There used to be a Stevenson that guided in the Copper River area. Can't recall for sure but Ed might have been the given name. Wonder if that is him.

I hope they bring back their muzzleloaders; I would like to have one converted to smokeless powder as I should have done a few years ago.

A 6.5 grindel would be a lot of fun in a light little rifle like that.

I've had numerous T/C products over the years. The Contender was always a favorite in 357 Rem. Max. with the Super 14 barrel and their proprietary 2.5X scope and mount. T/C used to have a custom shop at Fox Ridge Outfitters in NH, where you could get all sorts of neat stuff for your T/C guns.

Being from Louisiana originally, squirrel hunting is a really popular sport. When I was 11 years old in 1976 ,my Grandpa bought me an H&R 410 . Even though I have many firearms now, that was the most impressionable gift I’ve ever received. We didn’t have very much money and that shotgun was a considerable expense then. Every Christmas my Dad would have a Cochon de Lait ,which is a pig roast. I have wonderful memories of ALL the Christmas’s of yesteryear. Merry Christmas to all you and your families. Thank you for your videos.

Thanks for the video. Came to similar conclusions in that the old Winchester 70, Mauser 98, Ruger MKII and Hawkeyes just work in awful conditions. Have the same Marlin 1895's and some 1886 and model 71 348winchesters and Ruger GSR scout. Definately an open style trigger design fan and dont like box triggers for huntjng use.

I purchased a Ruger GP100 and a Colt Python earlier this year (2024). Both revolvers are very good but after shooting a few hundred rounds through each I prefer the GP100. I watched a variety of YouTuve videos before I purchased both revolvers and just now saw the Pierce Bothers video. I like their style, no tactical clothing, a prairie shooting range and a down home approach to revolvers. I immediately subscribed to the Chanel and hope to learn more from their family in future videos.

I’ve hunted with fellows who had T/C and actually have shot them for years but never owned one !! 2008 that changed as I got my first Contender and barrels followed ! I found myself liking it so well that I hunted deer using it ! So now with 5 deer and one black bear taken happy with the results ! I started with the 30 Herrett barrel first then the .44 mag barrel came ! I found the 6mm TCU cartridge to be the most interesting to work with ! Not only will it shoot 1/4” groups @100 yards it will shoot 2”7/8” groups @300 ! The gun itself is interesting and a 14” barrel mounted one needs a rest as it’s not a off hand platform so the Bog Pod fixed that issue!

I need a new .50 cal TC Hawken barrel. I bought that rifle in like new but pre owned condition. It never shot like it should. 6" at 100 was about as good as it got with Hornady Great Plains slugs.Round ball wasn't much different. Had tight spots in the barrel where the dovetails had been cut for the stirrup and rear sights.
@davidsignor7931
@davidsignor7931 4 сағат бұрын
My Hawken always shot round balls better than conical bullets so I just stick to round balls. To my knowledge they don't have enough twist to stabilize the conical shaped bullets. At 75yrds I can hold a 1.5 inch pattern with 75 grains of 3f and a round ball. If I go to conical I am lucky to hold a 8 inch pattern

I hope this new generation of TC's fixes the ergonomics of the G2 Contender and the Encore... redesigning the trigger would mostly do it.
@FrankBurch-vk7mi
@FrankBurch-vk7mi 20 сағат бұрын
@krisswegemer1163 the layered up g2 and encore were abominations,the original contender was fast easy and safe to adjust or it did not allow cocking of hammer.. the hunters trigger as designed and first used was the best..far better than remington winchester and every last smith and wasted ever sold..will never buy colt or smith again..wasted money

I would love to have a copy of the original octagon barrel, slim grip Contender, in 22lr, with drilled and tapped for an optic, just in case T/C reads this……😁
