I love my Koa mini and after I heard this demonstration I had to go to my local GC to check it out. Just so happened they were having a memorial day sale, 15% off. I played the 724ce Koa and it had a wonderful unique tone. I bought it and now I can't put it down. I now have 3 Taylor's. This, the mini Koa and a 717e which I also love to play.

@@joshuafernandes4935 you didn't ask me, but I just played the 724 last night. If comparing just the tone, I don't know if I'd say the 724 is 'much' better, but when comparing the whole package the 724 is incredible. I knew from the second I had it in my lap it was a special guitar. It's really responsive and sounds good quiet as well as loud. I've been demoing guitars like a mad man the past week and the 724 is by far the best.

I have a '20 714 lutz/rosewood that I dearly love. Got the chance to play one of the new Koa 724's along side my 714 just to settle my curiosity. I love them both and was curious because my 714 seems to have opened up beautifully over the past couple of years. I like the Koa, and would love to have one, but my lutz/rosewood really sounded much fuller and better to me. That will help me stop yearning for one of the 724's and I'm glad it didn't just trash my 714. If I had the spare funds I'd gladly add a 724 and wait for the Koa to open up also. I'm sure they will just continue to sound better and better.

These both sound beautiful! My first hardwood-top guitar was a GS mini Koa, and my 2nd was the 322e 12-fret. Other Taylor koas I’ve heard have all sounded too bright, even harsh to my ears. These 2 are the first I’ve heard that remind me of the tone I grew to love because of my first GS mini koa. I’m impressed with the depth of tone even in the 722. Fantastic demo, guys, and I always appreciate the way Chris does his homework before doing one of these…

The fact Chris plays only three different songs across most of his videos is a benefit to all of us. With the same recording gear, it allows us to compare (as well as the limitations of the internet will allow) the differences between guitars. It’s allowed me to entertain ordering a guitar I can’t try in person, because I can compare the sound to something that is available at my local GC or SA.

Interesting video and great demos on this new guitar. I have a lutz spruce/rosewood 714ce and love it dearly. Glad I got a v braced one. Love the lutz spruce pairing with rosewood. So, I also have a 2014 314ce Koa limited, which has a non K series bracing and a satin finish. I pulled it out and played along with you to check out the tone. Can’t hear much difference. Obviously v class bracing and 8 years of refinement will make a difference, but I will not be trading in my 314ce-K anytime soon. It was 1/2 the price of these new ones. Yes it was a steal.

As usual, well-done video and demos. I guess I like the looks of Rosewood or Mahogany better, but I thought both those guitars sounded sweet and would have a hard time choosing between the two-do I like the bigger, bassier (is that a word?) sound of the 724 or the beautiful highs of the 722 better?
@arkadyromanov78032 жыл бұрын
the smaller body sounded better to me overall. I suspect because the Koa's so hard you have to dig in a lot more to make the top go to work, and the more wood you have, the harder you have to work to get it moving, so the smaller 722 just sounds more resonant, warm and (I would guess) easier to play unless you're naturally inclined to shred like you're in a metal band. I suspect the larger 724 would probably be the pick if you were doing "plugged in" recordings though.

Soundwise, I don't see much difference if it is a K24ce or a K24ce Builder's edition or this all Koa 724ce. I have played both at the Koa 24ce - normal and builder's edition at the guitar outlets. The all Koa 724ce is only aesthetically without the guitar blings. I just bought the K24ce Builder's edition. Taylor has got to be the most confused modeled guitar factory in the world...no one can keep up with their need for change. I'm been a Taylor fan for several years and own a 714 Lutz/Rosewood, 322 12 fret, GS mini hog, DN3, and GA312- these sound a lot more like my 322 and GS mini with the hardwood tops. The 714 was a pretty iconic design for Taylor and used to be the entry point into rosewood/spruce guitars but it did feel cheapened when the 400 series was blown over by rosewood builds. Basically, Bob Taylor started The Ebony Project in the Congo Basin, Cameroon, where residents have established a sustainable supply of ebony timber, reforestation planting by local farmers that have adopted polyculture vs. monoculture. Bob since expanded that philosophy to leasing 100 acres in Hawaii, reforesting the area, and entering into a partnership with Paniolo Tonewoods. Like Breedlove, they are raising awareness of the value of tone wood timber. What did you think of the US Forest Service's 50-year contracts to generate an economy in SE Alaska by providing 4.5 billion board feet of Sitka spruce and coastal hemlock for two pulp mills? As fish biologists working on habitat surveys across northern SE AK, we felt musical instruments and wood ship spars and timbers a far better use. How about clear straight grain alder 4' diameter and 200' tall?
