The Sanzen TRP spreads way more than the OG TRP-same reason I ultimately couldn’t enjoy Cosmo Air Light nor Graphilo. For those of us with small writing, line spread is a curse.

I've been trying to carry my fairly new Pelikan M1000 and use it with my current planner with Tomoe River paper. It just doesn't work. The Pelikan is a wet writer and even if I blow on it to dry the ink faster, it tends to stay wet and smear. I don't have that problem with other pens.

I hated the old Tomoe River paper, and the new isn't any better. The ONLY thing TR does well is display ink properties, and it only does this by making most of the ink dry on the surface. The dye left behind can turn back into ink and smudge all over the place years down the road. The paper pills, it creases, it ghosts heavily, and it is the worst possible choice for any writing you want to last for many years. The ghosting alone is enough to make me hate TR, but when you add all these other factors, it's horrible. Ink can take forever to dry on it, and bulletproof ink may never dry properly, or work as they're supposed to work. It's a lot like shading. Everyone HATED shading until KZbin came along and told everyone it was a feature, not a flaw. Even Walmart's Exceed brand is better than TR in almost every way, and many other fountain pen friendly papers certainly are. George Carlin's quote is silly. But so was he.

A truly original comment! :) I love Tomoe River paper, but I do agree that the ink just perches on the paper and takes a while to dry. I just deal with that issue by using a piece of blotting paper to prevent the ink from getting on the facing page. I will try Walmarts brand paper if you really like it.

After making the video, I looked closer and saw a little bit of feathering on the current paper, but no feathering on the new and improved paper. If you saw some black ink on the back of the new & improved paper, it was from me setting the new paper on top of the other writing. The ink hadn't dried yet.
