I have a L2K in EF. I also have the jinhao 80 and i put a Lamy z50 M nib in it. I tend to use this modified Jinhao pen more from the past 1 year. For me the hooded nib and its slippery nature are negatives of L2K. On contrary i dont find these negatives in the modified Jinhao 80

Tip up for me always. The thing is, tip up is always better if the knife is below the waist, because when the knife leaves the pocket your hand wraps around it perfectly... It took me awhile to think why anyone would ever do tip down, until I ran into a comment when someone said they ran theirs tip down because they put it in their vest pocket... And then it hit me, tip down would be perfect if I put the knife in a pocket above the waist, seeing as my hand would be the complete opposite way. So the logic I go with is tip up if the knife is below the waste, tip down if the knife is in the pocket above the waste.

Yup that’s why I did it minus the day component. Cant read digital hands in all lighting anymore. Love the tritium bright enough for me to see with no work, no button to illuminate the dial and let’s face it lum lasts about as long as my glow in the dark toys did when I was a kid. I know this is an old video but if you pop the back off of the older Elgin you will see a serial number on the movement. Then do an internet search for Elgin watch data base and you should be able to find one where you enter that serial number and it will tell you the year it was made, how many of that movement were made, how many jewels it has and etc.

“Home stretch of life.” When a great friend of mine turned 36, I told him about the yardstick of life. I was trying to put his lifespan in perspective, and said something about the inches on a yardstick, and that he was halfway through life. That made him very anxious, and he met and married a woman within the same year. They’re still married, and have three beautiful daughters. Great looking watch! I kind of like the tinker toy look of the Citizen, but would be more inclined to wear the Ball. 👍

Until Covid, I was very consistent uploading one video per week. My channel was modest in size, but it was hard for me to justify the effort that I was putting into making the videos. Mainly it was the cost involved in me purchasing the gear that I reviewed. Some channels work out deals with stores that lend them gear to be reviewed in return for a positive review. I wasn't comfortable with that relationship. Any time a piece of gear was given to me, I felt obliged to avoid any negative points. I much prefer buying the gear with my own money and giving a totally honest review. Anyway, I almost stopped with KZbin and I put my time into teaching English online for 2 years during Covid. It was very rewarding work. I've made occasional videos for KZbin in the last 2 years, but not consistently.

I don't believe this issue will every be settled. My first knife was a tip up and the clip was fixed (no assist). To me at the time it made sense, since then I owned two other knives both are tip down (Gerber - no assist and a ZT - assist). Comparing the three knives, I've come to the conclusion it's is personal preference and ergonomics of the knife. How the knife opens - thumb stud/hole or flipper. Where these are placed and the length of the folded configuration also play a role.

What is the name of the biomass plant?

This was simply an experiment to see if the ground biomass would work as an alternative in a biomass power plant. The biomass power plant was in Dorchester County, SC. The bamboo contained too much silica for their comfort level. The silica can glass over the walls of the combustion chamber. I was hopeful that harvesting the biomass would allow the landowner to treat the bamboo as it regrew.

I’m relatively new to the world of fountain pens and the one constant seems to be; it’s all in the nibs. I’ve heard of people paying thousands for a pen only to have to send the nib out for work. I’ve heard stories about the inexpensive Chinese Montblanc knockoffs Jinhao that are perfectly tuned right out of the box for less than $5 on Aliexpress. I guess the moral of the story is to try before you spend hundreds of dollars if at all possible. Otherwise stick with the Chinese knockoffs. Also, the JinHao version of the LAMY 2000, sans the hooded nib, is the JinHao X80. Great review, thank you! I’m waiting on my LAMY 2000 as we speak and I can’t wait. ❤

I just found your video. I’m a big fan of Noodler’s Ink products. I like the inks and I like the pens. I have about 20 of Noodler’s regular pens and about 1/2 dozen Charlie pens. I weirdly have a fondness for the Charlie pens more than any of the other Noodler’s pens I own. As you said, they are a step above a quill. The ink dump you described is from the air bubble expanding inside the pen. You can reduce the chances of that happening by pointing the nib of the pen up and unscrewing the barrel a few turns. This creates a vacuum and pulls air and ink back into the barrel. Next over a trash can, point the nib down and screw the barrel tight. This acts as a pump and pushes ink back into the nib and feed. You’re done. You just equalized the pressure inside your pen and you can go back to writing.
