I believe this makes their "Hydro-X HCS-1" model/unit completely obsolete, now. This does the same stuff, plus it does the stuff that I, and others have been asking TrolMaster to implement into the HCS-1. So...I guess it's..good. Once you start adding components to make this a controller, it's very expensive. Without buying the extras, it's just a monitor, nothing more. Shane, If you did a series on Home Assistant, that'd be legendary. These companies aren't doing anything special (trolmaster). Thanks for the overview, Shane.

For what it all does it's cheap. You can use this system for a 20 x 20 grow now for a 4x4 tent I would not get anything and just don't all by hand other than a 10 dollar light timer

Man these companies really know how to squeeze every penny out of the enthusiast home growers. A tent controller? All these gadgets for small tent grow?? LOL. This is pure overkill and a complete rip off. An ideal micro climate and all the other variables are easily achieved in a tent, even the biggest problems can be solved with some cheap, basic and intuitive solutions. ​@@Hansen710 Wow, really..?! I've seen some very inexpensive Gavita LED fixtures the last few years. I've wondered if they were bought out (or the Gavita name) from a Chinese company..?! Seems like I saw an ad on Alibaba before, surprisingly..?! I could be totally wrong though..?! Well, I just noticed The Gavita Pro 900e LED bar type fixture for $250 on the top of the page with others for sale I googled another company name that I believe was sold, called "Spydr", First bar type fixture, from over 12 years ago, and made in Austin, TX according to the Hydro store here. Nothing came up now, except Spider Farmer fixtures, and that one Gavita Pro 900e ad. Maybe they have sold out..?!🤔👍💯✌️

Times goes by and Lights got cheaper, fans got cheaper, tents got cheaper, but anybody cant do a cheaper grow controller now we have Raspberry Pi, arduinos and that stuff like you do with your lights?? some people only have a 60x60cm grow and this dont justify this price. As expected, all this kit is INSANELY overpriced. For the price of the controller alone you can set yourself up with a thin-client running controller and datalogger software, several RH/temp/CO2 sensors, a couple TDR sensors, ppfd sensor, and a host of switches/relays to control every aspect of an entire grow. Some folks and I are working on free open source logic for crop steering using home assistant, node red, and directly with esp32 hardware. All this stuff is running on $3 microcontrollers and $30 AT MOST sensors. We see arroya, growlink, trolmaster, and various others, FAR overcharging for cheap cheap microcontrollers and relays and acting like they invented the wheel. The canna tax is insane. Home assistant, node red, mycodo, grafana are all free and far more expandable than running someone elses' closed software that might go the way of so many of the fly-by-night canna companies have. I'd say wait a few months for vivosun/mars hydro to come out with similar products for a fraction of the price, or DIY it with home assistant and inexpensive TDR sensors like a lot of us have been. Don't pay the canna tax.

you can build this yourself... I would not pay for a controller more than a $50, it'S not worth more yet they charge absurd amounts mostly... if you building it yourself you get more functionality

At this point I would just like a sensor that I can put in each of my buckets and view my PH accurately, in real time, on a display in my tent without having to pull out my PH pen all the time.

I'm using a 'fish tank' water meter for that. they cost about $20, way less for a fish tank than for a garden, and show you both, EC and pH values in real-time.

​@@benc1978 not my case. I have mine for the third cycle now and I calibrate only once per. With a recirculating drip system which is a live reservoir so I need this data the most accurate possible. I'm using "INVITAL electronic TDS a pH meter", it's an international company so you might be lucky... I also use reverse osmosis for fish tanks from this company, very cheap as well with 2 osmotic membranes and I haven't changed them yet (almost 2 years now with filtering 100l water/week 0,4 innit EC and it returns 0,01-3). I have no clue how long it last working, but for the price, it costs virtually nothing so I don't mind if need a replacement time-to-time, I also think the probe is replaceable with this meter.

@@413TomaccoRoad nope, and i have also seen plants do fine at higher temps then people normal do.. it all depends on how you treat your plants, cold nights does make the plant grow suger for example and you might live a place with plenty of natural co2 so the plants wont even feel the temp changes and i could keep going plants also come from different temops in nature, and you have the right temp for all of them 🤣 sometimes the expense will also be to high if you try to fight mother nature Decides stress id used for many things create suger, create more flower and so on.. it can be used both for good and bad all proffetional tomato gardners know how to stress plants to grow more fruits, if the weather is against them

Nothing like a $300 controller for a $100 tent grow, Wonder why no one can make a profit off growing weed when you spend $2k on a tent grow!!! Lol insane the overpriced super Unnecessary equipment to grow one of the easiest plants there is to grow!!!!!! All I need is a light and a fan, maybe a humidifier tops, open air no tent at all. And my results are above par, from what I see on the internet.
