Thanks Brian, It is a súper complete end to end video about this doorbell. I have one question, if I have not traditional chime cables. Could I just connect it to an extension cable to the power outlet ? Does that make sense ? I mean like connect a phone or something like . It is just to enable the always on
@AutomateYourLifeАй бұрын
Hey Diego. Sorry, no. This takes a specific transformer (takes AC and changes it). So you can't do that.
@saravanan210512 күн бұрын
You should not connect it directly to a power outlet which is a higher voltage than the rated input voltage of the doorbell. Having said that, if you do not have a traditional chime, it is possible to use the Always on feature by connecting the doorbell to a power source that meets its rated input spec which is 8-24V~1A. I tested using a 12V 2A DC adapter and the doorbell automatically detected it is hardwired and the Always on mode worked just fine. Like with any other device, just make sure that the output voltage of your power source adapter or transformer is within range and does not fall below or exceed the rated input voltage range of the doorbell or it will likely fry the device or lead to malfunction. Consult an expert if you are unsure.

Yeah that's not a newbie question at all. I think it's related to power, and if I had to bet ultimately that's because the unit could overheat. I've seen other manufacturers run into the upper temperature rating being exceeded on a unit with a battery being wired in.
