The newer one has been available for a few years now and they have other models in that series. They're made in Alabama by Bear. The originals were 1095 steel and that's why they chose it for the generational series. The first Sharpfingers were flat ground and considerably thicker steel and quite heavy for the size. Later ones were still flat ground, but ground thinner. The last design was semi hollow ground like the generational model you have there and at the end of the life of Shrade they were all Schrade + proprietary stainless steel like the UH line, but not stamped as such. Schrade does not exist anymore though as you may well know it's simply a trademark purchased at auction by Taylor and later sold to Battenfeld Technologies.

The G stands for Generational. It's the name of the line of the overpriced made in USA knives. There is nothing special or remarkable about any of the knives in the line other than they are hideously overpriced.
