mount. T/C used to have a custom shop at Fox Ridge Outfitters in NH, where you could get all sorts of neat stuff for your T/C guns.

Good video. I bought my first Contender many years ago. It came with 3 octagon barrels, 221 Fireball. 44 Magnum Hot Shot with the removeable choke, and 30-30 that was Mag-Na-Ported. My wife liked the fact that she could buy just a barrel for my birthday and that was like getting a new gun.

I’m excited for the future of TC, living in the same city as Bullberry barrel works, and becoming good friends with Fred Smith, I have quite the collection of TC barrels. I love them all, I think my favorites are the 6-TCU and the 7-30 Waters.

Never used a TC product, but I have used single shot shotguns and rifles from H&R, which is a similar concept until that company stopped production. Freedom Group sure screwed up a host of firearms manufacturers. That's what happens when investment companies who know nothing about manufacturing or firearms, own and manage firearms manufacturers.

I’ve hunted with fellows who had T/C and actually have shot them for years but never owned one !! 2008 that changed as I got my first Contender and barrels followed ! I found myself liking it so well that I hunted deer using it ! So now with 5 deer and one black bear taken happy with the results ! I started with the 30 Herrett barrel first then the .44 mag barrel came ! I found the 6mm TCU cartridge to be the most interesting to work with ! Not only will it shoot 1/4” groups @100 yards it will shoot 2”7/8” groups @300 ! The gun itself is interesting and a 14” barrel mounted one needs a rest as it’s not a off hand platform so the Bog Pod fixed that issue!

Im looking forward to when T/C is available again. They had a wide variety of bbl’s, shotgun, black powder, rifle, or you their pistol offerings. Greg Ritz also has a TC channel I have been following. Kinda hoping the re-introduce their famous traditional muzzle loader kits, as well. My younger daughter, 29, likes my Encore for the same reasons, being ambi, she too is a lefty, called dibs on it when I pass on, lol. Have got a few different bbls for it. Thanks for the video, wishing you all a Merry Christmas!!

I need a new .50 cal TC Hawken barrel. I bought that rifle in like new but pre owned condition. It never shot like it should. 6" at 100 was about as good as it got with Hornady Great Plains slugs.Round ball wasn't much different. Had tight spots in the barrel where the dovetails had been cut for the stirrup and rear sights.
@davidsignor79314 сағат бұрын
My Hawken always shot round balls better than conical bullets so I just stick to round balls. To my knowledge they don't have enough twist to stabilize the conical shaped bullets. At 75yrds I can hold a 1.5 inch pattern with 75 grains of 3f and a round ball. If I go to conical I am lucky to hold a 8 inch pattern

A 6.5 grindel would be a lot of fun in a light little rifle like that.

Unfortunately, most entry level, break open, single shot guns (shotguns & rifles) have become scarce and very expensive.

I hope this new generation of TC's fixes the ergonomics of the G2 Contender and the Encore... redesigning the trigger would mostly do it.
@FrankBurch-vk7mi20 сағат бұрын
@krisswegemer1163 the layered up g2 and encore were abominations,the original contender was fast easy and safe to adjust or it did not allow cocking of hammer.. the hunters trigger as designed and first used was the best..far better than remington winchester and every last smith and wasted ever sold..will never buy colt or smith again..wasted money

Don't be stupid people, these thompson center guns are such a waste of money, just buy yourselves a dedicated hunting rifle in the caliber you need. Who the hell is really going to carry an extra 10-15 pounds in barrels and scopes? Also, some states have restrictions and depending on the Ranger, you may get off easy if you are caught carrying a different caliber barrel than permitted or you may have to deal with the consequences. These are good for the good for the guy that just has to be the center of attention all the time, "hey, look at my rifle". We hunt, we work...we don't waste time sitting around broke back mounting over how your rifle can swap barrels and chit. Speaking of .454 Casull, I will take my fully loaded lever action over this crap. If I'm doing single shot and carrying extra crap...I'm going with a 12 gauge and caliber conversion adapters.
@Elguapo59Күн бұрын
What did TC do to you? Lol and who carries multiple barrels hiking around? Haha, you would just pick a caliber for the day or hunt 😂 nobody is carrying multiple barrels out on a hunt 🤣

That comment came from the pits of know nothing about a contender or the entire concept at all....and just possibly a 14 year old at best....What state calls their fish and game officers "Rangers"? I've heard of Park Rangers and Forest Rangers forever, but they aren't wildlife code enforcement officers. They have a different job.
