I really like the overall simple and, dare I say, generic look that Default balisong has (in a good way). I don't believe we have a Nautilus-Adjacent balisong that is available for under $100, let alone Amazon. There is the Nabalis Trident, thought that is a bit pricey at around a benjamin with a design that is a bit polarizing for some to put it nicely. I think the Default really captures a very no-nonsense design that focuses purely on functionality and tune, while not trying to be overall flamboyant or flashy. It is awesome that we are ushering in a new era of Chinese-made renaissance of budget flippers that seem to be adopting features and configurations that is found in the mid to upper range balisongs. The Default looks like the natural evolution from the abundant G10/Bearing budget balisongs that we have seen on Amazon a couple of years ago. The only criticism that I have for the design is that the handles are a bit on the thicker side, and considerably blocky from the videos I've seen on it. However, my mind may be changed once I have it in hand. Either way, I hope you enjoy the balisong Ethan. Can't wait to hear your thoughts in a week or so.

@brodywilliams2382 I wouldn't say that the Nautilus is overpriced per se, just that the overall budget balisong market evolved to the point where it shifted the nautilus's value proposition to be a bit lesser by today's options. After all, the original nautilus was sort of the first of its kind, and its price reflected its overall uniqueness in construction that probably took notes from the Benchmade 51 back in that day. The value of what budget balisongs bring today are what used to be luxuries to only be found in high end grails a couple of years ago. I can agree that the naut is indeed very pricey for what it is by today's offerings, but I cannot say that it isn't potentially worth its price either.

i was thinking about buying this balisong to get started in the hobby because some people said its good for starters but after viewing your thoughts i think i will wait on it but i am thinking of getting the edit lite from your experience on it this vid was huge for me and others too keep it up! 👍

2024 is a treasure trove of amazing budget balisong options. We have the LDY Orion v1.5, the Nabalis Cheese, the Nabalis Extrusion, the Fleur plastic balisong, the Nabalis Canyon, and now the Default by Thomas. It's awesome to see all these amazing budget flippers coming into the scene to have options for new flippers.

I’m pretty new to the hobby overall, I just recently really really got into it, but you’ve basically described my experience with the GOSHAK 7075, that one is chunkier and sounds a lot better imo, but I think the odd Chaplin, Zero g, and fan come from not enough tip weight, but idk tho Edit: kinda same with the Nabalis Morse too

Kinda hilarious they managed to do exactly what Squid said wasn't possible in making an aluminum bali with liners without tang pins. Wonder if that's going to affect the durability much.

That's only because of the thickness. At the thickness of the Nautilus it isn't possible to use zen pins like squid says

got this 2 months ago but it's a G10 jade version, and it SUCKS, because of handle bias and the square shaped handle. However these are the only cons and it can be easily fixed by using cf scales. I've bought cf scales and it is NUTS.
