I'm glad there is some real competition for a budget printer that's not strictly an Ender 3 Clone. It's great to see the 3D Printing community grow at such a quick pace in comparison to previous years. What a time to be alive.

@Lost In Tech Hello, thank you very much for the useful Information for 3d printing you share with us on KZbin. Could you please recommend me, which 3d printer is better in printing large objects like Star Wars helmets for example, how about flsun v400, ender 5 plus or the smart pro version. I know from your review video that the v400 is very fast, but what is about quality printing ? 😅 The printer costs more than my regular monthly salary, that's why I am asking for your recommendation 👐

I purchased the Sovol SV06 based on your review and the availability. I was looking at the Elegoo Neptune 3 Pro based on your review as well because of TPU print quality, but they were sold out and I really liked the features you mentioned about the Sovol better. With this being my first 3D printer ever I was wondering if you will make the TPU profile available? I would like a starting place when tuning my TPU profile so that I don't accidentally break anything right off the bat lol. Also, thank you for all of your great videos in general! Bought the SV06 and am blown away as a first printer. I just missed the $199, but did get in on the $239 deal. I am very pleased that I went from box to the start of my first Benchy in under 25 minutes. The result (using the unidentified sample PLA provided) was astonishing since I did nothing but the Z axis setup and bed leveling. My only nit right now is the lack of regarding materials and best settings for those materials. For instance, my Benchy above printed at default ssettings with an extruder temp of 185C and a bed tep of 60C. Those same settings with PLA from SUNLU and Polymaker failed after 4 or 5 layers - even the surround started sliding around amidst the spaghetti that ended up being produced. I'm more than happy to experiment, but having at least a starting point as a reference would keep me from throwing away 250G of rat's nest in experimentation. I picked up 3 different brands of PLA and I wish that Sovol had a bit more "Prusa" in their tech team regarding that type of info. Thanks for sharing your experience. And the released model is much less rough around the edges than your Beta.

I love the screen because it still works after converting to Klipper! Mine has been upgraded with a Bondtech CHT 0.4 nozzle and a 5015 part cooling fan for "them high flowz". With the full suite of Klipper tuning: pressure advance, input shaping, skew, etc; it prints PLA fine at 200mm/s speed and 3000mm/s2 acceleration. I'm still not done with the tuning, I have to still determine the precise maximum flow rate with the CHT nozzle and try and push the speed and acceleration a bit further. Right now I tested up to 20mm3/s with CNC Kitchen's static test and it doesn't skip at all.

Hey, today I have tried to print a large model. But regardless what if have tried i couldn't get it to print properly. After only a couple of millimetres the extruder "failed". The filament every time was screeched up so that the extruder wasn't abel to push it any more. I have cleaned my hole hotend and changed the nozzle but it wasn't clogged. The weird thing is that if just printed a big model yesterday and everything went fine. I hope you have some advice for me or maybe know what my mistake is. I am actually pretty interested in this model. I currently have 2 Anycubic i3 mega’s with E3D Titan Aero extruded upgrades. They run really well at 100mm/s (50mm/s for external perimeters) with acceleration of 3000/1250 on the X & Y. The print quality is really good but the Anycubic design has some issues. I can’t see why an i3 clone like this couldn’t manage the same. I might look into one of these next time I need to add a new printer 🤔

Thinking of buying my first 3d printer and this and the Neptune 3 are so close to eachother. I truly dont know which one is better to buy. Neptune is a marginally bigger build volume but this has better hardware imo

It has many similarities to the amazing Prusa i3, including the simple menu and knob interface that I love. A couple of differences, though, first the price. I'm a bit upset, if I'm gonna have a printer like that I want ppl to know how much money I have... Another relevant difference, I believe, would be the planetary direct drive extruder. I suppose it's not a big difference, but can you comment on it?
@LostInTech3D

Hahaha. Maybe spray paint it orange. The planetary extruder seems fine, I mean, it's just there, other than the wheel turning really fast you wouldn't really know.

Even if you could afford a Prusa, it isnt that great of a printer for the price. 8 bit board in 2022? meh..its just middle of the road printer, nothing to write home about. Compare it to the Bambu lab X1 which is just a little bit more expensive than the built option of a prusa mk3s you get a LOT more for the money...and if you compare it to cheaper options there are quite a few printers out there (including this one) that do the same job for a fraction of the price. I.d say getting a Prusa in 2022 is a pretty daft move. Take this with a grain of salt from someone who.s had a prusa and im happy that I got rid of it, but still, its just my opinion.

Well said, particularly about Jo’s narcissistic projects. Prusa business is a single great product subsidizing vanity projects that don’t succeed. MMU2S has the reliability of Ender 3. SLA is stupidly priced. Mini is a gimmick with shaky reliability at launch. It’s great to have a non-Chinese printer company, but like all the ones of the past, it stopped being agile and hungry. The XL will probably see the same story as Repilcator 5G: a beautifully designed printer that’s obsolete before launch.

It's 2022 and Sovol are using rods on all axes. My Mendel90 did that in 2012. I don't like homing mechanisms which attempt to rip your machine apart. The Anycubic i3 Mega had ganty levelling - it used two Z switches - simple. Stall detection is fine but you're slamming plastic parts into each other here. I hope the availability of replacement parts outlasts the appeal of this printer. My takeaway from this. It's a Prusa MK3 copy at a fraction of the price with an implementation that reflects it.
@LostInTech3D

Its fiiine, it's low current for the slamming, it's just a mild tap. 😛
@MatrixRay19
@MatrixRay19 2 жыл бұрын
It's 2022 and the Bambu Labs X1 is using rods on all axes, being one of the best machines at non-business price. Do you know how weak stepper motors actually are? You could stall it with a sheet of paper, and still, it's moving very slow without sufficient current to excert enough torque to do anything but move itself. The reason it slams instead of using sensor is simple and mentioned: it only has 4 drivers, it can't move the Z motors independently. Your opinion is unfundamented and pretty much "wrong" since it doesn't take into consideration all I've said, which are facts, not opinions.
