Just in case you've not noticed. When reversing press the "+" top left corner of the reversing camera screen and it'll zoom in closer to your hitch ball.

8 months I have had this car, all summer I have been squinting at the screen to see if I am under the hitch or not 😂 thank you I have just tried it and I can’t believe I never noticed it before 😂

Its great to finally have a caravan channel that has an Elddis Odyssey, so its been really interesting to follow your journey and experiences so far as we have and Odyssey 525 which is very similar to yours. Keep up the great work, we are looking. forward to the next video.

It’s our very first caravan and for the age it’s in good condition inside we are taking it to get serviced next week so fingers crossed they don’t find anything major I have just changed the tyres as they was very old! We are hoping to go away at the end of march for our first proper weekend away for Easter. We are doing other test run in it this weekend as we had a problem with the fridge but we will explain all that in the video 😁
@spracing0410 ай бұрын
Yes I can remember in a previous video you explained you had an issue with the fridge. Our van is a 2009 model. Check the rear awning rail rubbers are not stapled to the underside of floor of the van. Mine were on our Odyssey from the factory, water ran down them and over the years and rotted the rear floor, so just had mine repaired. I replaced both our tyres last year, they weren't too expensive, £60 each. @@CaravanTrails

My detachable tow hitch was £670 with twin electrics and came to the house to fit with dedicated wire int loom

I did pay a little bit more then that but really happy with the job the company did i’m really happy. I went for a dedicated wiring.

Mate you need to get the paint off the tow ball asap. It'll clog your friction pads up.

Thank you for the heads up on this I wouldn’t have even thought of that! Luckily I haven’t tow with it yet I will look into it before we do.

I've always used a wire brush on my cordless drill, then fine wet dry paper with brake cleaning spray.

I did my towbar a few weeks ago. Mask up the neck part under the towball to you don't scuff that part. Then get some varying grades of wet and dry sandpaper and sand it down, keeping it lubricated with water when doing it. Then finish off by giving it a spray clean with brake cleaner and wipe dry with a microfibre cloth and replace the cap. Doesn't take that long.

My current towing vehicle is a 2003 Volvo XC90 with the 2.4 litre D5 engine and a 5-speed automatic which will tow just about anything and is more reliable than say, a Land Rover Discovery 3. My current caravan is a bit larger than the previous one so the XC90 can handle it no problem.

On 2nd kuga. Tow a pretty heavy caravan. Pound for pound you won't find a tow car better unless you want a better badge on the front

Excellent video. I'm looking to replace my current tow car and the Kuga 2 litre Diesel is on the shotlist. I'd go for the automatic as its an 8 speed torque convertor box, but its a shame Ford only did that version in 2021 and 2022 before dropping the diesel from the range. Lots on the second hand market at very reasonable prices. I'll be interested to see how you get on towing with it?
@CaravanTrails5 ай бұрын
Hi thank you glad you liked the video, the car has been excellent we have had no issues towing with it pulls well and handles great I usually leave it in fifth gear when towing as I find when you use 6th gear you lose that power to get up the hills , I would of myself gone for the automatic but it was just out my price range at the time had the added cost of fitting the tow bar as well

£860 wow. I'm getting a supply and fitting for £210 down the road from me. I wonder if it is to do with the make of vehicle as mine is a 20 year old toyota rav4 Diesel is good, yes it is more expensive but a tank lasts a lot longer than a petrol. With my petrol I can get about 400 miles out of a fill tank (55 litre tank) - she's a 2.0 too
@CaravanTrails7 ай бұрын
is it a fixed tow bar or detachable? I know the detachable ones are more expensive, I also had to have dedicated wiring as there are some safety features on the car that is activated when the caravan is attached also had to do it for warranty reasons.
